Chapter 1603: Chapter 45 : Freedom and Forever

*Briella*

I leaped over a fallen log, my paws barely making a sound on the soft forest floor. The wind whispered through the trees, ruffling my fur in cool caresses. It made my heart swell with an untamed joy. For the first time in what felt like ages, the weight of responsibility was lifted from my shoulders and replaced by an exhilarating freedom that surged through my veins with every bound I took.

"I could do this forever," I thought, my breath coming out in misty plumes that danced away into the night. The sensation of running, the powerful muscles in my legs propelling me forward, filled me with an intoxicating sense of strength. The forest was a blur of shadows and silver light, but I navigated it effortlessly, my senses heightened and alive.

"Free... finally free." My mind echoed the sentiment as I darted through the underbrush, my wolf form giving me the liberty to forget the darkness that encroached upon Celestial Valley—the plague that threatened everything I held dear. “Run, run, run.”

This was my reprieve, my soul’s respite from the burdens I had been carrying since I returned to the valley, maybe for even longer than that. Drius, Kryzen, the darkness... None of it mattered out there.

"Nothing else matters right now," I reassured myself, "just the wind, the earth beneath my paws, and the pure, unfettered bliss of the chase."

I let out a playful bark, the sound ricocheting off ancient trunks and up to the star-studded heavens. It was a declaration of my temporary escape, a testament to the wildness within that no dark force could ever fully quell. With each stride, I embraced the primal essence of my being, the warrior and the protector but also the girl who yearned for joy and the company of those she loved fiercely.

"Live in the moment, Briella," I reminded myself, the thought punctuated by the rustle of leaves and the distant call of a nocturnal creature. My ears twitched, tuning into the symphony of the night. For a fleeting span, all was perfect.

The scent of pine and damp earth filled my nostrils as I bounded through the forest. Abruptly, a different scent caught my attention—one unmistakably wolf. Slowing to a halt, I raised my head, ears pricked forward. My heart pounded, not with exertion, but with a sudden unease.

"Reckless girl," a voice cut through the silence. The bushes rustled as he stepped into the clearing, his tall form casting a long shadow in the moonlight. His gray eyes were stern, his body bare, and his black hair tousled from shifting back to human form.

Kryzen... My bark came out more of a growl, frustration bubbling within me. I watched as he began to pace, his broad shoulders tense.

"Did you think you could just run away from it all?" he chided, crossing his arms over his chest. "You could have been attacked by those... those things. You know the dark forces don’t rest. What if they had gotten to you, Briella? What if you had been hurt, or worse?"

I huffed, the sound muffled by my wolfish snout. Reluctantly, I let the wildness recede, feeling the familiar tug and twist as my body reformed. Standing on two legs again, I met his glare with defiance in my bright green eyes. My breaths came out in short puffs, steaming in the cool night air.

"Why do you care so much, Kryzen?" I asked, my voice steady despite the cold that kissed my bare skin. "Why does it matter to you if I take a moment for myself?"

"Because it’s foolish." He took a step closer, his expression unyielding. "You are not just any warrior, Briella. You are still mortal. You could have been hurt. There are expectations, duties..."

"Expectations!" I spat the word out as if it were venom. "I’m well aware of my duties and the darkness that has settled over our lives here. But what about living, Kryzen? Should I forget how to feel alive?"

"Alive?" His voice softened slightly, confusion flickering in his eyes. "Is that what this is about?"

"Partly," I admitted, wrapping my arms around myself. "I needed to breathe, run, and not think about the darkness for just a moment. Can’t you understand that?"

He sighed, running a hand through his hair, looking suddenly weary. "I understand more than you think, Briella. But understanding doesn’t keep you safe. It doesn’t keep any of us safe."

"Then let me worry about my safety," I said firmly. "You have your own burdens, Kryzen Stormfall. Don’t add mine to them."

"Too late for that," he muttered, almost too quietly for me to hear. His gaze held mine. For a heartbeat, we simply looked at each other, the tension between us thick enough to touch.

"Kryzen," I began, but the words tangled on my tongue, unsure of what I wanted to say next.

"Too late for that," Kryzen’s whispered confession hung in the air, a secret shared in the stillness of the night. I felt a spark ignite within me, a flare of something wild and undeniable.

"Why?" My voice broke, softer now, the anger dissipating like mist in the morning sun. "Why can’t you just let me be?"

Our eyes met, and I could feel the bond between us pulsing with life and power, a tangible force that wound around us in white-hot strings, binding us together.

"Because you’re mine." His words were simple, but they struck me with the force of a thunderbolt.

I sucked in a breath, my heart hammering against my ribs. The world seemed to shrink until there was nothing but Kryzen and me, our breaths mingling in the charged space that had once been filled with heated words.

"Yours?" I echoed. My voice was barely above a whisper, but it was enough. At that moment, every inch of distance that separated us vanished as he closed the gap, his strong hands framing my face, drawing me in.

