Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Victories

Adonis’s first opponent entered the battle circle with a confident stride.

It was none other than Rai Calder, the commoner genius. He walked in domineeringly, a spear gripped firmly in his hand. A confident smile crossed his face as soon as his eyes landed on Adonis.

"I have really waited for this day, Adonis Kingsbane," he said, smirking.

Adonis held the Chaotic Harem Sword in an attack-ready posture. "Me too. But unfortunately, you’re going to lose today."

"So confident? Then why don’t we make a bet? Whoever wins has to obey the other party for one month. What do you say?"

Adonis accepted without ceremony. "Just what I wanted. Let’s find out who the true genius is."

"Begin!"

The moment the referee’s hand dropped, the anticipation in the arena reached a boiling point.

Rai Calder didn’t wait. He was a commoner who had clawed his way into the Nova Class through sheer aggression and talent. His spear, a silver-headed weapon named Gale-Breaker, whistled through the air as he lunged.

"Storm-Born Piercing!" Rai roared.

The tip of his spear blurred, multiplying into a dozen lethal points of light. This was his signature technique, a high-frequency thrust that used wind element to bypass physical armor.

To the audience, it looked like a wall of silver was collapsing onto Adonis.

Adonis didn’t flinch. His eyes, glowing with a predatory violet hue, tracked every micro-vibration of the spearhead.

He adjusted his grip on the Chaotic Harem Sword. The black-and-violet blade hummed, resonating with his Progenitor Dragon Physique.

"Relentless Thrust," Adonis muttered.

He didn’t aim for a dozen points; he aimed for the center. His sword moved with the weight of a falling star, a single, concentrated strike that met Rai’s spear-wall head-on.

CLANG!

the shockwave sent a ripple through the runic barrier, causing the nearest students to recoil.

Rai’s spear was deflected upward, his eyes widening as he felt the raw, overwhelming Strength behind Adonis’s casual strike.

"Did you see that?" a student in the stands yelled. "Rai’s Storm-Born is a Rank-D Art! How did Adonis parry it with a basic thrust?"

"Look at his posture!" another shouted. "He hasn’t even moved his feet!"

Up on the dais, Isabella gripped the stone railing. She could see the Ether swirling around Adonis, thick and suffocating. He wasn’t just fighting, he was dominating the space.

"Raaah..." Rai snarled, his pride stung.

He spun his spear, the wind mana around him intensifying into a localized cyclone.

"Gale-Soul Dance!"

He became a blur of motion, circling Adonis at high speeds. His Agility was impressive, his spear striking from blind spots, aiming for Adonis’s tendons and joints. It was a beautiful, lethal display of technical mastery.

Adonis stood in the eye of the storm. He closed his eyes for a heartbeat, letting his draconic sense the flow of the mana around him.

"Sneaky, but still too slow," Adonis whispered.

"Whoosh." Suddenly, Adonis disappeared.

He didn’t just move, he vanished into the shadows of Rai’s own Gale.

"Backdoor Severance Style: Phantom Clip!"

Adonis reappeared behind Rai, his sword sweeping in a low, vicious arc.

"Slash!" "Slash!"

The effect was instantaneous. the blade left a trail of dark, chaotic energy that seemed to "clip" the very momentum out of Rai’s legs.

"Damn!"

Rai stumbled, his cyclone dissipating as he barely managed to plant his spear to stay upright.

The crowd erupted. "Fuck! He’s behind him! How did he get behind him?"

"That sword... it’s like it’s eating the light!"

Mariana watched with a proud, subtle smile, her heart racing.

Valentina, however, kept her arms crossed, her eyes fixed on Adonis’s sword. She knew the Chaotic Harem Sword was hungry for more than just a win. It was feeding on the chaotic despair of its opponent.

Rai, now desperate, channeled every drop of his remaining mana into his spear. The weapon glowed with a blinding white light.

"I won’t lose to a royal bastard! Heaven-Piercing Gale!" he roared.

He launched himself like a human railgun, his spear aimed directly at Adonis’s heart. It was a move designed to kill, a final, all-or-nothing gambit.

Adonis planted his feet, his Chaotic Harem Body pulsing with dark violet veins. He raised his sword above his head, the atmosphere around him growing heavy and cold.

"Chaos Ultimatia."

As Rai’s spear reached him, Adonis didn’t dodge. He swung his sword downward in a vertical cleave.

Buzzz!

The chaos energy erupted, forming a miniature vacuum that sucked the

"Gale" right off of Rai’s spear.

The white light was swallowed by the violet void of the blade.

The two weapons collided.

K-BOOM!

The explosion of mana sent a cloud of dust into the air. When it cleared, the arena was silent.

Rai Calder was on his knees, his spear barely holding together.

Adonis stood over him, the tip of the Chaotic Harem Sword resting gently against Rai’s throat. He wasn’t even breathing hard. His Boundless Stamina made the high-level exertion look like a morning stroll.

"You lost, Rai," Adonis said, his voice cold and clear. "And you know the price."

Rai looked up, his face pale, his bravado shattered. He looked at the stands, seeing the shocked faces of his fellow commoners, and then at the judges’ dais, where Isabella stared down in stunned silence.

"I— I yield," Rai whispered, his head bowing in defeat.

The referee raised his hand. "Winner: Adonis Kingsbane!"

The roar from the crowd was deafening.

"Adonis! Adonis! Adonis!"

Rank 10 spot was no longer a question.

Adonis looked up at the dais, meeting Isabella’s eyes for a fleeting second.

He flashed a victorious smile, making her blush all the way behind her ears.

Adonis faced several more opponents after that. He fought every noble genius from the Nova Class and won against all of them, including Prince Malvis, who was nothing more than a helpless chicken in his hands.

Prince Malvis was Mariana’s royal brother, born to a different concubine.

Since Mariana was the First Princess and the daughter of the Queen herself, they shared little connection.

Consequently, Adonis didn’t care to show any mercy.

The noble faction seethed quietly in their humiliation, while the commoner faction cheered. Having learned what had transpired between Adonis and the Kingsbane family, they now viewed him as one of their own. Thus, his victory felt like theirs as well.

His half-siblings, Logan and Lexi, were fuming with rage as they watched Adonis outshine everyone in the competition, making them look like a mere speck of dust.

And now, it was time for the finale.

The deciding match for Rank 1 among first year.
