Chapter 563: A Big Gift

Guang-chan and Little Huang hadn’t seen any trace of the Black Emperor either. After hearing that the Black Emperor was a dog entrusted to Li Xiaofei by Little Nine and listening to his description of a pitch-black rural Great Xia dog, capable of growing in size and devouring Subspace creatures, the lizard and the rat immediately understood.

So, that’s what’s going on. This Black Emperor is unmistakably a descendant of the Big Boss’s lineage. This is no trivial matter. The offspring of the Big Boss had been exiled to Subspace? Unbelievable.

“Don’t worry, Brother Li,” Little Huang declared, thumping its chest so hard it echoed. “Even if I have to traverse ten thousand mountains and rivers, scour the entirety of Subspace, grow white hair and a beard, break my knees, and flatten my feet, I’ll find the Black Emperor for you.”

Guang-chan, meanwhile, scribbled furiously on its writing board.

Brother Li, I’ll help you with this. We’ll find your dog, no matter what.

Li Xiaofei was genuinely moved.

This is it.

This was the essence of true brotherhood, the kind that bonds men, or rather, male creatures, together as comrades. These two were indeed kindred spirits and brothers at first sight.

The Golden Lizard King immediately began manipulating the Subspace star map in the control room. After scanning the map carefully, it activated certain mechanisms.

Suddenly, several hidden compartments on the long-dormant war fortress opened with a hiss. Hundreds of thousands of mechanical puppet birds were released from within and scattered into the vast expanse of Subspace.

Li Xiaofei was astonished. “This war fortress is still functional?”

Little Huang chuckled. “Of course, it is! I often come here to barbeque. It brings back memories of the days when I followed Commander Xiao and stormed across the galaxy.”

“I thought it was completely destroyed,” Li Xiaofei said, still in disbelief.

“How could it be? This is a black hole-class war fortress, one of only twelve in the entire Beichen Legion. Unless the Eternal Sovereign personally intervened, it’s impossible to destroy it entirely,” Little Huang explained with a grin. “Commander Xiao left it here on purpose. It’s like a nail driven into Subspace. We use it to monitor the movements of the Four Evil Gods, and it also serves as a navigation marker.”

Suddenly, Guang-chan began scribbling rapidly on its writing board.

The truth is, Xiao Binggan ate himself into poverty and couldn’t afford the maintenance fees for the Biscuit, so he left it here as an excuse to scam more funding.

Li Xiaofei read the words and couldn’t help but laugh.

So, many of the grand, legendary tales often had absurd and ridiculous origins. Wasn’t that the way of things?

The Golden Lizard King fell silent, unable to continue bragging.

“The mechanical scout birds have been deployed,” he said quickly, changing the subject. “They’ll collect information soon, and we’ll know the moment we get any leads.”

At this point, Bajie interjected, eager to assert his presence. “I have an idea.”

Everyone turned to look at him.

“We should deal with the King of Terror’s avatar first. He’s the ruler of this region and commands countless Subspace creatures. The Subspace species have a unique biological communication network that spans across Subspace. Their intelligence-gathering capabilities are bound to be more reliable than our mechanical scout birds.”

Bajie’s words carried a surprising logic, leaving the group momentarily thoughtful.

"That's a good idea," the Golden Lizard King immediately agreed, adding, "Actually, I was just about to suggest the same thing. Deploying the mechanical scout birds is just a backup, a way to tackle the problem from two angles."

Guang-chan remained silent, seemingly uninterested in joining the discussion.

"The question is, can we actually deal with No. 88?" Li Xiaofei asked.

Bajie tilted his head in confusion. "No. 88? Who’s that? A technician from some club? What’s the point of dealing with him?"

Li Xiaofei was speechless

What the hell am I even talking to you for?

He turned back to Guang-chan and Little Huang. "Guang Bro, Little Huang, can you two handle the King of Terror’s avatar?"

Guang-chan let out a sly chuckle.

