Standing Next To You-Chapter 365: Drag Him Out
Chapter 365: Drag Him Out
Thirty minutes earlier.
"Do I really have to go?" Bei Sangyun asked once more, looking at Fei Chuan pleadingly, hoping he would change his mind.
"It’s already late. Driver Wang is waiting for you downstairs. Besides, we’ll see each other tomorrow."
Fei Chuan found Bei Sangyun’s childish behavior amusing. Although his heart wavered at her pleading eyes, he couldn’t give in. After all, it was Bei Sangyun’s reputation that was at risk here.
Moreover, that ’bastard’ was present at the banquet. Even if he might not show up here, Fei Chuan didn’t want Bei Sangyun in the same vicinity as him.
Fei Chuan turned her around and gently pushed her toward the door. "We already agreed on this. My fever has gone down, so now do your part. Go home safely."
Bei Sangyun suddenly turned around and hugged his waist. "Then let me hug you for a few minutes."
Fei Chuan’s heartbeat quickened, he didn’t know where to put his hands.
Why had she become so clingy all of a sudden? Although he wasn’t complaining.
"...I-I’m still sick, Bei Sangyun."
"My immunity is strong." Bei Sangyun clung to him.
They stayed like this for a while.
Bei Sangyun sighed inwardly. She really hated the ’parting’ part. The longer she spent with him, the tougher it was to separate from him.
She really had to work hard so she could get Fei Chuan away from here sooner and spend the rest of their lives without being separated.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a panicked Maid Yan rushed in. "Young Master-!" Her words were cut off when she saw the couple in close embrace.
Maid Yan pointed at the door, "The door wasn’t closed, so I thought..."
Fei Chuan lightly pushed Bei Sangyun away. "...It’s not what you’re thinking—"
"Ah, right! We don’t have much time, Young Master! They’re here!" Maid Yan remembered the urgent matter at hand. "Young Master Fei Min is downstairs!"
Fei Min?
Fei Chuan’s face went pale. What was Fei Min doing here, of all times?
He looked down at Bei Sangyun, his expression filled with anxiety and concern.
Fei Chuan understood the implications of Fei Min’s arrival. He had assumed that with Fei Hua Jiang’s welcoming party, Fei Min would be too preoccupied boasting at the banquet to visit today.
Typically, Fei Chuan would have been prepared for Fei Min’s visits. However, due to his illness and the expectation that Fei Min would come the following day, he hadn’t made any preparations.
Furthermore, he hadn’t anticipated Bei Sangyun’s presence here.
Fei Min must not meet Bei Sangyun; he needed to protect her at all costs.
Fei Chuan pulled Bei Sangyun towards the door in a hurry. "Bei Sangyun, you have to leave now."
Bei Sangyun was confused, but seeing their serious expressions, she did not ask and followed Fei Chuan obediently.
However, as they reached the corridor leading towards the stairs, they heard voices and footsteps approaching from the far end.
Fei Chuan froze.
He stopped and whipped his head back.
There was nowhere else to go but back into his room.
The second floor has the library, the guest room, and his room. His room was at the farthest corner, where they currently were.
He had no other option but to hide Bei Sangyun in his bedroom.
Fei Chuan pulled Bei Sangyun back to his room. "Maid Yan, stall them at the door."
Maid Yan nodded with a grave expression. She stood outside Fei Chuan’s bedroom, as if ready to face death.
Fei Chuan locked the door and looked around.
He deliberated whether he should hide Bei Sangyun in the inner room, where his bed was. But knowing that bastard, they would surely barge in whenever they wanted.
He pulled Bei Sangyun to the bathroom. "Don’t come out no matter what. Please promise me."
Bei Sangyun met his solemn eyes. She hesitated.
The way Maid Yan and Fei Chuan were acting hinted that something bad was about to happen.
What if something happened to Fei Chuan? If that were to happen, she knew she couldn’t stand to just sit quietly.
"Please, Bei Sangyun," Fei Chuan pleaded.
"I—"
Bang!
The sound of the door being slammed open could be heard outside.
Maid Yan shouted, "Young Master, you can’t just barge in!"
Fei Chuan looked at her pleadingly before letting go. "Don’t open the door, okay?"
He then locked the bathroom door before leaving.
The bathroom went silent with only the noise coming from outside.
Bei Sangyun crept closer to the door, pressing her ear against it, trying to listen to the noise beyond the door.
...
Fei Min pushed the maid away.
"Why do you keep blocking the door? You and that old hag, do you all want to die?!"
Maid Yan was a thin, small woman. Being shoved away by a man twice her size hurt. She stood up while holding her shoulder.
"The Young Master is sick. Please go back."
However, Fei Min already rushed inside. The butler he brought had the keys to this building. He didn’t need permission and could go wherever he wanted.
He ignored Maid Yan’s cries and went to the inner room. At this moment, Fei Chuan had already come out of the bathroom. They faced each other in the room.
"Ha! I knew you were lying! Sick? This bastard just wants to slap my older brother’s face!" Fei Min gazed at Fei Chuan menacingly. He looked him up and down.
Seeing Fei Chuan’s handsome face, no longer hidden by his gloomy appearance, fueled his rage.
Especially those indifferent eyes, coldly appraising everyone as if he were superior, were the most infuriating of all.
"You are really something, Fei Chuan. Have you forgotten the lessons I taught you a while ago? Or is it because I’ve been away for so long that you have forgotten those lessons?"
Fei Chuan did not respond and just looked at him. He was neither intimidated nor showed the look of fear that Fei Min hoped to see.
Fei Min’s face contorted in anger. "I told you to cover that f*cking face of yours!"
He snatched the nearest object—a flower vase—and threw it at Fei Chuan.
Fei Chuan swiftly avoided the vase, allowing it to crash near his feet. The broken glass shattered across the floor.
Fei Chuan frowned. He worried the loud noise might have alarmed the person in the bathroom.
He glanced up at Fei Min and coldly glared at him. "I thought you went abroad to train, but it seems you’re still as ill-mannered and hot-tempered as ever."
Fei Min’s eyes widened with rage. How long had it been since Fei Chuan had responded to him so boldly?
Fei Chuan’s condescending gaze was already hurtful to the eyes, seeing him act so mighty made Fei Min want to crush whatever silly pride he had.
"So they were telling the truth. You’ve really grown some guts. Is it because of that wild child from the Lin family? You must think having a Lin as your girlfriend will change your standing in the family. Well, you’re wrong. You could have chosen anyone to at least save face. But you chose the illegitimate child. How foolish are you?"
Fei Chuan’s gaze turned several degrees colder. He glanced at Fei Ling behind Fei Min and smirked. "I see. You’re still as naive as ever. Some devil whispered to you, and you came running."
Fei Min’s smirk disappeared. His eyes filled with fury. "You have really become fearless. Let me remind you again of your position in this family!"
He turned to the butler behind him. "Drag him out!"
