SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 243: The Gaurds
Aren stared and looked at both guardians, their increase in power wasnโt just little, it was almost as if it doubled. ๐ป๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ธโฏ๐ท๐๐ฐ๐โฏ๐ญ.๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ
โTch, I guess I was dumb to assume they would put someone weak inside the gates to guard it.โ Aren thought.
If he kept fighting like this, he would break before he could even make it to where Athena was.
Psst psst
Before Aren could think of a plan, he heard a sound, and then picked up someone with his shadow sense, a young man was hidden behind one of the houses and calling to Aren.
Aren looked at the person, he was signaling to Aren to come.
โWho the hell is that?โ Aren thought. Sadly, he didnโt have the time to start questioning, the guards were about to attack again.
Very quickly, he used shadow domain, spreading it out instantly. The domain covered them, creating an opportunity to escape. He instantly rushed toward the dude and then deactivated the domain.
The man grabbed him and pulled him into an alley.
"Donโt waste time, follow me fast," Peter said, pulling Aren into the town.
Aren followed, he didnโt know where they were headed, but anywhere was better than near those guards.
After rushing for a few minutes, they finally got to a small house. Peter stopped there, he looked around before opening the door.
"Come in," he said and then walked in. Aren scanned the room with shadow sense, he couldnโt pick up anything dangerous, so he walked in.
The inside was pretty normal, a simple living room, a few chairs, and a center table. Two crystal lamps hung on the wall and illuminated the room.
"Have a seat," Peter said.
"Before I do that, why did you save me?" Aren asked.
Peter paused and turned around. "Because they were about to kill you, theyโll be searching for you as well, so you might have to hide for a bit," Peter said.
"That doesnโt answer the question. You are a Blade right? Why would you save me when I intruded into your home?" Aren asked.
"Just because Iโm a Blade doesnโt mean Iโll do everything that they do," Peter said. He sat down, placing his elbows on his thighs and covering his mouth with both hands.
"Iโm sure you are here because of the girl that got brought here, right?"
"You know her?" Aren asked eagerly.
"I saw her getting brought in, but Iโm too low to know what happened to her after that," Peter said.
"What do you know? Please, tell me," Aren asked.
"Calm down, rushing wonโt help you. By now the main house has been informed that an intruder is in, and guards will be sent out.
Those guards that you saw at the gate, the guards are similar to that. They arenโt human like you and I, they are something different, built to do that one job from birth," Peter said.
"I donโt understand," Aren said.
Peter pointed at the seat. Aren looked at it and then walked to the chair, he sat down and faced Peter, waiting for him to speak.
"This place isnโt some glorious town that holds a prestigious Royal Family, no, itโs a working machine, and in a machine, roles are different, and everyone must fulfill their roles.
These guards were kids once, but their talent fell short of the standard Blade threshold. They are taken away and start a special training, one filled with modifications and changes all around.
Painful changes, using soul energy, divine energy, mutations, and more. Forcing their bodies to reach heights that would have been impossible for them, but sacrificing their humanity for it.
Those guards are machines that have one rule in mind, loyalty to the Patriarch, the one person that they serve with all their heart and with all their being.
Once they start searching for you, theyโll not stop until they cut you down, no intruders are allowed to be alive, thatโs a law here, because no information about the town can leave the borders of the town," Peter explained.
"I see," Aren said, a bit shocked to hear how they created the guards. "Then why help me, doesnโt that make you their enemy instantly?" Aren asked.
"Sigh, it does, but thatโs if they know Iโm involved. I want to help you, but not throw away my life, so they canโt know that Iโm involved.
What you are planning to do is already stupid risky, but I understand what it means to lose someone dear to you to the system of the Blade family," Peter said, his gaze got heavy, he looked down in sadness.
"You lost someone?" Aren asked.
"Yes, someone dear to me, she was chosen by the main house and after that, I only see her from time to time, she no longer remembers me or what we were before.
Thatโs the type of thing that happens here, destinies split apart, heading in different directions," he explained calmly.
"Iโm sorry," Aren said.
"Donโt be, itโs just how it is. Some of us are fated for greatness, some are meant to stay put, like me," Peter explained.
"Youโve never left the town?" Aren asked.
"I canโt, I need to be cleared for that, and I am not, sadly. I wish to see what is beyond there, but I canโt," Peter said.
"Wait, then what about trials? Did you never leave for trials?" Aren asked.
"Nope, this town can stop someone from actually leaving for trials, thatโs something that the town can actually do, it has the right and power to stop someone from entering the trial," Peter explained.
"Thatโs crazy, I didnโt know that was possible," Aren replied.
"Yeah, itโs a well hidden secret, no one outside the families knows it, well you do now. If you manage to escape with your life, then youโd be one of the few that do," Peter said.
"There is a lot thatโs hidden from what it seems," Aren said. "Thank you for helping me, Iโm grateful. If I can, I want to know if there is any way I could reach the main house? I know you have done a lot, and itโs fine if you canโt," Aren said.
