Chapter 3426: Battle At The Boundary

At the Seraph’s summons, experts continued to arrive at the Spirit Nidus’s boundary.

“There are already six Spirit Ancestors here, and yet Seraph Yi is still calling for more!” someone at the boundary remarked.

“That’s not all. I just saw two more Spirit Ancestors arrive. Earlier, there were even two sequence powerhouses present.”

“Wait, is that Dong Yi?”

“Is Dong Yi here? That makes sense. He was groomed by the Chamber of Commerce.”

“So, that’s Dong Yi? Ranked seventh on the White Spirit List. Anyone who can get onto that list has a ninety-percent chance of breaking through to the Spirit Origin Realm. The next step after that is to compete for a Seraph’s seat. Those people are only two steps away from becoming a Seraph!”

“That’s not really accurate. After all, those two steps have stopped countless people. There are hidden Spirit Ancestors across all thirty-six domains, and there are plenty of Ortusers as well. Despite that, there are only the Seven Seraphs. Do you remember how brutal things got when Seraph Bao Qi rose to power? If he hadn’t taken a shortcut by obtaining the Cauldron Bell, he might not have succeeded in becoming a Seraph at all.”

“Enough! Seraphs are not figures that people like us can discuss so casually. Be careful, or else you’ll bring trouble down upon yourself.”

As time passed, more and more experts gathered at the boundary.

Yi Shang waited, unaware that Boundless was drawing closer. The High Seraph was aware that the battleship was approaching, but he chose not to reveal the matter. He had granted the Seraph permission to visit Beacon City, but would the Seraph and his people ever finish their journey?

Yi Shang turned and caught a glimpse of a faint bit of killing intent. The Three Assassins were also present. He had paid a steep price for their services.

Over thirty years ago, when the vanguard to storm the Tianyuan Megaverse had been formed, the Three Assassins had been part of the invasion. Their combined strength was not to be underestimated.

Hmm? Cai Sandao has also arrived.

Yi Shang had succeeded in enlisting the Cai family through using favors that he had painstakingly accrued over time. While Cai Sandao was far from being a match for a Seraph, the fact that he was on the White Spirit List meant that not even a Seraph could simply order the man about. Yi Shang had exhausted a great number of favors that the Cai family had owed him in order to convince Cai Sandao to join the excursion.

Cai Sandao’s arrival sent yet another shockwave across the group gathered at the boundary.

Dong Yi’s presence had been expected, since he had been nurtured by the Chamber of Commerce. However, Cai Sandao’s arrival demonstrated the extent of Seraph Yi’s influence.

So far, the Seraph had gathered three sequence powerhouses, twelve Spirit Ancestors, two people who were ranked on the White Spirit List, and even experts in the Spirit Origin Realm, which were the equivalent of the Tianyuan Megaverse’s Ortusers. As for the Three Assassins, no one even knew that they were present.

With such a formidable force assembled, Seraph Yi was confident that he could face the forces of the Tianyuan Megaverse. What could such a pathetic megaverse gather to attack the Spirit Nidus?

While surprised by the Tianyuan Megaverse’s initiative to leave their megaverse and attack the Spirit Nidus, both Yuan Qi and Tian Ci were in that megaverse. It was quite possible that Beacon City had been attacked by people fleeing the Tianyuan Megaverse. Seraph Yi refused to believe that Tianyuan cultivators could have defeated Yuan Qi and the others, especially since they had been working with Aeternus.

The forces that had assembled at the boundary, even without the Seraph getting involved, was enough to fight against another Seraph.

Everyone necessary for the excursion had already arrived. Yi Shang immediately sent a message to the High Seraph, requesting permission to depart for Beacon City.

The High Seraph did not respond.

The Seraph kept trying to get in touch with the man.

Half a month passed, but Yi Shang was still unable to contact the High Seraph. Seraph Yi’s expression grew increasingly worse. The High Seraph would not toy with him, as Yi Shang was also a Seraph. The High Seraph could not do such a thing, so why was he refusing to respond?

Yi Shang had no choice but to continue patiently reaching out.

Without the High Seraph’s consent, it was illegal to leave the Spirit Nidus.

More than a month passed before Seraph Yi finally managed to connect with the High Seraph.

He officially received permission to leave for Beacon City.

Yi Shang ordered, “Open the gates.”

The massive stone gates creaked as they opened. Aboard a battleship, Seraph Yi stood alongside several sequence powerhouses, staring into the endless darkness of the Aevum Inch. Ten years. In ten years, they would arrive at Beacon City. The Seraph could only hope that Yi Xia was still alive.

