Special Forces Medic-Chapter 717 - 684: Once Started, There’s No Turning Back
Although the North District Police Station has already blatantly displayed significant issues, without locating Director Zhao, there is no way to file a case for those small-time operatives for another day. This is according to Xu Ming, who believes that in the corruption case, there is no direct evidence to prove that these junior police officers are involved. Zhang Qiang, the only witness, is already dead, and moving in now might cause friction. To prevent opportunists from taking advantage, Xu Ming thinks monitoring should be implemented, as capturing one person could lead to capturing many. He is not in a hurry to deal with these small-time operatives.
Hua Qingyi looked at Xiao Lin with eyes of approval regarding Xu Ming's handling method, as if to say his judgment was correct!
"From Officer Xu's years of experience in handling district affairs, where should we begin with this case?" Hua Qingyi listened to Xu Ming's general description and understanding of the whole case, and he asked a pivotal question.
"In my personal understanding, everyone involved in this case knows that it is actually the same case, but each point where it occurred has its own link. The people managing this case are acting independently, so now what's lacking is connecting them together." Xu Ming squatted to the side, leaning against a corner without taking a seat.
"Now we've categorized the important suspects into three tiers. The first tier involves high officials; they are deduced as suspects but there's no substantial evidence, so they cannot be central to the entire case. Second, there's the lower-end figures like Director Zhao, the innkeeper, and assassins. These people are at the bottom of the case; even if captured, it would only reveal the process of committing the crime. Some, like Zhang Qiang, may not have even met the big boss and could be killed before they speak out. Third are the deceased. The ones who might have provided information are all dead, and the contradictions are largely pointing to two people we suspect, Han Fei and Yan Juanjuan. As for Yao Zheng staying out of it, with my years of case-handling experience, it feels suspicious. Often in a complicated case, if all the evidence points to a single person, there are two possibilities: they are truly guilty, or someone is framing them. So personally, I think some of the evidence we have might be fabricated."
The few people present couldn't help but give approving glances to the seemingly honest middle-aged policeman, Xu Ming, for his clear line of thought, especially Wu Shuang, who watched Xu Ming as if discovering a treasure, examining him from head to toe.
"You should take a rest now." Mu Rongyun glanced at his wristwatch, showing some concern from the side, urging Wu Shuang. He was actually the one who shouldn't be here.
"Wait a bit longer, this uncle is incredible." Wu Shuang shook her head, reluctant to be forced to bed, totally uncomfortable, and moreover, Zhang Qian's home wasn't very comfortable either.
Xu Ming paused awkwardly when he saw no one else speaking. "I'm not sure if my analysis is correct; could you give me some suggestions?"
"Officer Xu, please continue."
"I... I think a low-level person can't handle a big matter, and a high-level person wouldn't bother with trivial matters, so I should start moving from the current low-end members to the mid-level, like when Han Fei was in position, he needed to negotiate certain contacts. A director wouldn't handle these trivial things himself, so the police station inevitably takes the lead, which is already under our control."
"Drug trafficking and prostitution criminal cases are not under the police station's jurisdiction!" Xu Ming glanced at Hua Qingyi, always feeling that saying so made it seem he was overstepping.
"Mu Rongyun, is it time to take Wu Shuang back? It's getting late." Xiao Lin suddenly interrupted Xu Ming, because Wu Shuang was panting, and he hadn't even inquired about the effects after the medication injection.
"I can still stay a bit longer." Wu Shuang protested. Her usually beautiful long hair now looked unusually withered.
"No way!" Both men spoke simultaneously. After looking at each other, Mu Rongyun directly picked Wu Shuang up. "We'll stay at the usual place," he said firmly as he walked out the door.
"You two are getting more and more in sync." Hua Qingyi teased Xiao Lin, unsure if the Xiao Lin now would still have the same mindset as the one who just left here.
"Start with Yan Juanjuan." Xiao Lin immediately set the entry point on the president of Hengfei Group. "Since Yao Zheng has pushed all the evidence onto this woman, we will follow that lead."
Hua Qingyi shook his head, finding something amiss. "If we target Yan Juanjuan, I have no objection, but the target is too big, drawing too much attention."
"I agree with Hua's concern, but I think we can start with Yan Juanjuan, targeting not her directly, but the businesses under her." Xu Ming nodded.
"Secretary Luo once mentioned that there was a homicide when Hengfei Group was established, which can be a starting point, and Beigong is a key direction. Officer Xu can investigate Beigong today, and those mid-level people will soon be exposed one by one. As for the other homicide cases, we can temporarily set them aside; a clear answer is just lacking evidence."
"There's no problem with that." Xu Ming consented, but there was a question he'd wanted to ask several times, always hesitating before he finally spoke up.
"Is there a question Officer Xu wants to ask?"
"I've always been curious about a person called Fourth Master; who exactly is this person?" From Xu Ming's perspective, it wasn't wrong to ask, as Yao Zheng and Yan Juanjuan seem to be playing profit-seeking roles, while the real key figure is this Fourth Master. Seeing Hua Qingyi frown, he hurried to wave his hand. "I don't mean I must know, just feel that she might be the key to this case."
"Fourth Master is not someone you can handle. If Officer Xu can get through Yao Zheng, then you will basically know who Fourth Master is, but we are not telling you for your safety." Hua Qingyi frowned, while being excited, but also began to worry about the safety of these people.
"I see."
"Officer Xu, I must remind you, this case has already cost many lives, so once you start, there's no turning back."
"I understand." Xu Ming had anticipated such an outcome. It might be his last chance in life; no matter what, he wouldn't want to give up. (To be continued.
