SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 153: In or out?
Chapter 153: In or out?
The man’s tear-streaked face lit up. "Hero! Please, would you come to the village square and accept the blessings of the people? They must see the one who brought this terror to its end!"
"Sure," Damon said. He was not one for public praises and accolades but who was he to deny the wishes of an old pitiful man. Besides, he mused, this could be a good opportunity to soak up some rep points, maybe even squeeze out a unique quest or two from these grateful townsfolk.
With that, he followed the man towards the village square. On the way, many of the city folk greeted the old man and asked why he was suddenly so excited. He too promptly sang praises of Blood God and he had taken down the world boss.
Damon followed along, calmly looking around as if he was above all of this attention. This only led the cityfolk to praise him more. Soon the old man began spreading the news with increasing enthusiasm.
The frozen throne guild members followed along as well and their faces shrunk constantly being forced to hear all the amazing feats of the awesome Blood God.
Mendoza gnashed his teeth in frustration. "Sylvara, you were giggling earlier like a foolish bimbo? What happened to his common sense now? Huh? Where did it go? Why did he have to go and engage a world boss in this territory announcing everyone that he is here? Don’t you know what this means? Everyone will figure out what we are upto!"
Nevin stepped closer to Sylvara threateningly. However, this time it was useless. Even a couple of other elders told Sylvara the same thing.
"Tighten the leash on your dog, Sylvara." Robert added as he walked away from all the madness. He seemingly had no interest in whatever Blood God was upto but his loyal underlings were still in the vicinity.
Sylvara, her silver hair catching the afternoon light, let out a soft sigh. "That man..." she muttered, a flicker of amusement in her eyes.
"If you really think I can control him, you’re all more foolish than I thought. He probably knew that killing the world boss would bring attention, he just didn’t care about it. How about we do our jobs and take care of anyone who dares to come this way?"
She tilted her head, eyes narrowing slightly as she regarded Mendoza. "And you, Mendoza," she added, her voice icy calm. "It was your young master who charged into that water without checking it first. Don’t blame Damon for your own stupidity. The man is a monster on the battlefield, not your babysitter."
Mendoza flushed a deep red, his mouth opening and closing like a fish gasping for air. Before he could fire back, Sylvara had already turned her back on him, her gaze following Damon’s broad shoulders as he walked confidently toward the square.
"Fucking brainless bitch. Did he fuck the brains out of your head?" he muttered loudly for everyone to hear as he walked to the back.
His words earned a few looks from the elders as having any sort of relationship outside their family was strictly forbidden, even earning an instant ban from the family. If one of them ever formed a bond outside of their predetermined alliances, it was seen as a betrayal of the family’s core mission.
That too, it wouldn’t be a normal ban. It would be cruel. Their memory would be wiped out and they would become half brain dead.
Sylvara never understood the reason for this brutality until the recent changes. It turned out that from the very beginning their ancestors were preparing for this world ending event. But how could they possibly know the future and predict something utterly crazy like this?
Sylvara did not know. She had tried asking her grandfather this question many times but the man always simply smiled. She knew not to press him any further for answers.
Putting away the many thoughts in her mind and ignoring the vulgar words of Mendoza, she continued to pay attention to the man in the spotlight, currently grabbing all the attention.
In just a few minutes somehow the whole thing had evolved into a huge feast for the entire city, becoming some sort of a celebration city wide.
Vendors rolled out carts stacked with roasted meats and steaming breads, sweet wine and fruit from nearby orchards, their laughter and songs echoing in the frosty air. Children darted around with flowers and ribbons, their voices bright with cheer.
It was as if the world boss defeat had lifted a terrible weight from the city’s shoulders, a relief that everyone wanted to celebrate.
Banners hastily stitched with Damon’s name or at least some approximation of it fluttered over doorways. "Blood God the Savior!" one read. Another: "Hero of Trendelan!"
Even the local noblemen had arrived to show respects to the great hero who managed to slay the terror of the north.
Sylvara’s eyes narrowed as she watched the two daughters of the Earl throw themselves at Damon, flashing their assets.
Both were clad in fine velvet cloaks and tight-fitting dresses that did little to hide their ambitions. One had hair the color of honeyed gold, while the other sported a cascade of deep auburn locks that framed her flushed cheeks. Their smiles were sugary sweet. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Blood God, you must be exhausted after your heroics," the blonde cooed, pressing a little too close. "Would you like some company? We can show you the hospitality that only Trendelan’s noble daughters can provide."
Her sister added, her voice dripping honey, "Please, let us repay you for your bravery. Our estate is not far, and we have the finest wines and warmest hearths. Surely you deserve a hero’s welcome after slaying such a beast."
Damon couldn’t help the dry chuckle that escaped him. "Thank you ladies. I wish to attend the feast a bit longer before accompanying you both back to wherever you want me to come."
Nearby, a few of the local villagers were already raising mugs of frothy ale and singing a raucous tune in his honor. One of them, a broad-shouldered butcher with a face like a half-frozen potato, waved him over.
"Blood God!" he bellowed, voice slurred by drink. "Tell us how you killed that monster! We want the whole bloody story!"
Damon’s grin widened. "So I just went out for a stroll..." he began...
Time ticked by and the feast ended up going on for a good while.
Damon threw in the polar bear steaks for everyone to enjoy which further kicked things up a notch. In the end, the whole thing continued all the way to server shut down and he still did not manage to get any clue about any quest.
However, there was now another thing Damon was curious about. The system wide lock out. This was the first lock out, he was paying full attention to.
The last time around he was in the middle of the body tempering ritual and he couldn’t determine whether his presence in the game was because of the tattoo or the unique circumstance of the body tempering ritual.
However, this time it was different. There was no reason he shouldn’t be kicked out of the game right now.
The question was with the tattoo in his hand was he still going to get kicked out or not?
