Special Forces Medic-Chapter 793 - 760: The Person You’re Looking For Isn’t Here
The 'Phoenix Tail' entertainment club has ushered in another ray of hope after a prolonged slump. Today's atmosphere is exceptionally alluring and lively. Standing at the entrance, Manager An's eyes sparkled, as if each face inside was a handful of red banknotes waving at her. Her smile was wider than usual; after several months of downturn, today would surely turn things around. Who wouldn't be grinning at such good news?
The ladies today were particularly enchanting. Perhaps it was due to the current trends or their moods, the otherwise haphazard makeup artists demonstrated their skills today, transforming plain faces into beautiful angels.
Gazing at the dazzling interior, Manager An couldn't help but feel dazed and a bit downhearted. Back in the day when she started, there wasn't so much freedom; they were chosen, whereas now, the girls did the choosing.
The elevator behind her chimed, pulling her back from reminiscing. She turned around with a smile. "Welcome... oh, it's you again?" Upon seeing Xu Ming, An's face immediately fell, and her joyful mood plummeted.
"Manager An, there's no need to make that face every time you see me!" Xu Ming shrugged innocently. Today, he wasn't in uniform; his casual attire didn't cause any inconvenience here. He glanced inside. "Business seems good today!" Every visit before had been quite empty; crowded times like these were rare.
"Since you see it, don't come ruin my business. There are so many entertainment clubs on Red Street; there's no need to constantly give me trouble!" An pulled Xu Ming aside. Arguing at the entrance might scare away customers, and some girls had already started leaving for other venues in recent days. Without customers, the girls can't earn anything, leading An to struggle to keep them.
"I don't wish to frequent places like this either! If you cooperate, we wouldn't have to come by." Xu Ming showed a helpless expression.
An looked at the two people behind him. She recognized one of them, but the other young man seemed unfamiliar. "Director Xu, what brings you here this time?"
"Oh, is Ye Zi here? We have business with her!" Xu Ming didn't beat around the bush, but directly stated his intent. "If she's here, bring her over. You know the scene would be awkward if we went in to fetch her. If you bring her out, we'll take her and leave, not affecting your business."
"This..." Hearing they were here for Ye Zi, An immediately showed a troubled expression.
"What? Don't want to cooperate this time?" Xu Ming spoke to An with a threatening tone.
"No, no, it's just that she isn't here today. How am I supposed to give her to you?" An hastily smiled, placing a hand on Xu Ming's arm. "Director Xu, you came at a bad time; Ye Zi works here part-time, not here every day. If you want to find her, calling in advance would avoid a wasted trip."
"Not here?" Xu Ming chuckled twice. "Manager An, are you joking with me? How can it be so coincidental that she's always not here when I come? You're forcing me to go in and find her?"
"Oh dear, Director Xu, those words really hurt my feelings. I'm genuinely trying to do you a favor, yet according to you, I've become the villain." An feigned a hurt expression that fell upon their eyes. A good actor is always dramatic, every frown and smile is subtly nuanced.
Men tend to soften at the sight of a tearful woman, as women are perceived as weaker. Even when knowing it's an act, it's hard to stay firm in front of tears. Xu Ming is a good person, a good man, so when the attractive An half lowered her eyes, letting out a sniffle, he couldn't help but soften, his previously stern tone softened.
"Manager An!" Xiao Lin approached from behind, placing his hand on Xu Ming's shoulder, the latter looking at him cluelessly. Xiao Lin stepped forward, for men, facing such women is normal, men understand each other, after all.
"You are..." Manager An stopped her tears; her nose slightly reddened from crying, which truly looked pitiful.
"I know Ye Zi is inside; if we weren't confident, we wouldn't be here requesting your cooperation. If you don't cooperate, we'll have to forcefully take her, leading to greater losses for you, something Manager An can surely calculate."
"You..." The young man in front seemed like a tough character; Xu Ming could be swayed with feminine wiles, but this person appeared unaffected by either soft or hard approaches. "Ye Zi isn't here, if you forcibly go in to seize someone, there's nothing I can do about it."
"Ha ha!" Hearing this, Xiao Lin laughed instead of getting angry. "Since Manager An won't cooperate, then we won't be courteous. If we disturb some distinguished person, you'll have to handle the aftermath."
"Hey!" An quickened her pace, blocking Xiao Lin.
"What does this mean? Want to obstruct official duties?"
"Director Xu, do all your subordinates act so rashly and without considering the consequences?" An ignored Xiao Lin and turned towards Xu Ming, clearly regarding Xiao Lin as a mere subordinate officer, knowing convincing the superior would naturally solve the problem.
"Manager An, you are currently obstructing official duties. I'm giving you face; you bring her out, and we'll leave immediately. If you don't cooperate, we'll have to forcibly enter, which you can't stop." Xu Ming chuckled, standing behind Xiao Lin. "My subordinates take their duties seriously; I might give you some face, but they might not be as reasonable, so you'd better be sensible."
"Fine, I'll go in and see if she's here, can you wait a moment?"
"Manager An, stalling won't work on us; you're the madam here, would you not know which girls are in today?" Xiao Lin spared no opportunity for buffering, directly dismantling An's ruse, leaving her embarrassed and stuck.
"What's with you, little officer!" To Xu Ming, An was courteous, but she had no good face for a mere officer. "You should make sense of the situation; this isn't a place everyone can enter. If you feel my words are unreasonable, bring a search warrant."
"Alright! Get a search warrant from the headquarters. If we encounter Hua's office, ask him to issue a shutdown order as well; looks like the 'Phoenix Tail' entertainment club might not operate any longer, may as well check when the license expires."
"Yes!" The officer stifled a laugh, swiftly agreed and departed just as quickly. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommended votes or monthly tickets; your support is my greatest motivation.)
