Chapter 3512: Dignity

"Seraph Bao Qi has entered Dukkha!"

"The Third Boss put so much pressure on him that Seraph Bao Qi needed to enter Dukkha! He’s finally a true Seraph! All the Seven Seraphs throughout history have been Dukkhans, and now, Bao Qi isn’t an exception to that anymore."

"This fight has shifted yet again. This Third Boss is too arrogant. By forcing Seraph Bao Qi to enter Dukkha, the Third Boss is going to face trouble."

No one could guess what sort of changes Bao Qi would experience by entering Dukkha. He might become stronger, weaker, or there might not be any change at all.

As far as the people of the Spirit Nidus were concerned, Bao Qi’s entry into Dukkha was certain to make him stronger, which fueled the intensity of the battle.

Only Lu Yin was aware that Bao Qi would not experience any change in strength by entering Dukkha. When they had fought in the Mirari Realm, Bao Qi had been forced to fail his Dukkhan and work with Yi Shang just to survive. Entering Dukkha would not change the outcome of the current battle.

Beneath the silent darkness, Bao Qi dropped his head.

Everyone waited for his next move.

Lu Yin stepped forward, moving directly in front of Bao Qi so that the Cauldron Bell was between them.

Lu Yin stretched out a hand, reaching for the sequence base.

Bao Qi’s head suddenly snapped up. His eyes were calm, yet they were also somehow terrifying. They were completely different from before. He stared at Lu Yin. "I may not be your match, but do you really think that you can defeat me so easily and take the Cauldron Bell? Ridiculous!"

As the man spoke, his aura shifted once more. A brutal light filled his eyes again, and his red short hair started to fall out as blood started to leak from every part of his body.

Lu Yin was taken aback. Bao Qi had not hesitated to fail his Dukkha and revert back to the Origin realm. He had already realized that entering Dukkha was useless.

It was no wonder why Bao Qi had been able to become a Seraph. Such decisiveness was rare.

If a cultivator reverted back to the Origin realm after entering Dukkha, they would abandon all hope of ever achieving Immortality.

When Lu Yin had fought against Meng Sang, that Seraph had also faced a risk of death, and he had similarly reverted back to the Origin realm.

However, how much time had Bao Qi spent as a Dukkhan? It had been barely a moment. The man’s decisiveness for such a monumental decision meant that Lu Yin could not deny the man’s qualifications to be a Seraph. Bao Qi clearly understood himself. Still, so what if he fell back to the Origin realm? What difference would that make? It would not change the outcome of the fight at all.

Everyone was stunned. Bao Qi had just entered Dukkha, and yet he had immediately fallen back. What was going on?

No one could understand.

Bao Qi alone knew that entering Dukkha had not improved his strength at all. In fact, doing so had completely altered his personality, giving him a calm rationality. However, rationality would not help him in the current battle.

The man finally understood why the High Seraph had shared that option with him, given that Bao Qi had believed that he would never use it.

It was an option that he would only ever use with his original personality. His rational version would never be willing.

Two people were holding onto the Cauldron Bell.

Lu Yin pressed his second hand to the Cauldron Bell, and then he watched as sequence particles filled the sky. Through the rising particles, he could see resolve fill Bao Qi's eyes. Did the Seraph have another trick up his sleeve? That should not be the case. When Lu Yin had fought the man in the Mirari Realm, Bao Qi had not used anything further, even while dying. Right, there’s still the High Seraph.

Lu Yin put some power into his hand, channeling a terrifying surge of strength through the Cauldron Bell that slammed into Bao Qi, causing him to spit out blood.

Bao Qi’s eyes grew even more ferocious as blood leaked from his mouth to stain his chest. He clung to the Cauldron Bell. "The Cauldron Bell is mine! No one can take it!"

He let out a roar as sequence particles burst out from the Cauldron Bell, and the sequence base suddenly cracked.

Lu Yin stared at the Cauldron Bell. Beside him, Lightstream flickered, reversing time by one second.

With that second, the Cauldron Bell was returned to normal.

Bao Qi was stunned. What...?

Lu Yin struck the Cauldron Bell with his hand a second time. Another surge of strength passed through the sequence base and slammed into Bao Qi, sending the man flying as blood sprayed from his mouth.

The Cauldron Bell dropped to the ground, landing with a deafening sound.

