Standing Next To You-Chapter 347: The Past- First meeting with Lin Fei II
Chapter 347: The Past- First meeting with Lin Fei II
Bei Sangyun’s defeat at the piano duel had left her father disappointed and angry. And seeing her father’s cold face, made her scared.
She was scared that she would be hated by her father.
Since that day, she had tirelessly practiced, determined to perfect her skills. She spent hours in front of the piano, practicing until she could play flawlessly with her eyes closed.
Yet, despite her efforts, she couldn’t keep up with all of their talents.
The accumulated stress of the past two years had made her quick to anger.
And today, she was truly angry. Even as a child, she had never been one to accept injustice quietly, especially when her emotions were manipulated.
Grandma had always taught her not to tolerate being mistreated, to fight back when necessary.
In a fit of rage, Bei Sangyun snatched the hand fan from Lin Sanju and tore it apart.
Lin Sanju was horrified; the fan was a perfect match for her expensive cheongsam, crafted by a renowned designer with genuine jewels. It was her current favorite.
"You destroyed my hand fan!" Lin Sunji screamed in anger.
But Bei Sangyun wasn’t finished.
She seized a glass of wine from a passing butler and emptied it onto Lin Sunji’s expensive dress. Lin Sunji attempted to dodge, but most of the contents spilled onto her, leaving her tearful and unable to retaliate physically in public.
"You’re insane, Bei Sangyun!"
Lin Sunji regretted her actions. She had known about Bei Sangyun’s temper and had purposely provoked her in public, expecting a reaction.
However, she hadn’t anticipated Bei Sangyun’s violent outburst.
Why had she destroyed her cherished hand fan and ruined her dress? She had pleaded with her mother to purchase that set! If she had known, she would have used Lin Xiano to provoke Bei Sangyun instead, saving her dress and hand fan from destruction.
Lin Xiaoni was taken aback by Bei Sangyun’s behavior. Memories of Bei Sangyun’s past wild and physical fights flooded her mind. She instinctively protected her prized Imperial Jade hairpin, which was more valuable than the hanfu she wore. However, Bei Sangyun’s keen eyes didn’t miss it.
With a fierce glare, Bei Sangyun reached for it.
"No! Not my Imperial Jade!" Lin Xiaoni tried to shield it desperately, but Bei Sangyun’s strength prevailed, leaving behind strands of her hair.
Lin Xiaoni winced in pain, her heart pounding as she watched Bei Sangyun attempt to break it. Fortunately, her high-quality jadeite jade proved resilient to Bei Sangyun’s bare hands. Yet, her relief was short-lived as Bei Sangyun flung it forcefully to the ground, the impact echoing loudly.
Lin Xiaoni’s heart skipped a beat, but her cherished hairpin remained intact.
Like a crazed girl, Bei Sangyun stomped on it relentlessly until cracks marred its surface and its edges chipped.
Butler Xin intervened just in time, pulling Bei Sangyun away amidst the shocked stares of onlookers.
The outburst had erupted suddenly and dissipated just as swiftly, leaving the hall in stunned silence before murmurs erupted.
Witnessing the third young miss of the Lin family’s erratic behavior left many in disbelief, while others had anticipated such a spectacle.
In the corner, a circle of young masters was also silent and left speechless by the scene. When the hall erupted in murmurs, they recovered and began to gossip among themselves. A young man in the group suddenly asked a handsome teenager in their center.
"Is your cousin always that crazy?"
Lin Fei glanced at his new friend and chuckled, "Crazy? That’s just perfectly normal."
The young masters around him: "...."
Lin Fei saw their reactions and smiled. "I mean, who wouldn’t get angry if someone messed with you?"
The young masters: "??"
Lin Fei laughed and patted the young man who had asked him. "Most people in a family like mine are insane. Of course, you wouldn’t understand."
The young man was still confused while the others who understood Lin Fei’s joke glanced at the young man mockingly. He was being openly mocked and didn’t even know it.
Fortunately, the important guests arrived late and did not witness the unsightly scene. And with the arrival of Old Master Lin, the event was eventually forgotten. But that day, the rumor that the third young miss had a bad temper spread in high society.
However, there were always new rumors spreading every day, and it soon got buried among the others.
...
Butler Xin threw Bei Sangyun into the empty drawing room, his voice edged with frustration.
"What were you thinking, Young Miss? Isn’t dressing like this embarrassing enough for you?!" freёnovelkiss.com
Bei Sangyun’s fists clenched in realization of her actions. Her heart still raced with anger. "...They deceived me."
"You’ve been foolish to fall for their tricks. Haven’t I warned you repeatedly? In this house, everyone is your enemy. I remind you every day to keep your guard up."
Butler Xin was frustrated. He had only been away for half a day, and this had transpired.
"This happened because of your stubbornness. Didn’t I tell you not to make hasty decisions on your own? You should have consulted me about this dress beforehand."
Bei Sangyun bowed her head. She couldn’t refute Butler Xin’s words; she had indeed let her guard down.
"Not only did you show up like a clown, but you also caused a scene. If this reaches Master’s ears, he won’t just be disappointed. He’ll punish you severely."
Bei Sangyun’s face drained of color. It wasn’t the punishment she feared, but the thought of seeing her father’s disgusted and cold gaze that terrified her the most.
Clutching Butler Xin’s sleeve, she pleaded, "Please, don’t tell Father."
"Do you think he won’t hear about it if I don’t tell him? Everyone witnessed your loss of temper and violent actions. It’s better if he hears it from me."
Bei Sangyun panicked. She couldn’t comprehend what had happened earlier. She had snapped, and before she knew it, she was stomping on Lin Xiaoni’s hairpin.
"...I was wrong. I won’t do it again. Please, help me." All Bei Sangyun could do was acknowledge her mistake and beg for forgiveness.
Alone in the house, her father was her only source of emotional and mental support. If she disappointed him again and he abandoned her, she would be left with nothing.
Butler Xin firmly pulled Bei Sangyun’s hand away from his sleeve. "If you truly acknowledge your mistake, then you must control that violent temper of yours. Never reveal your ugly side again. Stay in this room until the event is over."
