Chapter 187: Chapter 187 Searching

"Just like the rest of the artifacts, I think it spoke to her, but if that’s the case" Evelyn paused before speaking.

"It means the artifact hasn’t found a suitable person for hundreds of years till now, which is both surprising and frightening," Evelyn said.

"I doubt we would be able to find more artifacts, and besides artifacts doesn’t make stronger mages, stronger mages commands artifacts" Victoria spoke.

"Both of you are powerful, but you can’t use any of the artifacts?" The Queen responded as she balanced herself on the chair causing Victoria’s face to twitch a little but the Queen didn’t catch it.

"None of the artifacts matches Victoria’s powers, and for me, I don’t need an artifact, and I also think that the same for Victoria"

"This isn’t a time of want and needs, Avalon’s biggest problem are demons, we can’t have another problem weighing us down, if she does attack, I hope you have a plan to stop her" the Queen spoke as she stood up.

Both of them stood up after her and bow as she walked away leaving the room as the guards opened the door from the outside, after which they sat down.

"No matter what you have to say don’t, we already have extra guards and scouts searching, there’s nothing we can do" Evelyn spoke as she stood up but she could see it on Victoria’s face, she was angry.

Victoria never did like the Queen, just because she was lucky to be born first to the Royal family she get to rule over her who worked her whole life for the power she now commands.

But Victoria wasn’t going to do anything rash, Evelyn also knew that, no matter how angry she got, she wouldn’t do anything that would cause a problem for her family, even though the Aldenworth family has two older females, Victoria is considered the head of the family.

Victoria stood up following Evelyn as both of them walked out.

Today’s tournament was done but some of the girls were still outside along with Roman.

Ava, Reina, Joanna, Aurelia, Roman, and his opponent for tomorrow Reena was outside while tge rest of the girls had gone inside.

Reena was friendly, she doesn’t talk much and liked to listen to them smiling and laughing periodically but mostly quiet.

The girls were under the shade to protect themselves from the sun which was shining brightly in the sky, Reina was on the ground lying down, even though she was tired, there was no reason for her to be on the ground, she just wanted to.

"So you were injured in the battle?"

"Just a little, and it’s already been healed, also please stop asking me questions, I’m tired" Reina muttered as she closed her eyes.

The princess turned towards Roman and then Reena, "Reena, how are you feeling about tomorrow’s battle against Roman, think you’re going to win?"

Reena was surprised since she was looking downward when Aurelia glanced at her but she cleared her throat, "I don’t know" she mumbled as if talking to herself and quickly faced away.

Roman was a little surprised, when he first saw her, he thought she was a confident mage the way she carried herself, but when it comes to talking, she was too shy.

But Reena was beautiful, she had black hair and well defined features ok her face, also he was tall, taller than all the other girls and reaching Roman or maybe even slightly taller than him.

Aurelia smiled softly at Reena answer, "You don’t know, are you scared of Roman, is he scary?" Aurelia asked.

Roman gave a small chuckle. "Hey, I’m sitting right here," he mouthed.

Reena looked even more flustered. "N-no! I didn’t mean, I just..." she trailed off, her face turning slightly red as she avoided looking at him.

Ava giggled from the side. "She’s nervous already. Roman, don’t go easy on her tomorrow," she said with a grin.

"I think you’ll see a different side of Reena tomorrow at the match" Aurelia spoke.

"I’ve seen her fight, I don’t need you to tell me, I just hope I’m strong enough to put up a fight" Roman replied with a smile.

"I can tell you’re joking... but I’m not going to back down" Reena muttered still looking away.

Roman smiled when he heard her words. "That’s the spirit," he said, leaning back a little. "I like that confidence."

Reena glanced at him for a second, then quickly looked away again, pretending to fix her hair. "I’m not confident... just not afraid," she said softly.

"That’s basically the same thing," Aurelia spoke.

Reina raised her hand from where she was lying down. "Can everyone keep it down, I’m trying to sleep"

Joanna snorted. "You can’t sleep here, you just won your match, you need to celebrate"

"I’ll celebrate when I can move again," Reina said with her eyes closed.

Ava smiled. "You were amazing though. I didn’t think you’d win after that lightning hit, but then...bam! Snake!"

Reina cracked one eye open. "Don’t remind me. That thing nearly drained all my Mana, I think if I want to use it, I’ll use it alone"

Roman looked around at all of them, the warm sun shining in front of them, and for a moment everything felt calm.

"Tomorrow’s going to be fun," Aurelia said, grinning as she looked at Roman and Reena. "I can’t wait to see who wins."

Reena finally looked up, meeting Roman’s eyes for the first time. "I’ll try not to disappoint," she said quietly.

Roman smiled. "Same here"

Roman wasn’t particularly concerned with the match, he focus was still on Ava or Aurelia, which ever of them he would have to face first, but he was still taking it serious.

He still had training at night where he would try the gravity spell again, not that he was going to use it anytime soon but now that he had seen it could work, he was going to try and master it.