"Mine," he affirmed, and then his lips were on mine, fierce and demanding. The kiss was passionate, a storm of desperate longing and unspoken promises crashing over us. Time lost meaning as I melted into him, my fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer. All thoughts of arguments and danger slipped away, replaced by the overwhelming sensation of being claimed, being wanted.

"Kryzen," I murmured against his lips, surrendering to the passion that consumed us both. It was a kiss that spoke of battles, moonlit runs, shared strength, and the courage to face the darkness together forever. For a brief, shining moment, we weren’t the Alpha’s daughter and the general’s son. We were simply Briella and Kryzen, hearts entwined under the canopy of stars.

The kiss broke, leaving us both gasping for air, the remnants of anger now smoldering embers in the fire that had ignited between us. My skin tingled where his fingers brushed lightly over my collarbone, tracing the path down to the curves he unveiled with a reverent touch. The cool night air was a sharp contrast to the warmth of Kryzen’s hands as they explored me, and I shivered, not from cold but from pure, unadulterated desire.

"Kryzen," I breathed out, the name a sacred chant that only fed the flames. His grey eyes, swirling like storm clouds about to break, met mine, and I saw the raw hunger mirrored there.

"Beautiful," he murmured, his voice deep and rough, echoing the primal rhythm that pulsed through our veins. His hands cupped my breasts, thumbs grazing sensitive peaks, sending jolts of pleasure shooting through me.

"Does this feel good?" he asked, his voice laced with a devilish curiosity that made my knees buckle.

"Y-yes," I stammered, arching into his touch, seeking more of the sensation that was turning my thoughts hazy. His erection pressed insistently against my stomach, a reminder of the undeniable physical reality that drew us together.

"Only good?" He leaned in, his breath hot against my ear. I could hear the smirk in his words before I felt his fingers trail lower, exploring the heat and wetness that betrayed my arousal.

"Much more than good," I managed to reply, my voice breaking as his fingers slipped inside, finding a rhythm that left me clinging to him for support.

"Tell me, Briella," he whispered, his lips brushing against the shell of my ear, "tell me what you want." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Kryzen, please," I begged. I wasn’t sure if I was asking for mercy or urging him on. But he understood, his movements becoming more deliberate, more insistent.

"Please what? Use your words, beautiful," he teased, the sweetness of the endearment sharply contrasted by the wicked curl of his finger that sent shocks of pleasure radiating throughout my body.

"Touch me... Make me yours..." I said, the words pouring out amidst gasps and moans as he continued to pleasure me, his free hand gripping my hip to keep me steady.

"You are mine," he promised, his voice thick with the same need that thrummed through my veins. The night around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the sensation of his fingers moving within me, the beat of my heart in my ears, and the promise of something more, something that was ours alone to claim.

The moon hung low as I surrendered to Kryzen’s touch. His fingers, skilled and knowing, had coaxed from me sounds I didn’t recognize—primal, raw, and utterly wanton. The cool air of night brushed against my heated skin, a stark contrast to the warmth of his body against mine.

"Kryzen," I whispered, my voice laced with urgency. "I need you."

He paused, his grey eyes searching mine beneath the moon’s glow. "Are you certain?" he asked, the intensity in his gaze matching the fervor of his touch.

"More than anything," I breathed out. It was the truth. At that moment, there was no room for doubt, only the undeniable craving that pulsed through me.

He moved, positioning himself between my thighs, his hands framing my face tenderly. "Look at me," he commanded softly, and I did, locking onto the stormy depths of his eyes. I saw the same hunger reflected back at me, the same raw emotion that threatened to consume us both.

"Mine," he murmured, echoing the promise he’d made earlier. And then he was pressing into me, slowly, giving me time to adjust to the fullness, the intensity of him claiming me as his own.

"Kryzen!" I gasped, arching my back, welcoming him deeper. The world fell away, leaving only the sensation of our bodies moving together in an ancient, perfect rhythm.

"Mine," he growled, each thrust punctuating the word, a vow etched in the very depth of our beings.

"Yours," I affirmed between moans, my nails digging into the muscles of his back, marking him as he marked me. We moved under the lunar symphony, two halves of a whole finding completion in the other’s embrace.

"Say it again," he pleaded, his voice strained with effort.

"Yours," I repeated louder, the word a talisman against the darkness that had once threatened to engulf us.

"Forever," he said, sealing the words with a kiss that stole my breath away.

"Forever," I echoed against his lips, feeling the mate bond wrap around us like the most intricate of spells—a tether of light amidst the shadows, unbreakable and eternal.

We found release together, a crescendo of shared whispers and ragged breaths that seemed to echo through the valley. Collapsing into each other’s arms, we lay there, spent and sated, the cool grass beneath us and the stars above our only witnesses.

"Yours," I murmured, the simple confession slipping easily from my lips.

"Yours," Kryzen replied, his voice a warm blanket around my heart.

As we lay there, entwined under the celestial canvas, I knew that no matter what darkness lay ahead, this moment, this bond, would be our guiding star. It was our promise of hope in the face of any adversity.
