Sinner System-Chapter 501: Final Dungeon Entry

"The reversed safety barriers are stable, no signs of noise or fluctuations!"

"Energy consumption is as estimated previously."

"How long will they last?" I inquired hesitantly.

"Approximately twelve hours in continuous operation, sir."

Hm...not bad, but no ideal either.

Can the X-Aces really conquer the Final Dungeon in half a day? I suppose we have no choice but to wait and find out.

This was our plan...thin out the Monsters as much as possible with the bombs, and then protect the Sanctuaries with these barriers while the X-Aces and a few of the best Aces raid the Final Dungeon.

The barriers are based on the safety barriers we use for sparring between Hunters. Anything Mana-based or possessing Mana will get teleported back the instant they come into contact with the outside of the barrier.

Fortunately, it doesn’t look like there are any Archdemons with teleportation Demonic Arts, so these barriers should keep them occupied for a while.

Of course, they’ll be pointless if the team we deployed to the Final Dungeon falls. We have the rest of the remaining Aces standing by inside the Sanctuaries, as a last line of defense.

But...if the Monsters do break through, they’ll die. All are hopes are riding on the X-Aces, our very survival depends on them.

The final battle to decide the fate of humanity begins now...

"So, this is the Final Dungeon, huh? If we can conquer this place, we win the war," Remarked Jaden, a determined gleam in his eyes.

"Which is definitely going to be easier said than done, but at least it’s simple," Responded Aarav, glancing around warily.

We’d just entered the Final Dungeon, into the first of the eight floors in the large structure.

The base of this pyramid spans an area of five square kilometers, so we’ve got a lot of ground to cover.

Naturally, each subsequent floor will be smaller than the last, but this is still a lot. And we don’t have much time to work with.

We were a party of eleven. There was myself and Aria, of course, and Cleo’s here too, along with Jaden, Aarav and Iseul, so all the X-Aces are present.

In addition to the six of us X-Aces, we also had Ciel, Rex, Brid, Petrus, and an Ace Enchanter from Sanctuary Gamma, Jax Kinge.

Vaszel and the Sentinels aren’t the only Monsters in here, and we can’t afford to wear ourselves out fighting off the swarms of other Monsters in here.

So, that’s where the Aces come in. Ciel possibly has the greatest destructive power in the world with her Explosion Magic, even compared to the X-Aces.

So it was a no-brainer to include her, there are few people who are better suited to wiping out large numbers of Monsters than she is.

Rex’s Magic makes him untouchable, and Petrus is capable of holding his own too. As for the Enchanter, some buffs should definitely prove useful in this place, especially against the Sentinels and Vaszel.

And we also need a Healer, Brid was selected because, despite his lack of experience, no other Healer is as capable as he is when it comes to combat.

There are a fair number of other Ace Healers, but all of them are pretty much specialized in support, some are able to fight off Low and Mid Level Monsters, but Brid is capable of taking on anything at or below Critical Level, so he was the most logical choice.

We didn’t go with a Detector, because Cleo is capable of detection, thanks to some of the Skills she acquired.

"Alright, as planned, you’ll be up front until we come across a Sentinel, Ciel. The rest of us will back you up if you need it. Jax, you’ll bring up the rear. Brid and Rex, you guys will be in front of him. Iseul, Aarav and Petrus, the three of you will form our mid line, and Aria, myself, Cleo and Jaden will be right behind Ciel," I reminded them, as we began shuffling into formation.

"So, I can let loose without restraint, right?" Inquired Ciel with an excited grin.

"Yeah, sure, knock yourself out," I nodded with a wry smile.

Since we’ve got an Ace Enchanter with us, we don’t have to worry too much about conserving Mana and stamina.

"Gotta say, it’s pretty crazy how calm most of you seem to be," Remarked Jax in bemusement.

He’s supposed to be the best Enchanter in the world, and Appraisal definitely backs that up:

I think he’s mastered just about every existing Enchanter Spell, and his Mana Level is right at the peak of Ace level.

He had pale blonde hair that was slicked back, with the sides trimmed down, a neatly groomed, thick mustache, green eyes, a fair complexion, and he looked like he was in pretty decent shape.

He was wearing a dark blue cloak with a chain mail lining inside, and heavy leather armor underneath. And he was holding a wooden staff with a glowing pink Mana Orb at the end of it.

Now, then, before we begin, to complete the formation...

"<Emerge, Apostles of Lust, Envy, Sloth, Pride and Wrath: Luxuria, Invidia, Acedia, Superbia and Ira>, and <Emerge: Ai>," I chanted, before adding as they appeared around me, "Alright, guys, split into groups of three and line up on either side of the formation. We’ll be keeping our focus ahead, so I’ll be counting on you to watch our flanks."

"<Got it, Boss>!"

"<Yeah, you can count on us, Master>."

"<Yes, I shall aid you to the best of my ability, and ensure that the scourge of the Monsters is finally eradicated>."

"I’m liking the enthusiasm. Alright, everyone...let’s get going."