No matter how many tricks the High Seraph might employ, if the Cauldron Bell was taken away before the battle even started, it would be extremely difficult for Bao Qi to gain any advantage from using tricks.

Still, Lu Yin did not dare to underestimate the High Seraph. It was possible that even Bao Qi’s failure was within the High Seraph’s expectations.

Lu Yin’s head suddenly whipped around, and he stared in one direction. A sharp, mournful wail rang out. The sound caused Lu Yin to feel nauseous. It was as though countless negative emotions were erupting within him at the same time, accompanied by the sound of a child crying. The sound instantly gave him a splitting headache.

The people watching the battle had not yet recovered from their shock from seeing Bao Qi be sent flying when they heard the wail.

Someone exclaimed in horror, "It’s Wraithmother! That’s her lament!"

Across the Umbral Deep, a figure that looked like a ghost drifted towards Lu Yin. She was cradling a baby in her arms, and her eye sockets were empty of all but blood and tears. She stared at Lu Yin while showing an expression that looked half like a smile and half a sneer. "Return my child! Return my child! Return my child..."

At the same time, two attacks, a finger and a claw, shot at Lu Yin from another two directions.

Bloodlust welled up in his eyes. "It’s you again! I will find you sooner or later."

As he spoke, he waved his hand, and a terrifying surge of power shattered the two attacks in an instant.

However, Wraithmother was already approaching. She faced Lu Yin with her mouth open as she released an even more heart-rending wail.

In Lu Yin’s inner universe, his star of consciousness spun, and his consciousness erupted, filling the region and enveloping Wraithmother. "Stop these tricks."

Wraithmother’s wail was not enough to withstand a Universe-level consciousness. It struck her directly, sending her flying back as she spat out blood. The child she carried fell from her arms, and as it fell, its face locked onto Lu Yin and smiled. It was a grotesque, terrifying, and sickening face, and just looking at it sent a chill down Lu Yin's spine.

Wraithmother panicked, and terror filled her voice. "My child! My child..."

The child dropped into the Umbral Deep, which caused Wraithmother to enter a frenzy. She suppressed the agony induced by Lu Yin's consciousness attack that had nearly caused her to faint. Blood streamed from her seven orifices, and her pale body started to glow. "Return my child!"

Her wail resonated with the Cauldron Bell, and it rumbled loudly. It released a deep sound from beside Lu Yin, and that sound resonated with the anguished wail.

Lu Yin pressed a hand to the Cauldron Bell, suppressing its sound. With his other hand, he gently flicked a finger at Wraithmother. An attack ripped through the void to pierce her neck. She coughed up blood as she staggered back.

Lu Yin seized that opportunity to collect the Cauldron Bell, but to his shock, the Cauldron Bell had cracked.

How could that have happened? Bao Qi had already been sent flying, so how could the bell have cracked? Lu Yin looked over at Wraithmother, who was still spitting out blood. Her power had triggered the Cauldron Bell, causing it to crack. She was the High Seraph’s insurance.

Upon cracking, the Cauldron Bell released a flood of Sound sequence particles, and they all streamed towards Bao Qi. These particles had formed a connection with Bao Qi due to him cultivating with the sequence base for so many years. They only acknowledged him.

He had once used the Cauldron Bell to achieve a level of strength that qualified him as a Seraph, but with the sequence base broken, all of its sequence particles were released at once. The Cauldron Bell had been constructed from the sequence particles of 105 powerhouses who had lived across the eons. In one moment, Bao Qi could release all of those sequence particles, as well as his own, to deliver a universe-shattering attack.

However, the price of this attack was the destruction of the Cauldron Bell.

The moment Wraithmother took action, Bao Qi had already been abandoned. He had not merely lost his position as a Seraph, but also forsaken as an individual.

For one of the Seven Seraphs to rely on another to ambush a challenger in the middle of a battle was so despicable that the man would not be able to live in the Spirit Nidus any longer.

The High Seraph had considered abandoning Bao Qi long ago.

Additionally, the destruction of the Cauldron Bell gave everyone in the Spirit Nidus motivation and anger. Bao Qi had been the one to destroy a sequence base, which made him a hated pariah in the eyes of the Spirit Nidus.

Bao Qi understood this clearly. If he was still a rational Dukkhan, he would have never done such a thing. Only as a reckless Ortuser would he consider such things. Besides, he had no other available choices.

