Starforce Warriors-Chapter 923: Darkblade
The hotel Wei Xiaotian had booked was extremely high-end, and was ranked among the top three in this port. The surrounding area was bustling with all sorts of commercial and entertainment venues. The lobby was decorated luxuriously.
Perhaps because the human population in this star system was so large and involved in almost all production activities, the architectural style here was no longer the ascetic minimalist design found in other Reaper-occupied territories. Rather, it was one of splendid opulence.
The reception desk was staffed by two beautiful women with tails. Wei Xiaotian quickly whispered that these two were from the Succubus clan of the Reaper Kings and naturally possessed a human-like appearance, with only their ears and tails distinguishing them from humans.
The two receptionists had fair skin and striking beauty. Their every movement and expression radiated a kind of pure, alluring charm. Liu Shaji instantly grew restless and went over to chat them up. Li Xiaofei rubbed his temples in exasperation.
Damn it.
He had always thought he was a bit of a romantic, leaving trails of entanglements with women wherever he went. He had even worried he was on his way to becoming a playboy. He had sometimes secretly despised himself for that. But he was worlds apart compared to Liu Shaji.
Liu Shaji was the kind of man who would dare seduce even a Reaper. He was way more impressive than Xu Xian. In no time at all, Liu Shaji had the two beautiful receptionists laughing and batting their eyes at him with flirtatious expressions. It looked like things were already heating up.
“Succubus women are naturally amorous. When they take an interest in a male, they’re very generous,” Wei Xiaotian whispered again, especially emphasizing the word ‘generous.’
Li Xiaofei immediately understood. Very soon, with Liu Shaji’s unstoppable masculine charm, they completed the check-in process.
Li Xiaofei took a shower in his own room, changed clothes, and was about to invite Liu Shaji to explore the streets and gather more intelligence about the Reapers. But he saw the two receptionists knocking on Liu Shaji’s door and walking right in...
“......” Li Xiaofei was rendered speechless.
He had no choice but to take his two disciples and explore the streets on his own. The streets were bustling with people. To be honest, if it weren’t for the fact that a large portion of these ‘people’ were actually Reapers in disguise, Li Xiaofei might have truly believed he had arrived in a human city.
There were flashing laser neon lights, various signboards, bunny girls holding placards to attract customers, and the calls of shopkeepers at their doors. There were voices from all kinds of advertisements. Li Xiaofei was already used to all this, but Gou Dongxi and Li Yiyun were dazzled.
Coming from an ancient-style world, they had never seen such a colorful and extravagant place before. Everything filled them with curiosity; they occasionally gasped in surprise and sometimes exclaimed in wonder, their faces clearly spelling out that they were bumpkins who had never seen the world.
Li Xiaofei noticed that the number of Reapers and humans in this port was about equal. Most of the humans wore simple clothing and had a mark on their wrists resembling a slave identification.
Of course, there were also a few humans who dressed in fine clothes and had no slave mark on their wrists. They seemed to hold a higher status. Some of them were even accompanied by Reaper guards and maids. Such humans were rare, but their strength was formidable.
Collaborators? Li Xiaofei wondered to himself.
The three of them walked into a weapons shop. There were all kinds of weapons on display on the shelves inside. There were energy weapons as well as cold weapons and various combat suits and armor.
“Honored guests, what would you like to buy?” An elderly attendant in a black tailcoat noticed Li Xiaofei and the other two. His eyes lit up as he immediately came forward to greet them.
As a member of the Shuo Mo clan among the top hundred Reaper king clans, the elderly attendant had sensed the aura of high-level cultivators emanating from the three the moment they entered, and he instantly became courteous and eager to serve.
Li Xiaofei spoke calmly, “Just looking around.”
The Reaper language was not particularly difficult to learn. Li Xiaofei had spent more than ten days mastering it completely on the way, so he felt rather proud of his diligence.
After all, he had done it entirely to better blend into the Reaper community and gather intelligence, all out of a pure and loyal heart dedicated to his race. Unlike Liu Shaji, who learned foreign languages purely to flirt and hook up. The key was that he immediately went after his goals. The moment they arrived at the hotel, he put his skills to immediate use.
As for Gou Dongxi and Li Yiyun, they had already mastered the foreign language fluently. That was the power of leading by example. After all, with Li Xiaofei setting the pace himself, how could those two not hurry to keep up with their master?
Li Xiaofei browsed around the shop and selected more than a dozen different kinds of weapons. He had plenty of money. Wei Xiaotian, after all, was of the King level, and not just any King level but one with real power. Even though his territory was somewhat remote, in places far from the Emperor’s direct control, sudden windfalls were common.
So Li Xiaofei had already extorted a large sum from the former gang leader before going shopping. Spending that money felt perfectly justified. Moreover, all the things Li Xiaofei bought were meant to be brought back as research samples to analyze and decipher the Reaper’s weapon systems.
“Hmm?” Li Xiaofei stopped in front of a display, his face showing a hint of surprise.
There was a crimson saber on the weapon rack. The blade seemed to be forged from some kind of red crystal, glowing faintly with a flicker of flame. The hilt was made of a silvery-white metal, elegantly crafted and of a suitable size.