Inevitably, the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse would flee to the Consciousness Megaverse, but no matter where they fled, they would still be doomed.

Forty years ago, Yi Shang had failed to fulfill his dream of invading the Tianyuan Megaverse. This time, he would satisfy himself by dealing with this group of cultivators.

As the battleship prepared to set out, a tiny dot appeared in the darkness of the Aevum Inch. The dot steadily grew larger.

Yi Shang frowned. What is that?

Is that... a battleship?

He had never seen such a battleship before.

Abruptly, realization struck the Seraph. It was the Tianyuan Megaverse! The High Seraph had delayed his reply until exactly ten years after the incident at Beacon City had passed. This battleship had to be carrying the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse. This was not good.

“Close the gates!”

Yi Shang instantly managed to piece all the details together, but his conclusion caused his heart to drop. He had badly underestimated the Tianyuan Megaverse.

He had previously assumed that the Tianyuan Megaverse had reached Beacon City because they had been invited by the Consciousness Megaverse to join forces against the Spirit Nidus. The other option that Yi Shang had considered was that they were a group of refugees who had simply abandoned the Tianyuan Megaverse altogether. Regardless of which option was true, Yi Shang had not seen any reason to be overly concerned, and he had instead focused on settling the problems at Beacon City. However, seeing the people of the Tianyuan Megaverse actively trying to attack the Spirit Nidus caused the Seraph to realize that there was a much, much bigger problem than what he had ever imagined.

Reaching Beacon City and invading the Spirit Nidus were two entirely different matters.

The fact that they had the confidence to attack the Spirit Nidus itself suggested that their strength was extraordinary.

Yi Shang was no longer thinking about how to eliminate the Tianyuan cultivators, but instead how to ensure that they were kept outside the stone gates.

They could not be allowed to enter the Spirit Nidus.

Seraph Yi also realized what the High Seraph had been doing; Yi Shang had been granted time to gather his followers and other powerful cultivators, concentrating a large force at the boundary. If a battle erupted, Yi Shang’s entire faction would most likely be sacrificed. He refused to allow that to happen.

If he sacrificed his faction’s experts for Yi Xia, who would ensure that Yi Xia would eventually become a Seraph?

The massive stone gates started to slowly close again.

On Boundless, the Origin Progenitor was peering into the distance. A single step took him past the stone gate. His arms rose, and he effortlessly forced the gates back open, which shook everyone from the Spirit Nidus to their core.

A completely unknown aura rippled through space.

In front of the Origin Progenitor, a barrier appeared. The Impression Realm had been used. Yi Shang had reacted instantly, and he was attacking to drive the Origin Progenitor back.

“So, is this the Impression Realm?” The Origin Progenitor threw a palm strike that sent ripples through space, and it even caused the Impression Realm to start showing signs of collapse.

Yi Shang was horrified. This person was at the High Seraph’s level.

“Retreat! Everyone, retreat!”

The Origin Progenitor vanished again. When he reappeared, he was chasing after Seraph Yi.

Boundless passed through the stone gate, officially entering the Spirit Nidus.

At that moment, something in the Spirit Nidus shifted. The High Seraph’s attention turned to the boundary. This moment marked the Tianyuan Megaverse’s official invasion of the Spirit Nidus.

This was the same scene that had played out in the branch stream of the River of Aeons, only reversed.

This moment irrevocably transformed the history of the Spirit Nidus.

No one knew where the future would lead, aside from the High Seraph. He had plotted against Seraph Yi Shang, setting things up so that the Tianyuan Megaverse would break the Daquan Domain apart. The High Seraph had already calculated everything concerning Lu Yin, and he was certain that the unresolved karma would be enough to bury Lu Yin on its own.

The High Seraph may not have escaped the temporal reversion, but he had managed to retain his memories. That proved the man’s strength.

Once he reset the Lesser Spirit Megaverse, everything would be dealt with.

No matter if it was the Spirit Nidus, the Tianyuan Megaverse, or even the Consciousness Megaverse, everything would end up at the High Seraph’s mercy.

Chu Yi, Wilderness God, Lu Tianyi, Sovereign Dou Sheng, and many other experts shot away from Boundless, racing across the Spirit Nidus's boundary.

At the boundary, aside from the experts from the Daquan Domain who had been summoned by Seraph Yi Shang, there were also the defenders who were always stationed there. While there were no cultivators who were powerful enough to compare to the likes of the Seraph, Dong Yi, or Cai Sandao, there were far more sequence powerhouses than what the Daquan Domain possessed.

More than a dozen sequence powerhouses moved out in unison. They were working together with the people of the Daquan Domain.

