Chapter 224: Where is she?

When Athena heard that, she froze. She looked at the woman with disbelief. "That’s not possible," she said. She knew Aren’s strength; there was no way that he would be captured. It wasn’t just possible.

"You doubt it?" the woman asked.

"Aren is too strong for you to handle," Athena said.

"Hmm, to have that much trust in someone. Well, regardless, we have captured him," she said and then waved her hand. A projection of Aren captured and chained down was shown. He was heavily beaten and bleeding.

"No, no, this is a trick," Athena said, backing away.

"Do you want to risk it?" the woman asked. "If you don’t come with me, I’ll order for him to be killed," she said. Her eyes held no hesitation; her voice was stern.

Athena was shaken up. A part of her screamed that this was a trick and that there was no way that Aren would be captured, but another part of her kept looking at the projection.

’What do I do? Aren could actually be hurt. I can’t lose him. I can’t allow them to harm him.’ Her mind reached a final resolution. She took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"I surrender," she said.

The lady let out a smile after that. She stepped forward and then pulled out something, a metallic collar. She wrapped it around Athena’s neck, and the moment it did, every one of Athena’s abilities was sealed.

"Good, that was quite easy, you gullible child," the woman said with a smile.

When Athena heard that, she knew that she had been tricked. Aren was safe. In anger, she tried to attack, but nothing happened. Her entire ability was now suppressed.

"Save your strength," the woman said and walked forward before throwing a punch right into the gut of Athena. She bent forward, coughing violently and collapsing to her knees.

The woman looked at her, her face twisting in disgust. "Tch, sending us out to chase after a little girl. What’s so special about you?" she said in anger and then sent a kick right into Athena’s stomach.

Athena coughed heavily, her entire body filled with pain. The woman bent over and grabbed her, throwing her onto her shoulder. From there, she leaped onto a roof, leaping from roof to roof.

She was headed to the place where Aren and the guard were fighting. She landed close there, and instantly Aren sensed her with his shadow sense. He saw Athena on her shoulder.

"Athena!" Aren called out. He ignored the guard he was fighting and rushed onto the roof. When he got up there, he saw the woman standing there and looking right at him with Athena on her shoulder.

The guard also leaped onto the roof. He saw the woman as well, and he frowned.

"I had it under control," he said.

"Sure you did, yet you are busy struggling against a new awakened. Either way, finish up here and head back. Enough chaos has been caused already," she said.

"Hand over Athena," Aren roared. He charged ahead in anger, but the guard rushed and intercepted him. Aren looked at the guard, his eyes glowing red. "Get the hell out of my way. " he roared while unleashing hundreds of shadow blades all at once.

The guard had to block the attack and so used his flames, creating a massive wave of fire that surged forward and destroyed every shadow blade.

When the flames died, the guard was breathing heavily because that move had drained him. The woman who held Athena had also vanished. Aren couldn’t find her inside his shadow sense at all.

"Now it’s back to you and me," the guard said. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Where is Athena?" Aren asked in a low growl.

"Forget about her, she is already gone. You should be worried about your—" Before he could finish his words, Aren was already in front of him, eyes glowing red like something from the pits of hell.

Aren threw a punch, one so fast it shattered the sound barrier and looked like it was distorting even space. The fist landed clean on the face of the guard.

BOOM

The man was blasted backward. He slammed into the roof, bounced off, and slammed into another roof. He skidded back for a few meters and almost fell off the roof of the second building.

He managed to stop himself and push himself up. His flames had entirely been put out, and his face was bleeding right now. He looked up, only to see Aren already reaching for him again.

"Stay back!" he roared and unleashed a massive wave of flames. Aren immediately stopped, leaping high into the air to avoid it. He looked down at the guard. Before attacking again, he activated the true form of his armor, granting him even more strength.

A tendril then shot from the roof, wrapped around Aren, and then pulled him down immediately, and he came down swinging.

The guard was forced to leap off the roof. The fist slammed into the roof and instantly, a massive chunk of the house was blasted into oblivion, with no regard for if there was someone inside.

The guard landed on the ground and immediately rushed out of the alley, wanting to have more space to take care of Aren. He looked at the roof where Aren was meant to be. The dust was still dropping. He kept scanning, waiting for the exact moment that Aren would come out, only for him to feel a sudden dread behind him.

He turned around and crossed his arms at the last moment before Aren’s fist connected to his crossed arms, cracking a few bones and throwing him back, right into a wall that shattered on impact.

"Where did you take her? Tell me now!" Aren roared. He walked towards the rubble.

People around were rushing away, leaving their houses, trying to escape as fast as possible. There was no one for them to call. After all, the guards were the ones that started the fight.