The key was that the blade radiated a faint ripple of Immortal Force. This was an Immortal Artifact. It was a weapon belonging to humans.
“Honored guest, you have a discerning eye,” the elderly attendant said with a smile as he stepped forward. “This Darkblade is our shop’s treasure. Four months ago, it was acquired at a high price from the frontlines. Its original owner was a powerful warrior from the so-called Human Demon clan. This blade was used to kill many of our soldiers. Later, the King of the Yao Guang clan personally struck him down and seized the blade. It is a rare and exceptional sharp weapon.”
Human Demon clan? Li Xiaofei was momentarily taken aback, then quickly realized, Damn it. The Reapers actually refer to humans as the Human Demon clan. That truly shows where their allegiance lies.
Li Xiaofei reached out and grasped the hilt. The elderly attendant’s eyelids twitched slightly, but recalling the aura of a King level cultivator emanating from the man, along with the fact that he had just spent several million credits in the shop, he restrained himself from stopping him.
If it had been anyone else, they would have been required to show their credentials and pay a deposit before they were even allowed to touch this shop’s treasure.
The saber settled in his hand and a faint ripple of spiritual force passed through it. Suddenly, a scene flashed before Li Xiaofei’s eyes.
A human warrior, covered in blood, roared and slashed at the enemy, covering his comrades and soldiers as they retreated. He himself was ultimately overwhelmed by the surging tide of the Reaper army... The grief, anger, and heroism of that moment flowed from the Darkblade straight into Li Xiaofei’s heart.
“A fine blade,” Li Xiaofei exclaimed in admiration.
He was determined to buy it and take it back.
Li Xiaofei asked, “What’s the price?”
A smile appeared on the elderly attendant’s face. Though this blade was the shop’s prized treasure, if it never sold, it would tie up too much capital. Moreover, if he managed to sell it himself, he could earn quite a handsome commission.
He quickly said, “Fifty million Evolution Coins. We offer installment payments, and there’s a three-percent discount for a one-time payment.”
He then added very sincerely, “That’s already the lowest price in our shop’s history.”
Li Xiaofei considered it and said, “I’ll pay a deposit now. In an hour, I’ll have someone pay the balance and come to collect the blade.”
“Of course,” the elderly attendant said happily.
So, after paying the deposit and leaving his contact information, Li Xiaofei and his two disciples left. After exiting the equipment shop, Li Xiaofei contacted Wei Xiaotian.
“Fifty million Evolution Coins? Why don’t you just go rob them?” Wei Xiaotian’s voice was filled with shock on the other end of the call .
Li Xiaofei replied calmly, “I am robbing them.”
“Damn it, you are such a little rascal.” Wei Xiaotian gritted his teeth.
But in the end, he still agreed to send someone to pay the balance. Li Xiaofei continued to browse the city streets. He was deeply curious about everything in the Reaper city.
As the saying went, know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated. Li Xiaofei wanted to gather as much information as possible to bring back to the human territories. Li Xiaofei paid close attention to the Reapers’ diet, language habits, customs, and the traits of the top hundred King level clans.
He even visited the library, investigating and reading many documents that were classified at a fairly high level of confidentiality. The harvest was immense. Just as he walked out of the library, Li Xiaofei received a message from the elderly attendant, informing him that the payment for the Darkblade had been completed and that he could now come and collect it.
“Alright, I’ll be there right away.” Li Xiaofei stretched lazily and headed for the equipment shop.
Just as he reached the entrance, he heard the sound of an argument inside. The elderly attendant came flying out of the shop and landed heavily on the ground, sliding three meters and looking extremely disheveled. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
“You worthless wretch! When Master Jin wants something, there’s nothing he can’t get. I don’t care about deposits or anything else. That blade must be mine!” An arrogant voice boomed from inside the shop.
The elderly attendant, his face bruised and swollen, scrambled to his feet. As soon as he saw Li Xiaofei approaching, he quickly cried out, “Honored guest, you came at just the right time. There’s a rude customer who’s trying to take the Darkblade you put a deposit on...”
Li Xiaofei was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected that someone would dare cause trouble here. Yes. It was actually a human.
That arrogant, domineering voice had come from a human. He looked into the shop. Inside, he saw a middle-aged man dressed in an extravagant golden robe. He was as fat as a pig, sitting on a custom-made golden chair, holding two succubus beauties in his arms. Four Reaper bodyguards stood beside him, and his chubby face was filled with arrogance.
This fat man was purely human but his arrogance was even more exaggerated than that of the Reapers. Judging by his pompous demeanor, as well as the presence of the maids and bodyguards, his status was definitely not low.
Li Xiaofei couldn’t help but feel a strong curiosity about this man’s identity.
“How dare you, a lowly human, try to snatch the blade that I, a King, have put a deposit on?” Li Xiaofei slipped into character, stepped into the shop, and looked at the man with an unfriendly expression.
The pale-faced fat man raised his chin and gave Li Xiaofei a few assessing glances. His eyes gradually took on a more cautious look.