A battle erupted that could only be compared to the battles at the Immemorial Citadel, or during the previous timeline at the boundary of the Tianyuan Megaverse.

Everyone involved was at least a sequence powerhouse.

However, their numbers meant nothing, and their defenses proved futile.

The Megalith was wrapped around Lu Yin’s waist, and the Pridebeast perched on his shoulder. A casual wave of his hand extinguished stars and replaced the universe itself. Verdant Eternity spread out and Infinity swirled about, shattering all in its path.

The Megalith and the Pridebeast both shot forward.

Another battleship sat in front of Boundless, though it was a great deal smaller. It was the vessel that Seraph Yi had intended to use to carry his forces to Beacon City.

On that smaller battleship, Dong Yi, Cai Sandao, and many others were stunned by what they saw.

One terrifying expert after another shot out of Boundless. How could there be so many powerhouses?

Without another thought, Cai Sandao turned and fled.

Dong Yi also tried to flee, but he was a step too late. As he tried to escape, Ce Wangtian arrived, traveling through the void. He used his secret technique, and an astral chessboard appeared as the stars became pieces on the board. Pieces could be destroyed, but the board could not. With nothing more than his slipper, Ce Wangtian delivered utter calamity despite his unseemly appearance.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, the Three Assassins exchanged glances. “Do we run or stay?”

“We’ve already been paid, so we can’t leave.”

“If we don’t escape, we’re dead for sure. Dong Yi was defeated in an instant.”

“Run.”

They were already too late. Second Life had targeted the assassins.

Their confrontation might have been destined. In the River of Aeons’ branch stream, the Three Assassins had killed the Abandoned, which had provoked Second Life. The two groups had then fought a fierce battle on the deck of the Spirit Nidus’s battleship. Ultimately, Second Life had worn down the Three Assassins, trading life-for-life and defeating the three. That scenario was repeating now as the Three Assassins were confronted by Second Life.

However, unlike before, Luo Shan was working with Second Life this time.

Wilderness God’s claws slashed, and he instantly tore through a Spirit Ancestor.

Sovereign Dou Sheng swept his golden cudgel across the battlefield. The man could not be stopped.

Mu Zhu, Ye Wu, and many other experts crushed the defenders at the Spirit Nidus’s boundary.

Azure sword qi swept out from Progenitor Xi as she used her Qingluo Jiantian Intent to destroy all spiritual force in the path of her sword.

Ba Liu, Yi Yao, Cai Jun, and even Old Tao were frozen in place. Was this a battle? No, it was a complete massacre. They were at the Spirit Nidus’s boundary, and even a Seraph was present. Despite that, the Spirit Nidus’s forces were being thoroughly decimated.

When had the Spirit Nidus become so weak?

Not even Lu Yin had anticipated the High Seraph to make such a big move.

The High Seraph never took action directly. Two of the Seven Seraphs were currently in the Consciousness Megaverse, while no one knew about the situation concerning Meng Sang and True God. Yuan Qi had been subdued by Lu Yuan, and there was karma that needed to be resolved between Lu Yin and Bao Qi. It was only expected that the High Seraph would keep Bao Qi away, but even so, where were the other Seraphs? Not even the Gate of Law’s Zhan family had appeared.

Lu Yin had expected to be greeted by a grueling battle at the boundary.

At the very least, the High Seraph should have gathered countless experts from all across the Spirit Nidus to set an ambush for the invaders.

Instead, there was only what Boundless had encountered, and this group could not even compare to the Spirit Nidus’s vanguard.

What was the High Seraph thinking? Was he really purposefully allowing Lu Yin into the Spirit Nidus?

Was the man truly so confident that everything was under his control?

The more freedom the High Seraph gave Lu Yin, the more uneasy Lu Yin felt.

However, that unease would vanish as his strength grew.

Since the High Seraph dared to gamble so big, so would Lu Yin. It was only a question of who would be willing to go further.

This boundary... let it disappear. Let's see just how capable the High Seraph is.

Lu Yin released his inner universe. He might not be able to do anything about those who had already escaped, but none who remained would escape.

No one could stop the experts from the Tianyuan Megaverse. There was too large a gap. From the perspective of the Spirit Nidus, this battle was much like a sequence powerhouse trying to fight a Seraph. It was no battle at all.

The Tianyuan Megaverse did not even suffer any casualties. Their experts were simply too powerful.

The Spirit Nidus had never been invaded so boldly. To say that blood stained the stars would be an understatement.

In the end, Seraph Yi Shang fled, abandoning the Impression Realm.
