Spirit Soul-Chapter 7 Overflowing
Kyle's plan had been simple, but the final result exceeded his expectations manifold.
As such, he could only stare at the anthill that was about to collapse as multiple explosions occurred on the inside.
He wasn't sure if a queen had been inside the anthill, but what Kyle knew for sure was the fact that several hundred incomplete souls were ascending through the crumbling hill.
This was a result of the souls originating from incomplete ant eggs as the explosions loosened the walls made of soil.
After dying in a fire, the souls were forcefully detached from their physical bodies and Kyle's smile widened in joy as his plan had worked.
'Ant eggs, as expected!' He exclaimed in his head before his attention diverted to the Fiery Purantha that roared out in pain.
This was unexpected, and Kyle began to wonder if its body was not resistant to its own flames. Only a moment later, the hill collapsed right on the Fiery Purantha's head that was still inside the crumbling hill.
The majority of its body got buried under the weight of the collapsing hill and it was unable to free itself.
That was when the opportunity he had been eagerly waiting for appeared in front of Kyle!
He rushed ahead, trying to ignore the fear that spread through his entire body as he heard more explosions occurring inside the hill.
Overcoming his hesitation, Kyle appeared behind the Fiery Purantha as he pierced the small boar tusk dagger into its severe injury, shoving it as deep as possible.
His strength was no match to the Fiery Purantha's defense, but it was enough to worsen the rotten injury's condition further.
The Fiery Purantha was already weak and exhausted, but it noticed Kyle's presence.
However, it was unable to launch a counterattack given the fact that it was stuck. The Fiery Purantha struggled to move its hind legs in a desperate attempt to push Kyle away.
Not even half a minute passed in which Kyle had pierced and pulled out the dagger only to drive it inside its body in quick successions.
He could only see red in front of him, and his entire left hand was smeared with the Purantha's blood as its body stiffened for a second.
A soul larger than that of the sand wolf's soul detached from the Fiery Purantha's stiff body before it went limp.
In the end, it had been the most important to kill the Fiery Purantha first because Kyle was unsure whether it would stay buried below the anthill until it suffocated or if it would have somehow escaped and killed him!
Now that the biggest threat was eliminated, Kyle took a breath of relief before he stored both of his weapons in the small backpack.
Only then did he reach the soul that was gradually ascending in the air and closed his fingers around it.
Kyle didn't hesitate to push the soul straight into the center of his chest where the Egg of the beginning was about to be constructed.
After the soul was devoured by him, Kyle looked around, only to notice that a few souls had already begun to ascend further into the air!
The perfect timing had already elapsed and if he wasted any more time, they would continue to ascend into the air, well beyond his reach.
Thus, he could give his best, which was to collect and devour as many souls as possible.
They might have already started to ascend, but he would be able to get his hands on many souls if he were to hurry and use his utmost efforts!
In the end, it was not a difficult task to lead the souls of the deceased to the center of his chest!
Nevertheless, he couldn't afford to play around anymore.
It was important to finish the construction of the Egg of the beginning as soon as possible!
Considering that he had the poorest possible talent for his Spirit Soul, its grade and potential would be lowest too!
But, that didn't dampen his excitement because the quality and number of souls that were required to construct the Egg of the beginning was the lowest possible too!
Yet, he couldn't allow himself to miss a single one because he was unsure of the exact number of required souls!
While running around and hastily grabbing the souls that were about to ascend, Kyle felt only a slight tinge of guilt and disgust about himself.
What he had done might seem cruel but every living being was fighting for its survival and amassing resources while trying to break through its boundaries.
Killing a being was an ordinary act in the era of cultivation!
Yet, Kyle had once heard of legends speaking about an era that could be described to be the most peaceful.
This so-called era was before the first planets had mutated, awakening their core that had begun to naturally generate energy. 𝙛r𝚎𝐞𝑤𝚎𝗯𝗻𝗼𝐯e𝚕.𝒄𝐨𝓂
Kyle had never witnessed the Era of peace. He had yet to see for himself a place where all living beings existed harmoniously without killing each other for personal gains.
The legends about this era sounded hilarious to most intelligent races and going back to the old times was considered to be impossible.
At least, not as long as living beings were able to overwhelm others solely by cultivating along with the accumulation of energy which required resources!
There might be races that had established federations, governments, and a polity following the path of democracy, but those races were rare.
In most cases, there would be a monarchy or dictatorship, and everyone had to follow the strongest individual!
The Yadras race was one of those races that were reigned by strong cultivators. They protected the commoners that were unable to cultivate.
However, the cultivators had framed a particular policy similar to a dictatorship that the Yadras had to abide by in exchange for receiving security!
It was nothing special, and didn't help Kyle right now either!
As such, he tried to focus on his current task instead of acting as if he missed the old times because that was definitely not the case!
While frantically running around the anthill that had created a loud commotion as it collapsed, Kyle devoured more than 100 complete and incomplete souls.
After that, he sensed that his time was slowly running out.
Noises could be heard from every direction, and instead of staying near the collapsed ant hill, Kyle turned around the moment he noticed that the center of his chest was overflowing with disintegrated souls.
This was a state Kyle was unfamiliar with.
Fortunately, except for a faint itch that he felt every time a soul dispersed within him, there was no other thing that could make him worry.
The itching intensified with the number of souls he devoured. However, when Kyle tried to sense how far the Egg of the beginning had been constructed, he couldn't help but smile.
'Soon!!'
It had been less than three days since he reincarnated and it looked like the Egg of the beginning would be completed in no time!
With the sheer quantity of souls he had devoured, his Spirit Soul with the poorest talent was going to awaken!
After that, he could start cultivating while accelerating the nurturing process of his Spirit Soul.
As excitement coursed through his veins, Kyle rushed through the bushes.
In order to defend himself, he had only taken out the small boar tusk dagger by reaching over his back.
There were still other beasts in his way, but they were too stunned to attack the bipedal being with zero cultivation rush past them.
Thus, they avoided Kyle instinctively.
He could have been a rare beast whose strength was concealed, which was also the reason why every beast tried to avoid him at the first glance!
Only after seeing Kyle's speed did they realize that it was unnecessary as he was even slower than most Spiral low-Fortification stage beasts, who nurtured nothing but their mind!
Nevertheless, Kyle couldn't help but be hopeful of his bright future.
It was great that he was able to leave the area around the anthill without being forced to fight against any beast!
The chances of him getting killed or ambushed had been high after all!
When he noticed this, Kyle was able to pay more attention to the Egg of the beginning and the overflowing disintegrated souls.
His body could barely contain them as they were slowly utilized, creating a flawless Egg of the beginning.
'Three days?' Kyle estimated as a radiant smile appeared on his face.
'In just three days, I will finally become a true cultivator!!'
