Sinner System-Chapter 498: Calm Before the Storm (Part 3)
"I can’t believe she won every single game we played," I remarked in bemusement, staring up at the ceiling.
"Yeah, that was rough. It basically became a race to second place between the two of us, since she had an absolute vice-grip on first place every single time," Nodded Aria, letting out a sigh.
It’s around 9:30 PM, Cleo had headed home a few minutes ago, and Aria and I were left feeling pretty deflated after getting trounced by her in every game we played, so we were in bed, laying down listlessly.
"Well, let’s hope her winning streak persists for a while, we could definitely use it against the millions of Monsters that are about to be set loose soon."
"Yeah, that’s for sure. This has been a long week...and that fact that it’s basically been just the calm before the storm is, well, pretty fucking alarming," I sighed in response.
"Do you really think we can win this war, Kai? The odds aren’t exactly in our favor," Remarked Aria grimly.
"No question there, but the plan that the HUC came up with, I think that’s the best shot we’ve got. If we can pull it off, we win. Well, I suppose it’s not that simple...it’s going to be incredibly difficult, and next to impossible without any casualties.
Several million Monsters that will likely all attack at the same time, and then there’s the Demon Lord and the seven remaining Sentinels. Considering the sheer destruction that just three of them wrought, having to face more than double that number is going to be a nightmare."
"Yeah, and the Demon Lord’s power is on a level beyond anything we’ve ever faced before. Heck, even at our full power, yours, mine and Jaden’s Power Levels combined are still lower than his. And then there’s his Demonic Arts.
We don’t know what the exact effects are, but based on their names, it seems pretty clear that they’re probably overpowered as hell. We’ve got a decent amount of power between us and the other X-Aces, but whether it’ll actually be enough is the question," She surmised with a sigh.
"Let’s worry about that tomorrow, let’s take it easy for tonight...it may well be our last chance to do so, after all."
"It’s too bad we don’t have anywhere to run to. I hated it when you were stuck in the Monster world, but now, if there was any way for us to go there, I’d take it. Sure, is a primitive world and all, but at least there aren’t any Monsters there anymore."
"I liked Cleo’s space suggestion, we could just move to a different planet. Or, if space travel tech had hypothetically been developed far enough, we could’ve just blasted the Monsters with battleships or something from space. That certainly would’ve saved us a hell of a lot of trouble," I mused thoughtfully.
"If we do win this war, our conflict against the Monsters will be effectively over...if that happens, maybe space travel will be next," Replied Aria, a fascinated look on her face.
"Yeah...wonder if that’s the best idea, though? Do you think aliens exist?" I asked her.
"Hm...yeah, I think I do. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, Earth is just a tiny little grain of sand in the galaxy, to say nothing of the entire universe. It seems pretty ludicrous to think that this is the only planet in the entirety of the universe with life on it, don’t you think?" She pointed out, after taking a moment to mull it over.
"Oh, yeah, I definitely agree, aliens have to exist somewhere out there. That’s why I’m not so sure if venturing out into space is a smart move. What if there’s a super dangerous and hostile alien species that look to conquer other planets or whatever?"
"Good point, the last thing we want is to find ourselves in another war. Well, not to get ahead of ourselves, seeing as how we’re at quite a disadvantage in our current war," She replied with a wry smile.
"I suppose there’s nothing left to do but give it our all and see what happens. And if the worst ends up happening, well...at least this time, I can say I lived my life on my terms. Although, considering that it’s been less than five years since my reincarnation, maybe that’s not saying much," I chuckled sheepishly.
"That’s still pretty insane, the fact that you’ve only been in this era for such a short amount of time, in the grand scheme of things. Maybe we’ll get reincarnated together if we end up dying," She suggested with a smile. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"If it comes to that, let’s just hope we don’t end up being related or something, that’d make things pretty awkward."
"Heh, yeah, but I think I wouldn’t care. Oh, and we need to be the same genders too. Well, I don’t think I’d mind too much if I ended up as a guy, just so long as you’re still a guy too. But, then, if I was a guy, you probably wouldn’t be attracted to me, huh?"
"Yeah, can’t deny that, I’ve only ever felt attracted towards women."
"Hm...speaking of which, we should get started," She remarked, before rolling on top of me and meeting my gaze with a smirk.
"Ah, right, the lots of sex you wanted. Mhm, we should begin, we can’t stay up too late, after all," I nodded, before she closed her eyes and kissed me, caressing my lips between hers as I wrapped my arms around her.
"Mm...yeah, let’s make use of every second. I want to feel every inch of you on every inch of me," She whispered seductively, as she lightly nipped on my earlobe and traced her fingertips down the side of my neck, shivers running down my spine.
"Absolutely no objections here. I’m all yours," I uttered affectionately, as I stroked the back of her head.
"And I’m all yours, Kai. I love you."
"I love you too, Aria."
