Special Forces Medic-Chapter 873 - 846: You Will Regret This
When he looked toward that place again, there was no one there. Hesitating slightly with his hand on the steering wheel, Xiao Lin got out of the car.
He wouldn’t doubt his own eyes; right where he had just dashed out were two footprints that didn’t belong to him. Without hesitation, Xiao Lin jumped down again.
The meeting didn’t bring joy; the aura emanating from Xiao Lin made Xia Xue unable to approach him. Her extended hand withdrew just before reaching him. She didn’t know what had happened — a pleasant shopping trip interrupted by Zimu and his brother, and her attempt to find some inspiration thwarted. Returning to the farm, she saw the person she missed, only to be met with indifference, a grievance that suddenly surged to her forehead. Biting her lips, Xia Xue quietly exited the room.
Xiao Lin wasn’t unaware of Xia Xue’s approach, but he felt he needed to sort himself out rather than seek comfort.
"I’m sorry!" Xiao Lin’s quiet apology as Xia Xue opened the door made her break into uncontrollable sobs.
"Tell me, what on earth is happening?" Embraced from behind, Xia Xue relaxed and leaned into Xiao Lin’s embrace, sensing he seemed to have made a significant decision just now, one that was absolutely related to her.
"If I could, I’d want to keep you in my pocket and carry you with me, so I wouldn’t fear for you being in danger." These words were sincere, and Xiao Lin tightened his arms. "Xiaoxue, I’m sorry!"
"Why are you apologizing to me?" A sense of foreboding rose in Xia Xue’s heart. She wanted to turn around in alarm but found she couldn’t break free from his embrace.
"I... I can’t be with you!" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Xia Xue stopped struggling; she felt as if she had been waiting for those words all along, yet never thought he’d actually say them. "Why?"
At that moment, the door was pushed open from outside, and Sister Lian appeared before them, uneasily looking at Xiao Lin for clarification on the current situation.
"Because of her!" Xiao Lin looked at the entering Sister Lian and uttered three words lightly.
Xia Xue, with tear-blurred eyes, quietly gazed at Sister Lian, her slightly parted lips unable to produce a sound. "I’m terribly sorry, I just realized my feelings for Sister Lian; not long ago, I had an encounter with her that I can’t seem to forget. In fact, our relationship predates my meeting you..."
"Xiao Lin!" Sister Lian glared with her beautiful eyes, unable to believe those words were spoken by Xiao Lin.
"I’m sorry, I still can’t be with you, so..."
"Sister Lian?!" Xia Xue stiffened as she slipped out of Xiao Lin’s arms. Tears gathered in her eyes slowly rolled down as she heard the name spoken by Xiao Lin. If it was Sister Lian, she seemed to truly lack any competitive edge.
"I’ll become a stranger!"
Sister Lian wanted to say something but closed her mouth seeing Xiao Lin’s gaze. Watching the resigned expression on Xia Xue’s face caused a sudden pang in her heart. "Xiaoxue, I..."
"Leave me some dignity, please!" Taking a deep breath, Xia Xue tried to squeeze out a smile for Sister Lian, intending to convey that she didn’t blame her. Between two women, balance is always elusive.
"I’ll have Zimu take you back."
"No need." Xia Xue passed by Sister Lian, her trembling shoulders transmitting the sensation to nearby people. Involuntarily twitching, she moved toward Xia Xue to pursue her.
"Don’t go!" Xiao Lin pulled Sister Lian back.
Pop! It was the first time Sister Lian struck him; saying nothing carries more impact than asking questions. Xiao Lin endured her anger, recognizing that causing her such distress was his fault, and he had no defense.
"Give me a reason!"
"Wait a minute!" Xiao Lin dashed out of the room. When he reached downstairs, Xia Xue had already driven away. "Follow her, don’t let her do anything rash."
Consort Ling glanced at Xiao Lin, said nothing, and left.
"Consort Ling! I entrust her to you, it’s what I owe you, Xiao Lin." Consort Ling nodded, needing no explanation; Xiao Lin had his own way of handling things. He had no qualification to comment, but felt compelled to say one thing right now.
"You made a mistake this time! You will regret it!" Xiao Lin watched Consort Ling’s departing figure, even a sigh seemed a luxury, as he turned and descended into the basement, leaping onto the ring to join in the bout between Zimu brothers.
Sister Lian continued to stand at the side; even Consort Ling could discern the situation, hoping Xia Xue could think things through after calming down. Once again, Xiao Lin hurled Zilin onto the ring, shouting for him to stand up. Acting like a rogue, Zilin refused to rise no matter what, looking woefully at his crazed boss, sure that forcing himself might soon land him a hospital trip in an ambulance.
"Boss!" Zimu still had some fighting ability, unwilling to, like Zilin, stupidly engage the boss in a hard clash. It seemed evident he was venting, only a fool would confront him directly. Zilin’s pathetic state was the result of his foolishness, and couldn’t be pinned on anyone.
"Real brothers won’t speak!" An internal howl echoed within Zimu; the utterance left no room for clever tricks, Zilin lying on the side slyly grinned at Zimu.
"I’m not your opponent!" Zimu’s low voice was knowingly ignored by Xiao Lin, who delivered a left hook, knocking Zimu to the ground.
"Fight back!" Xiao Lin shouted at Zimu, who shook his head, refusing, absolutely refusing.
"Let me replace him." Sister Lian glanced at the person beside her; when did Miao Shaoqing appear here? His presence was so silent, it startled Sister Lian slightly; he seemed to have progressed to another stage after such a long absence.
Xiao Lin looked into Miao Shaoqing’s eyes, exuding the shine of discovering prey, he discarded Zimu whom he had lifted and locked on to Shaoqing.
"He’s in a terrible mood, be careful." Sister Lian advised Miao Shaoqing next to her; at this moment, no one could persuade Xiao Lin, lest he unleashed the pent-up energy within. Everyone would feel miserable if it weren’t dispelled, hoping the stalwart Miao Shaoqing could withstand it wholly.
"Mm!" Taciturn Miao Shaoqing jumped into the ring, engaging in an entanglement with Xiao Lin in the next moment. The unwavering confrontation left Sister Lian at the edge unable to suppress excitement.
"Sister Lian, what’s wrong with our boss?"
"He had a breakup."
"Ah!" Zilin comprehended, nodding at Zimu; all men must endure such a phase. "You mean Big Sis and the boss broke up?" Contemplating it, Zimu remarked, "Wrong, wasn’t he urging us this afternoon to bring Big Sis back? How did he change his mind so abruptly?"
"He doesn’t want to discuss it, no one can elicit an explanation. Just wait, once he calms down, everything will be fine." Watching Xiao Lin in such a state, Sister Lian felt heartache.
