Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1018: Heretical Forces
Chapter 1018: Heretical Forces
The God of Justice was not the only one seeking to reshape the very fabric of this world.
The Dark Lady, leader of the Dark Alliance, pursued a different path.
Unlike the God of Justice, she did not focus on cultivating a vast following of believers.
Instead, she sought to use the body of a supreme deity to break the barrier of this world.
She did not need to destroy it entirely—a single crack would be enough to glimpse what lay beyond.
The Dark Lady built a strong relationship with the demons in recent years, hoping to gain their assistance in her endeavor.
Moreover, she had borrowed a Tablet of Fate from the God of Justice.
There were three Tablets of Fate in Faeloria, safeguarded by its most powerful beings—the Dark Lady, the God of Justice, and the Elemental God.
These ancient artifacts were said to have been left behind by Dio, the God of Gods, and were rumored to be the cause of every Avatar Crisis throughout history.
Neither the Dark Lady nor the others could fully wield the tablets’ power. They could only borrow a mere sliver of their strength.
But even that sliver was enough to remind them of the immense power Dio once wielded.
In truth, there were not just three tablets—there were four.
The God of Justice and the others had attempted to reconstruct the full set, only to realize that a piece was missing.
The Elemental God speculated that the missing tablet remained in Dio’s possession.
If they could bring all the Tablets of Fate together, perhaps they could break through this world’s barriers.
Unfortunately...
As the God of Justice and the God of Radiance conversed, a lesser deity arrived at the top of the temple.
“The God of Oak from the Wings of Nature has come to pay a visit. It also brought a divine message from the Elemental God,” he hurriedly reported.
The God of Justice exchanged a glance with the God of Bright Radiance before saying, “Bring it here.”
The God of Oak was an intermediate deity affiliated with the Wings of Nature, known for its fair reputation.
For it to come to the Justice Theocracy bearing a message from the Elemental God could only mean one thing—something of significant importance had occurred.
The God of Radiance leaned in slightly and whispered, “It’s likely about the God of Brute Force, the deity who perished last night. It’s one of the God of Oak’s subordinate deities.”
The God of Justice nodded but said nothing.
Weak deities did not even warrant his attention, and the death of a mere God of Brute Force was of no concern to him.
However, he was quite curious about the message from the Elemental God.
The God of Oak was a tree that had achieved godhood, much like the Verdant Wilderness God Sein had encountered during his time in the Verdant Leaf World.
At this moment, however, the entity standing before them was merely a clone manifested through its divine power.
In Faeloria, a god from another pantheon would not simply enter a fellow deity’s divine nation without cause. To do so was akin to stepping into an enemy’s territory.
The God of Oak’s divine clone took the form of a kindly old man, leaning on a cane.
As expected, it had indeed come regarding the fallen god from last night.
Neither the God of Oak nor the other fellow deities in the Wings of Nature had uncovered the truth behind the God of Brute Force’s demise.
They did not even know where it had fallen—let alone who was responsible.
Just last night, the God of Oak had dispatched weaker deities—all former allies of the fallen god—to investigate the archipelago in the outer sea, where the God of Brute Force’s divine nation lay in ruins.
Unfortunately, all of them returned empty-handed.
It was as if the God of Brute Force had simply ceased to exist.
Had this merely been an investigation into the God of Brute Force’s death, the God of Justice would have cast the God of Oak from his temple without hesitation—perhaps even erased his divine clone on the spot.
However, just as his patience began to fray, the God of Oak uttered a name that made the God of Justice pause.
“According to the Elemental Lord, the forces of darkness and heresy have once again invaded our world. There is a high probability that they were responsible for the God of Brute Force’s demise.”
"Oh?” The God of Justice straightened slightly, a flicker of intrigue passing through his gaze.
“The forces of heresy... and not those insignificant Godslayers?” he asked.
The God of Oak shook its head gravely.
"It shouldn’t be them. The Elemental Lord has sensed something... something far more ominous over the past twenty years. Since the fall of the God of Brute Force, that premonition has only intensified.
“According to the Elemental Lord, this may be just the beginning. A heretical force, far greater than the demons of Purgatory, has already begun to infiltrate our world.”
Though only an intermediate deity, the God of Oak had lived long enough to understand the origins of the demons.
Having served the Elemental God for many years, it had learned of secrets known only to the upper echelons of this world.
As the God of Oak finished speaking, a small smirk played on the God of Justice’s lips.
“Greater than the demons? Isn’t the Elemental God being too sensitive?” The God of Justice shook his head.
“I know it prides itself on being the guardian of this world and has deeply developed the functions of the Tablets of Fate, but as far as I am aware, it does not possess particularly strong prophetic abilities of its own.”
He leaned back, his voice carrying a note of amusement.
“Besides, even if a heretical force has entered our world—so what? In the end, it will be assimilated into Faeloria, and become a part of it like everything else.” frёewebηovel.cѳm
The God of Justice was confident, conceited even. In his eyes, the presence of a heretical force in Faeloria was not necessarily a bad thing.
If anything, it proved that another world existed beyond their own.
He might even be able to use these heretical forces to accelerate his own ascension.
The God of Justice’s rise to power had only truly accelerated over the past two hundred thousand years, ever since he joined forces with the Elemental God and made great contributions in the battle against the demons.
Faeloria itself despised and rejected all deviants—those who refused to conform to its natural order.
During the demon wars, the annihilation of powerful demons had resulted in great boons from the will of the world itself.
Simply put, if the God of Justice could eliminate the Bloodwar Monarch, Levon Thorstein, right now, then perhaps he would not need to spend thousands of years accumulating strength.
With the blessing of world’s will, his long-awaited ascension to Overgod would happen immediately.
Sometimes, the arrival of heretical forces in Faeloria was not a curse—it was an opportunity.
Even the Dark Lady of the Dark Alliance would undoubtedly find these intruders from beyond the world extremely intriguing.
However, the Elemental God did not share the God of Justice’s optimism.
It had been restless since the previous night, so much so that it had immediately dispatched its most trusted subordinate, the God of Oak, to deliver a warning.
“The Elemental God wishes that you, God of Justice, could enlist the aid of the Goddess of Luck, Tyvera, to perform divination and uncover the whereabouts of the heretic responsible for the God of Brute Force’s demise. The Elemental God does not wish for our world to be tainted by forces that do not belong to it.”
The God of Oak respectfully relayed the oracle from the Elemental God.
The God of Justice’s smile faded slightly, but he nodded in the end.
