Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 474: Third Partied
Jace kicked the one in front that was holding the angled shield. Sending him flying backwards and surprising the other six that were around. Then before they could react he was tossing his assault rifle at one of them to catch them off guard while he materialized his knife in his hand. The nearest commando barely had to process the strange action of him tossing his gun before the knife slipped in through a gap in his armor and penetrated his chest.
They grunted and made a surprised noise. But the strike was not lethal. It would have taken him far too long to get past the armor and stab him in a spot that would have been lethal. Instead he just channeled an abnormally high amount of electricity into his knife and then the enemy’s body.
He screamed in pain before going still and dying. Shocking the other commandos only momentarily before they started fumbling for their knives. But Jace was already moving to the next enemy. The next commando’s knife sparked against Jace’s own. While the others tried to get at him but he kept too close to the commando for them to be able to attack him.
Jace grabbed him by an armor panel and then smashed his helmeted head against the commando’s own helmeted head. There was a loud cracking as the visor on the commando’s helmet cracked and then Jace was moving round him. Going with a low thrust of his knife that went under the armor panel near the hip.
Then he yanked it to the side and a burst of blood came from the commando’s hip before it was stopped by the compression of the armor. But Jace was already lifting and throwing them at another commando when they fell unconscious.
Jace moved to the next one but swiped his knife to the side, cutting through the Pyre of one of the other commandos. "You really do think you are better than us!" The commando yelled as he jumped forward and stabbed toward a gap in Jace’s armor.
Jace tilted slightly and the knife sparked against the metal as the yellow shielding appeared as well. He elbowed the commando in the face. Cracking another visor as he spun around and kicked another commando in the chest. It was the first one who had caught his gun. He flew backward until there was a sickening cracking noise and a piece of metal was protruding from his chest.
Jace froze and blinked in surprise under his helmet as he watched the commando’s body being tossed away by a shake of the horn headed creature. "Is that one with you?" Jace asked as he flipped the knife in his hand.
"We thought he was with you." The commando he headbutted answered as he looked between Jace and the creature that was standing at a full height. It came from the opposite side of the hallway that Jace and Asher came from.
"Nope." Jace answered.
It had dark scales covering its body with two large and pointed horns protruding from its head like a bull’s. A snout and sharpened teeth covering its mouth. Faint scars covering its face and darker body. It stood at twice Jace’s height and had muscles covered by scales and leathery skin. It led down to a pair of tattered pants and a set of hoof covered feet while its hands were giant claws that looked like they could slice through metal.
"Asher!" Jace called out and laser fire slammed into the side of the creature’s head. It caused the creature to flinch and then look over to Asher who was crouched just a short distance away. Ready to dive into another room.
"That is one of them. The other one I can smell further down the hall!" Asher called out. Then he suddenly spun and shot past Jace and the creature.
Jace looked over and saw some of the mechanical spiders skittering down the hall coming from where the monster came from. Jace dashed forward and slid under the creature, grabbing his weapon that he threw earlier as he slid. Then he fired a spread of bullets into the mechanical spiders.
"I am going for the one controlling the mechanical spiders! Asher, work with the commandos to distract that creature." Jace ordered as he moved toward the room the mechanical spiders had come spilling out of. He swung a hand and threw off one that had climbed onto his arm. It slammed into a wall and dented before falling to the ground.
He did not wait for a response before he was in the room and found the source of the mechanical spiders. Or rather the controller. It was an over cyber connected person. He was currently hardwire connected to a few different devices when Jace ran in.
One was a printing device, another was a transmitter. He aimed his weapon at Jace and quickly fired. Jace sensing danger jumped to the side and the slow moving bolt slammed into the wall. Jace watched as part of the wall melted.
Jace quickly threw his knife and it slammed into the cybernetic person’s weapon. Causing a small explosion of the same blue plasma that covered one of his arms and the printer. While Jace aimed and fired at the transmitter, destroying it. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The cybernetic person screamed in pain as the flesh and muscle was slowly burnt away and left metal and bone. Jace was already upon him and tearing out the wires that were connecting him to the printer and transmitter.
He screamed in pain as Jace put his rifle back on his back and tossed him away from the plasma that was already burning through the floor of the room. He walked over and slammed his foot on the cybernetic person’s chest before looking at the door where a number of operational mechanical spiders had frozen and powered off.
"Aarrghhh it hurts! Please, I need help!" The man called out in desperation and pain. It was partially drowned out by the gunfire and loud animalistic noises coming from the hall.
"Okay, I can help you. But I need you to tell me who you are and what you are doing aboard this ship?" Jace demanded as he looked at the growing wound. By this point he could see the bone and cybernetic parts covering his entire arm. The plasma was now slowly eating into the man’s side and shoulder.
"We came for the royal records! I am called Max, my buddy is Bull! Then our boss is Marcus Trentwood!" The man screamed between sobs of pain. "We owed him our life! But when we got here he ditched us for some reason and made his way to the hangar! Probably because he realized the escape pods had all been fired already! Please, it hurts so much!"
Jace frowned and connected to the communication channel. "Ulin, I have identified the third party. I have two of them here. The third that went to the hangar is Marcus Trentwood."
"Understood. I already lost contact with K and Bella. Nulltone and I will head that way and meet you there. I suggest you pick up the pace as well." Ulin answered before disconnected.
Jace looked at the crying man. "What does Marcus have up his sleeve?" Jace asked.
"He has a ship; it is one that the ancients created! That is all I know I swear! Now help me!" The man demanded in a painful sob.
"Okay." Jace nodded and pulled the magnus revolver from his back hip holster and unloaded two shots into the cybernetic man. One went through his brain, the other was aimed at the electrical power outlet that was in his body. The body went still as the cybernetic man died with a look of fear and pain on his face.
Jace stepped away from the corpse as the plasma ate away at his body and stepped back into the hall as he holstered his revolver. He arrived just in time to watch Asher toss aside the head of the giant bull-like creature from before. He looked at Asher whose armor showed signs of fighting with all the scratches and a few puncture marks.
He then looked at the remaining Commandos who were still alive but were mostly injured. He did not feel good about the idea of finishing them off. It just did not sit well with him.
"I suppose this is the part where you finish us off?" One of the commandos who had a hole in his leg asked. He had already finished first aid to stop the bleeding but he had probably already lost the leg.
"No." Jace answered, getting a surprise head turn from Asher who was fully prepared to finish them off. "The very outskirts of the unexplored territories are your best bet for any sort of life. I suggest you make your way there." He then walked past them. "Think of this as the only mercy as someone who was originally supposed to join your ranks can offer."
