Snowstorm: I'm Super Rich in the Apocalypse-Chapter 366: Won’t Become a Terrible Good Person
Chapter 366: Chapter 366: Won’t Become a Terrible Good Person
"A small matter? It may be a small matter in your eyes, but it’s a lifetime of hurt in my heart." Ma Jiahong really didn’t understand why it was always like this when talking to her husband; no matter whose fault it was between them, it always ended up being her fault, the one to blame was always her.
"So, what do you want, a divorce right now?" Shen Qiu’s tone was also sarcastic. They had fought a lot, and talk of divorce wasn’t new; he didn’t care when he said it.
"Shen Qiu, you really think too highly of yourself. Do you think I can’t live without you? Before, it was for the sake of the child, now I can’t even hope to find the child, and even if we do find him, can you truly protect him? Let’s get a divorce after this disaster passes; you go find your Wanwan." At this point, Ma Jiahong was really tired. No matter how good or bad she was, people always criticized her—so why hadn’t her husband stood by her side even once?
"It all comes back to you being jealous, doesn’t it? Why can’t you be more generous-hearted?" Shen Qiu shook his head, his eyes filled with disappointment as he looked at Ma Jiahong.
"I don’t have your kind of generosity. To marry a wife and still keep another in your heart—that’s a generosity too great for me to aspire to." Ma Jiahong no longer cared about her husband’s opinion. She had lived like this for so many years; what had she gained?
"Are you done? Forget it, I don’t want to talk anymore; it’s exhausting." After saying that, Shen Qiu closed his eyes, pretending to sleep, and refused to eat.
Ma Jiahong ate all the food Gu Pan had sent over herself. Before, she would always think of her husband first, but not anymore. Initially, she had thought of them as a support for each other, but now she realized her husband was unreliable, and she was better off relying on herself.
She knew she wasn’t necessarily a good person, but how genuine was her husband’s kindness? Many previously hidden issues had surfaced during this apocalypse. His words might have been helpful before, but having faced life and death, she had come to see things differently.
Shen Qiu knew his wife had a sharp tongue but a soft heart, and knew profoundly of her deep love for him, so he wasn’t worried—he expected she would still ask him to come and eat later.
But this time, it surprised him. When he woke up from his sleep, there was nothing to eat, only some hot water.
He had to stave off his hunger by drinking hot water, but the more he drank, the hungrier he felt, and he also felt the urge to pee but couldn’t move his legs and would need to ask for his wife’s help to go to the toilet—yet he didn’t want to be the first to give in.
At this time, Ma Jiahong no longer cared about her husband. She was sound asleep, feeling truly good after letting go of everything, completely without anger.
Eventually, Shen Qiu couldn’t bear it anymore and woke Ma Jiahong, pleading with her to help him relieve himself.
Gu Pan and the others didn’t know about this situation and didn’t plan on interacting much with them; they just waited for the day of rescue, signaling for the rescue team with lights.
The next morning, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng still went to bring Ma Jiahong and Shen Qiu breakfast after having their own meal, still sweet potato pancakes and water, adding two more sets of utensils to soak the pancakes in water.
After entering, Lu Ruisheng inquired about Shen Qiu’s condition, warning against infections and fever—they had saved them, and now they needed to ensure they stayed alive to wait for rescue.
Shen Qiu was quite frail: "I’m alright, it should be nothing." As he spoke, his stomach growled twice.
Ma Jiahong felt a bit embarrassed, for she had not given Shen Qiu food, but she couldn’t admit that: "Old Shen’s stomach is not good, you don’t need to worry."
Hearing them say this, Gu Pan wasn’t worried anymore. Their only job was to keep these two alive.
She stated, "There isn’t much medicine now, so just drink more hot water." It wasn’t an emergency, no need to waste medicine on outsiders.
Shen Qiu couldn’t say much, only expressing his gratitude to Gu Pan: "Thank you all. If it wasn’t for you, I would have died. I didn’t thank you yesterday—your kindness will never be forgotten by us."
Lu Ruisheng responded, "No need for such formalities; no one could ignore someone in a life-and-death situation."
"Apocalypse has come; families are hurting each other, and yet you, strangers, saved me, showing your great righteousness," Shen Qiu was eloquent in expressing his gratitude.
Lu Ruisheng responded, "You flatter us; get some rest." He didn’t want to talk much partly because he didn’t have a favorable impression of Ma Jiahong and was just waiting for the rescue to arrive.
Shen Qiu thanked them again.
Ma Jiahong escorted them to the door, watched as Gu Pan locked it, then went over to the bed where Shen Qiu was lying, "Are you eating today? If not, I’ll eat everything."
What else could Shen Qiu say? To not eat was to starve, "Why wouldn’t I eat?" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"If you need my care, then show some courtesy," Ma Jiahong had suddenly become enlightened and changed her attitude toward Shen Qiu.
Shen Qiu had no choice but to seek help from Ma Jiahong; he now hoped to be rescued soon, and then to head to the base rescue center where there were more people, and Ma Jiahong wouldn’t feel comfortable treating him badly.
The next afternoon, Cheng Yang came running in a hurry, "Brother, sister, my shipping container house collapsed; I don’t know which part was hollowed out by the water, but thankfully the quails were rescued and taken to Dr. Feng’s place."
Gu Pan was relieved to know that everyone was safe, "That’s good, as long as people are fine, everything else is minor."
Cheng Yang nodded, "Yeah, Squad Leader Fang said the same. I just wanted to let you know, be careful too."
Gu Pan looked at Lu Ruisheng, "Why don’t we keep the door of the shipping container house open today? The rescue will come tomorrow; let’s not have the shack collapse and someone die in our house."
Lu Ruisheng had no objections, "Just open it when we sleep, we can hear if there’s any noise in the meantime."
"Okay," Gu Pan agreed, and then everyone looked out the window; the torrential rain was really irritating.
Their home’s windowsill was sealed with plastic, surrounded by wooden strips wrapping the plastic again for reinforcement; although some leaks remained, it kept water from entering the house.
"When will this rain ever stop?" Gu Pan sighed.
"No one can predict; after all, the timing and type of each disaster are different," Lu Ruisheng replied.
Cheng Yang stared outside, "Why is living so difficult?"
"The quails have laid eggs again, auntie," Meng Meng ran in cheerfully holding two quail eggs and spoke to Gu Pan.
The previously oppressive atmosphere quickly dissipated; children, Breeding Eggs, all carried hope.
Gu Pan went over to take the Breeding Eggs from Meng Meng’s hands, "Twenty in total now, right? Let’s start incubating them."
Due to the climate, the quails’ egg production wasn’t high, usually one a day, but even that wasn’t consistent; some days, they wouldn’t lay any eggs.
Meng Meng happily agreed, "Yes, it would be great if we could hatch some little quails."
Gu Pan took Meng Meng to get an incubator, then placed the quail eggs inside. The chance of successfully hatching them wasn’t very high, but it should be somewhat better than at the base and Gu Ci’s place where their feed was inferior and lacked sufficient nutrients; feeding them well ourselves might yield better results, though one couldn’t be too hopeful.
