Mike ran through the castle, trying to find Lia. After the war started, he couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Silva was locked out of the capital, and Mia was nowhere to be found.

He was certain that Quin would be able to manage himself, but the same could not be said for Mia—she was his twin, after all.

He looked around like a madman, trying to find her. The enemy had already taken the throne room and used it to set up the dome, but right now, that was not really his issue.

As he looked through the corridors, he heard an explosion of sorts. He immediately ran to check it, and luckily enough for him, it was Amber and Lia holding off a demonized.

Mike didn’t waste a second to think. He pulled out his sword and charged into battle. The demonized swung its claw to take off Amber’s head. Amber made a vine wall—the claw cut through it but was not able to reach them.

Mike ran, he leaped, and then stepped on the vine wall that had been cut in half. Using it as a step, he leaped higher with his sword in both hands. He swung down as fast as possible and with all the strength he could.

The demonized reacted and used its arm to block the slash. The blade cut into the arm but didn’t go too deep. The demonized used its other hand to slap Mike—the palm hit Mike’s head and sent him flying into the wall, breaking through it.

"Mike!" Lia yelled. She raised her hands, and several ice lances formed and shot at the demonized in rapid succession. Lia then looked at Amber.

"Save Mike," she said while keeping the demonized distracted. Amber nodded and used her vines to pick Mike up and bring him back to them. Then, she used her healing abilities to heal him.

Mike woke up and coughed a bit. He looked in the direction of the demonized—it was taking steps forward even though Lia was firing at it.

"We can’t win against this thing. It’s toying with us," Mike said.

"Then what do we do? I’m not sure your sister can hold up much longer," Amber responded.

"We have to run. And run like our lives depend on it—no looking back," Mike said.

"It’s not a plan, but that’s the only option," Amber said, and Lia nodded in agreement.

"Alright, on three. One, two, three, go."

As soon as Mike said "go," Amber and Lia started running. They ran a good distance before they noticed that Mike was not with them.

They stopped and looked back. Mike stood there with his sword out, ready to fight. He turned back and looked at them.

"Amber, keep running. Take my sister with you. I’ll buy you time," Mike said.

"Noooooo, Mike!" Lia started running back to meet him, but vines grabbed her and pulled her back.

"If you go, his sacrifice would be for nothing," Amber said and used her vines to forcefully pull Lia as she ran.

Tears poured from Lia’s eyes as she watched Mike run towards the demonized. As they took their next turn, Mike leaped into the air with a slash.

Mike hacked down, but the demonized blocked it easily and then punched him in the gut so hard that he coughed out blood.

"You wanted to be a hero? Well, fight like one," the demonized said and tossed Mike aside.

Mike landed face-first, his nose broken, his body bruised and cut.

He slowly got back up, and with his sword in hand, he was ready to die here while fighting.

"Wait, don’t touch him."

A voice suddenly stopped them.

Mike knew that voice. He knew that voice anywhere he went. It was Leah.

Leah walked up to the fight. She looked at the demonized and spoke, "You can leave now. I’ll be handling this one."

The demonized immediately obeyed and left, sneering at Mike before leaving.

Mike looked at Leah, his ears shaking, his entire body trembling.

"YOU FUCKING BITCH!" he yelled.

"Silva gave you everything. He saved you. He helped you find yourself, and this is how you pay him back?" Mike asked.

Her demeanor and expression were cold and evil. She knew what she was doing, and she was doing it to the best of her abilities.

"Well, now, I’ll have to end our talk here, Mike. After all, you are supposed to die," she said and pointed a finger at him.

She fired a massive bolt of lightning.

Mike leaped out of the way as fast as he could. The lightning ripped the floor open.

Mike ran toward her, trying to flank her, but the corridor only slowed his movement. She blasted him with a higher bolt of lightning, but he managed to block it with his sword, both hands on the hilt.

After blocking the attack, he used some sort of technique that made him move faster for an instant. He made it close to her, his sword going for her neck.