Little Huang answered confidently, "If Guang Bro takes a dump at his front door, that alone would be enough to blow him to pieces. It's a small matter."

Li Xiaofei’s mind froze, a massive question mark forming in his thoughts.

Killing someone with poop?

His newly sworn rat elder brother might not be entirely normal. Still, with Little Huang’s confidence, Li Xiaofei finally let out a small sigh of relief. At least this insane plan seemed to have a chance of succeeding.

He turned to look at Barush, who was still trembling at the control room door. Barush looked as though he wanted to crawl back into his mother’s womb. The fear on his face was palpable. To him, this situation wasn’t just terrifying—it was the kind of scenario he wouldn’t even dare to dream up in his worst nightmares.

From the conversation he had just overheard and their physical traits, Barush had essentially confirmed it: the lizard and the rat were none other than the legendary Two Apocalypse Fiends of Subspace.

The terrifying tales of the Silver Demon Rat and the Dung-Hued Lizard had circulated among Terror creatures in Subspace for over ten thousand years. When young Terror creatures misbehaved, the elders often used threats like, "Keep that up, and the tailless demon rat will eat you alive," or "Disobey again, and the dung-hued lizard will roast you." These warnings were highly effective.

Barush had never in his wildest dreams thought that one day, he would encounter both of these mythical figures at the same time as a low-ranking Terror creature. And worse, he had learned secrets he definitely shouldn’t know. He was sure they’d silence him.

So, when Li Xiaofei’s gaze swept over him, Barush immediately dropped to his knees with a loud thud and pleaded, "I just want a quick death!"

Li Xiaofei blinked, surprised. “You want to die? I was actually about to ask if you’d be willing to guide us to No. 88...”

Thud!

Barush slammed his head on the ground, tears streaming down his face. “Master, I’m willing! I’m absolutely willing!”

Guang-chan, rubbing its chin, studied Barush intently for a moment before looking at Little Huang and squeaking, "Squeak, squeak, squeak."

Little Huang tilted its head. "You think it’s suitable?"

Guang-chan nodded solemnly.

Little Huang considered this for a moment and said, “True, I’ve never met a Terror creature this afraid of dying before.”

Swish, swish, swish.

Guang-chan began scribbling on its writing board again.

It’s not a true Terror creature. It’s just a host for a parasite.

Little Huang’s eyes widened in surprise.

He observed Barush for a moment before shaking his head. "Can’t see it."

But Li Xiaofei immediately understood Guang-chan’s meaning. Indeed, Barush wasn’t a pure Terror creature. He was actually a Jiepeng human being used as a host.

No, more precisely, the body of a Jiepeng human was carrying the consciousness of a Terror entity. In short, it wasn’t entirely pure. Perhaps something went wrong during the parasitism process.

As a result, Barush displayed human-like emotional traits like fear of death, greed, cunning, betrayal, and terror. It was likely that these very traits had led him to betray No. 88 by attacking and devouring his fellow creatures in the Temple.

Originally, Barush had planned to wreak havoc on Earth, growing his strength to the point where he could confront No. 88. Then he’d return to Subspace in a dramatic show of triumph and revenge.

But now, Barush had been forced to return prematurely. Meeting No. 88 would likely mean his complete annihilation, with not even a trace of him left behind. But what choice did he have?

If he refused to guide them, he’d likely be roasted alive by the Dung-Hued Lizard. It was said this demon could control a terrifying flame, capable of roasting a victim for three days and nights without killing them, ensuring they were perfectly cooked and... delicious.

“Well then, he’s indeed a great choice,” Little Huang said, stroking his long chin with an evil grin. He looked at Barush and said, “Lead the way.”

Li Xiaofei leaned in and whispered, “Little Huang, what exactly are you and Guang Bro planning?”

“Don’t ask. You’ll find out soon enough,” Little Huang replied with a sly smile. “This time, we’re giving you a big gift.”

A big gift?

How big?

Size 34 or 36?

Li Xiaofei couldn’t help but feel curious. What could this so-called "big gift" possibly be?
