Starforce Warriors-Chapter 996: Perfect Bloodline
The disciples of the Ancestor of Wisdom were all exceptionally gifted and extraordinarily intelligent. They undoubtedly stood at the pinnacle among the countless Reaper clans.
However, they had devoted all of their talent to learning. They had poured all their time into research. They studied humanity and explored the path of evolution. Thus, their individual combat strength was rather average.
"How do you survive in the world of Reapers without great strength?" Li Xiaofei had posed this question to Link out of sheer curiosity.
Link responded with a faint smile and replied, "Strong? Are we stronger than the Ancestor of Wisdom, our teacher?"
Li Xiaofei was momentarily stunned.
Link continued, "With the protection of our teacher, the Ancestor of Wisdom, our safety is guaranteed. We only need to act according to his will."
Li Xiaofei nodded in agreement. The reasoning was sound. Li Xiaofei remained on the Sacred Mountain for the next several dozen days.
He kept to himself, rarely venturing out. Aside from cultivating, he focused on familiarizing himself with every accessible area of the Sacred Mountain, excluding the restricted zones.
He even trained alongside Link and the others. He observed their research up close. Because of their absolute trust and loyalty toward the Ancestor of Wisdom, Link and the other disciples did not shy away from Li Xiaofei’s presence. On the contrary, they eagerly shared their research findings with him and engaged in discussions together.
"Very few people are willing to seriously listen to us talk about these 'useless' matters, even though these studies are personally led by the Ancestor of Wisdom. Almost none of the King-ranked or clan leaders show any interest," Link said in delight.
At that moment, he already regarded Li Xiaofei as something of a kindred spirit.
“They’re only interested in things that allow them to grow stronger quickly, such as evolution or cultivation. What a pity they don’t realize that true strength has always come from learning,” said Link.
Li Xiaofei agreed wholeheartedly. Over the next few days, Li Xiaofei had grown close with the many disciples of the Ancestor of Wisdom. These disciples were all relatively pure-minded.
As Link had explained, they didn’t bother trying to discern sincerity from deceit, nor did they waste time guessing at others’ motives. To them, such efforts only squandered their intellect and time.
After all, the Ancestor of Wisdom made all the important decisions. They had long been accustomed to a life of study and research. The reason they treated Li Xiaofei so kindly was not because he was exceptionally outstanding, but because his presence gave them an outlet for their desire to share.
More than ten days later, Li Xiaofei was finally granted access to the archive tower. This was where the disciples had stored the fruits of their countless years of research. It held everything from speculations about evolution and Reaper cultivation, to summaries and rumors concerning the secrets of various other races.
It was here that Li Xiaofei finally discovered the information he had long been searching for. According to these records, there had once been a Reaper King-ranked clan within the Evolution Temple that achieved perfect evolution. The entire clan ascended together, leaving the Evolution Temple behind.
However, the entire race vanished after their perfect evolution. No other race was able to maintain contact with them, nor was anyone able to obtain any further information about what perfect evolution truly entailed.
Both the Ancestor of Wisdom and the Beast Ancestor had been deeply angered and disappointed by the clan’s disappearance after their perfect evolution. It was said that the Ancestor of Wisdom had once scoured the galaxy in search of this perfected clan, spending countless years in the effort. However, historical records were vague and inconclusive about the outcome of that search.
Judging from the current state of the Reaper race, it seemed likely that the Ancestor of Wisdom had never found the clan, or perhaps he had, but could do nothing about it.
After all, this was perfect evolution. No one could predict how powerful such a race might have become, either individually or as a whole. Even someone as powerful as the Ancestor of Wisdom could not claim to have achieved perfect evolution, so whether he could rival such a legendary clan remained an unresolved question.
Disciples like Link had been fascinated by these ancient histories. They hoped to discover a key to perfect evolution hidden in the fragments of the past. They had poured immense effort into studying everything related to this 'perfected evolutionary race,' hoping to draw inspiration from their success.
Unfortunately, their efforts had borne little fruit. In the end, they had temporarily shelved that research direction. They turned instead to studying the present condition of the Reaper race, seeking a new path forward. They were trying to find, within the endless archive of failed attempts, a faint glimmer of possibility that might lead to success.
This research data and materials included detailed analyses of the countless lifeless fortresses within the Evolution Temple, including the Ruò Iron Clan. Of course, that wasn’t the main focus.
What truly mattered was that the disciples’ research had actually produced some progress. In particular, the second disciple, Qing He, had made a breakthrough discovery. She had identified the existence of what might be the strongest evolutionary bloodline in history.
Qing He believed that the key to evolution lay in bloodlines. Bloodlines were innate traits but they could also be acquired later through effort. The critical difference between the two was that innate traits were born complete and flawless.
Those acquired afterward required immense hardship to obtain. That was why the Reaper race, throughout their long and cautious journey, had always moved forward with trepidation, unable to find a true path. This was the price of striving for something after birth.
As for that King-ranked clan which had achieved perfect evolution in ancient times, Qing He suspected they might have possessed an innately perfect bloodline from the very beginning. That would explain how the entire clan had been able to ascend together.
If the Reaper race wished to recreate the miracles of the past, they would have to locate this bloodline, study it thoroughly, and refine it into a form that could serve as a shared evolutionary path for all races.
This discovery had received the approval of the Ancestor of Wisdom. The other disciples quickly became engrossed in this line of research as well, continuously finding evidence to support it.
Eventually, the second disciple Qing He uncovered a truth that left the disciples both thrilled and disheartened. They were thrilled because they were growing ever closer to the perfect bloodline. But they were disheartened because the being suspected of innately possessing that bloodline was not a Reaper.
It was a human. Yes. The disciples had discovered the presence of this bloodline in a human. Moreover, it was found in a remote star region deep within human territory. The specimen had come from the Eden resistance organization, specifically, Si Kongxue and her daughter.
They were spoils of war captured by the Death God’s Eye clan, which perfectly fulfilled the disciples’ requirements. The woman who carried the perfect bloodline, along with her daughter, had been delivered to the Ancestor Court.
The most primitive yet effective method to awaken this bloodline was through the Evolution Temple. Thus, the Ancestor Court had sent Si Kongxue and her daughter into the Evolution Temple, hoping that the two human women might awaken their latent bloodline under the influence of evolutionary energy and achieve the perfect evolution the Reaper race had long yearned for millions of years.
Li Xiaofei finally understood the full story. He also grasped the true meaning behind Wei Xiaotian’s words, that Si Kongxue and her daughter were of immense importance.
It was all about evolution. It lay at the root of everything. Yet, in all the archival material, Li Xiaofei found no information about the exact location within the Evolution Temple where Si Kongxue and her daughter had been sent. So he decided to seek out the second disciple, Qing He, personally.
