SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 234: The second wave
Chapter 234: The second wave
"Here we go. It’s starting now." Damon grinned, his crimson eyes gleaming with anticipation. Until now, they’d only been swatting at small fries, overconfident stragglers, clueless guildies, and cannon fodder. But that was over. The real game was beginning.
The second wave had arrived.
And this... this was just the opening act.
The newly arrived backup mainly consisted of knights and priests who immediately jumped into action. The knights took the front lines, their shields glowing with layered enchantments that shimmered with every strike they absorbed.
Meanwhile, the high priests and battle clerics positioned themselves at the rear, conjuring waves of holy restoration that stitched even near-death NPCs back together in moments.
Damon narrowed his eyes, watching the battlefield with focus. The first wave had been messy but predictable. This was different. These were trained tacticians with synchronized formations and enhanced synergy. They had both combat experience and large scale battle experience.
The momentum they had finally stalled.
But Damon didn’t panic. His grin only widened. If it was these few who were problematic, then all he needed to do was target these few troublesome additions. His figure blurred as he appeared next to one of the clerics.
Unlike the healer class players who typically screamed at his sudden appearance, the battle hardened cleric only looked slightly startled.
With a loud snort, he twisted his staff mid-chant and unleashed a radiant shield with a burst of holy light. The protective barrier crackled into existence, followed instantly by a retaliatory holy blast aimed squarely at Damon’s chest. Some of the other knights and paladins rushing to his aide at the same time.
But Damon had his own share of battle experience and this much was not enough to make him even blink. It was finally time to test his new shiny core that was surging with energy. With a deep focus, despite the chaos all around him, he calmly revved up his mana core and the next instant a flaming bright crimson lance appeared around him.
Damon had only barely tapped his mana core but the lance conjured was more powerful than anything he had created before. The holy blast collided with the lance mid-formation and then disappeared like it did not even exist. The priest’s face finally changed. He stared at the lance with wide-eyes unable to fathom its power, erecting many more barriers.
Damon only grinned. He simply thrust the lance forward without hesitation. It was a simple and straightforward attack but simplicity, when backed by overwhelming power, required nothing more.
The crimson lance tore through the cleric’s newly erected barriers as if they were made of wet parchment. Each shield shattered with a crack like thunder, unable to even slow the onslaught. The priest barely had time to scream before the lance pierced through his torso, lifting him off the ground and pinning him to a distant wall with a wet, echoing crunch.
The explosion came a heartbeat later.
A blast of blood-tinged fire erupted outward from the lance’s impact point, consuming nearby knights and priests alike. Shields cracked, robes ignited, and formation lines buckled under the pressure of raw destructive force. The ground itself glowed molten red where the blast had scorched it.
Damon dashed forward and sucked in all the blood essence that he could.
[Ding! Blood Extraction Successful]
[Ding! You have acquired the skill: Sacred Renewal]
[Ding! You have acquired the skill: Holy Fire]
[Ding! You have gained +2 Vitality]
[Ding! You have gained +1 Divine Affinity]
Sacred Renewal would normally only be accessible to high-ranking holy class users. It was a regeneration-type spell that could instantly restore health over time and cure debuffs. It was a good addition to his arsenal. Holy Fire was also a decent skill. Though it was useless in the current situation, he could think of many ways it could be useful in other times.
Damon landed lightly on his feet, his crimson eyes already scanning for the next threat.
A knight barreled toward him, sword glowing with consecrated fire. Damon sidestepped with ease, grabbed the knight by the throat, and whispered, "Boom."
[Flame Explosion] activated.
The knight didn’t even have time to process the detonation. The chain reaction triggered several other burn-afflicted targets nearby, igniting the battlefield in a ripple of fiery shockwaves. Explosions popped off like firecrackers in a festival of death.
The battlefield, which had started to recover under the coordination of the second wave, was now teetering on the brink again. The vampire NPCs and players, newly emboldened, surged forward with reinvigorated fury.
Damon stood at the heart of it all, cloak whipping behind him, his aura a living storm of blood and fire.
"Next," he said calmly, and vanished into the chaos once more, arriving behind another elite paladin at the front lines who was particularly powerful. The man was single-handedly pushing back two buffed vampire NPCs.
Damon summoned shadow daggers this time and quietly struck the paladin from behind just as he arrived at the spot. The paladin roared and swung instinctively, but Damon had already moved.
Shadowstep. A blur of motion. A second later, the paladin’s sword arm was lying on the ground, severed cleanly at the elbow. Damon reappeared in front of him with the flaming crimson lance once again in his hand. Without giving the paladin any time to react, he shoved the lance directly into his chest, resulting in a brilliant explosion.
Boom! Blood and fire roared as if they were alive. Even though the paladin was several levels higher than him, Damon’s body had already undergone ridiculous transformation not once but twice. His stats were almost twice the elite paladin’s stats and the man had no chance right from the beginning.
The detonation sent waves of molten red light rippling through the ground, and the air shimmered with residual mana backlash. The paladin didn’t even get a death scream, just a shocked exhale before being consumed, armor and all, by the inferno.
Charred fragments of divine steel clattered across the scorched stone. Damon stood in the center, unfazed, crimson eyes reflecting the fire like twin suns of destruction.