The outcome of this battle had been predestined long ago.

The Cauldron Bell’s sequence particles filled the sky as Bao Qi crawled up from the ground. He was covered in blood, and a cruel grin stretched across his face as he looked at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin looked at the Seraph. "Is this worth it? You're just the High Seraph’s pawn."

Bao Qi laughed. "I fought a pack of mad dogs to become a Seraph. I won't let you take it from me so easily. Consider this battle my last one for the title of Seraph."

The man’s mouth opened, and the endless sequence particles surged towards him.

People watching from all directions were stunned by the sight. Those unable to see sequence particles were fine, but any who could were chilled to the bone. They had never seen such a terrifying number of sequence particles before. It felt like their number could flood an entire universe.

These sequence particles had only appeared after the Cauldron Bell was completely broken.

Bao Qi was now hated by the entire megaverse. He had destroyed one of the Spirit Nidus’s ten sequence bases, and he had also worked with others to ambush the Third Boss in the middle of a duel. He was a sinner and was no longer recognized as a Seraph.

In the Wisdom Domain, Old Yu sighed. "He may have become a Seraph, but given that he was always just a pawn, this is the only fate in store for him."

High Seraph, what a clever move.

"How ruthless! Bao Qi would rather die than let the Third Boss leave this battle unscathed."

"But that Third Boss is also ruthless. He actually forced Bao Qi to the point of having no choice but to pursue mutual destruction."

"Wraithmother was severely injured by that attack, yet that crazy woman is no weakling. She once also fought for the title of Seraph."

"I'm not getting involved in this now..."

"We never intended to get involved..."

...

Lu Yin stood above the Umbral Deep. The wounded and bleeding Wraithmother lay to one side, while Bao Qi and a maelstrom of endless sequence particles stood on the other.

Did the High Seraph truly believe that the power unleashed by the destruction of the Cauldron Bell would be enough for Bao Qi to defeat Lu Yin? That was not only wrong, but it was actually absolutely impossible. The High Seraph had merely wanted the Cauldron Bell to shatter so that Lu Yin would be prevented from mending his broken karma, nothing more.

This was the High Seraph’s true goal.

Bao Qi was already doomed. From the moment that Lu Yin had challenged the Seraph, or rather, from the moment Bao Qi had agreed to the challenge, he had been doomed.

Lu Yin stared at Bao Qi, who was about to unleash his final strike.

The man had had a better death in the branch stream of the River of Aeons, before Lu Yin had reverted time by thirty-seven years. That would have been better than being used by the High Seraph and not even knowing the true reason for his death. The man’s fate was tragic, and he could only be pitied.

What did it matter that he was a Seraph? The truth was that, from the moment the Cauldron Bell had been given to Bao Qi, his fate had been sealed.

Lu Yin raised a hand and threw a palm strike.

People watched in disbelief as a portion of the Cauldron Bell’s sequence particles, which should have been completely under Bao Qi’s control, swept over to Lu Yin’s palm.

It was a sight that left everyone dumbfounded, including Dukkhans like Mr. Li.

Was this a battle technique? Could the Third Boss manipulate another person’s sequence particles?

Progenitor Ku was incredibly talented. He had broken a seal of karma that the Immortal, Master Qing Cao, had placed on Lu Yin. Similarly, Progenitor Chen was a peerless genius. He had created Linked Palm, which allowed him to borrow any power to release his own attack.

Linked Palm made it impossible for Bao Qi to unleash the Cauldron Bell's full sequence particles. He stared at Lu Yin, determined to seize the sequence particles back.

Lu Yin’s palm struck. The attack passed through the void, causing Bao Qi’s pupils to constrict sharply. He opened his mouth to release a roar. Both absolute darkness and a multi-colored light erupted, shooting at Lu Yin.

The two attacks collided, and the void collapsed. Cracks appeared throughout the Umbral Deep, and the entire Wisdom Domain trembled. Massive spatial fissures appeared throughout the domain, one of which opened up beneath the feet of Mr. Li and Old Yu.

This was a battle between two men with the strength of the Seven Seraphs. What did it matter if death appeared?

Bao Qi was not being used because he was a fool, but rather because his pride prevented him from accepting total defeat. Even if it led to his death, he would rather put up a fight worthy of his status as a Seraph.
