Sons of a devil-Chapter 64: The storm before reckoning
Chapter 64 - The storm before reckoning
The world outside the throne room returned in a sudden, jarring blur of sound and color.
Cain stumbled as the shift dropped them into the forest where it had all begun. The blackened ash circle still smoldered faintly behind them, a haunting reminder of the trial they had just survived.
Leo was the first to speak, voice low. "He's preparing for war."
Eren sat down against a tree trunk, rubbing his temples. "He said it like a promise. Not a threat."
Selene stood near Cain, holding onto him—not out of fear, but something else. Something deeper. Her eyes traced the outlines of his bruises, the blood on his shirt, the fire still dancing beneath his skin.
"You three," she whispered, "are not just sons of a devil anymore."

Cain looked up at her. "Then what are we?"
Her voice broke, just a little. "You're the only family I have."
A beat of silence followed—thick with unspoken emotion.
Then Leo cleared his throat. "I guess we'll need more than sibling love to survive what's coming."
He pulled a scroll from his coat, one he had taken during his trial, hidden from their father's eyes. It glowed softly with ancient script.
"What is that?" Eren asked.
Leo unrolled it, revealing a map inked in blood and fire. "A route to the Sacred Ruins. Hidden from demonic vision. If we want allies, knowledge, weapons strong enough to rival his, this is our first step."
Cain's hand tightened around Selene's. "And we move fast. He'll send more than shadows this time."
Selene nodded. "Then let's go. Before he strikes first."
The Journey to the Ruins
The days blurred. They rode through ruined towns, crossed rivers thick with ash, and climbed mountains that groaned under the weight of ancient curses. Everywhere they went, whispers of war followed.
At night, Cain would sit with Selene, watching the stars. She leaned against him, head on his shoulder, their silence deeper than words.
"He'll come for you again," she murmured one night. "He'll try to turn you."
Cain kissed her forehead, gently. "Then let him come. I've already chosen who I am."
In the Valley of Echoes
They arrived at the Sacred Ruins at dusk. The valley was filled with broken statues—warriors frozen in time, their expressions caught in screams, battle cries, and desperate pleas. It was like walking into a graveyard of heroes.
Leo held the scroll up, murmuring incantations under his breath. The ground shifted. A seal cracked open beneath the largest statue, revealing a stairwell that spiraled into the dark.
Cain looked at his brothers. "Ready?"
Eren smirked. "I was born ready. Literally in fire."
Leo rolled his eyes, but there was affection in it. "Let's not die down there."
Selene walked beside Cain as they descended. Her fingers brushed his.
"Promise me," she said, softly, "you'll come back. All of you."
Cain didn't look at her. He didn't need to.
"I promise."
The Depths Beneath
Below the ruins, they found a library sealed by time. Glyphs lit the air. Books whispered in forgotten tongues.
Among the relics, they found what they came for: a blade forged from celestial iron, said to cut through demonic soul-binding. A weapon their father feared.
But they weren't alone.
Shadows moved. Not just beasts—but traitors. Warlocks loyal to their father. One of them, a once-banished uncle, stepped forward with a sick grin.
"So the bastard sons return."
Eren's eyes blazed. "Let's give them a reason to fear us."
The Battle
The fight exploded in a blur of light and darkness. Leo summoned a storm of spectral arrows, each one striking with deadly precision. Eren slammed his fists into the earth, sending shockwaves that shattered bones and steel.
Cain held the celestial blade—and with Selene fighting at his side, danced like a storm reborn.
They didn't just fight to survive.
They fought like a family.
When the last traitor fell, panting and bloodied, Cain stood in the center of the room, his blade glowing, chest heaving.
He looked at the blade.
"This is how we end him."
When they emerged, the stars had shifted. A blood-red moon rose in the sky.
War had begun.
And the sons of the devil... were finally ready.
