Sinner System-Chapter 481: Glorified Coffins
Holy shit, that many? I mean, I knew it was a massive amount, but I figured maybe two or three thousand, max.
But this is about double that number. It makes for quite a stark difference, facing the Monsters in groups on each floor versus having all of them attack you in a relentless wave.
"Based on the number of floors of each of the seven thousand plus Dungeons, and the average number of Monsters per floor we determined based on the conquered Calamity Level Dungeons, our analysts have estimated that there are likely around sixteen to seventeen million Monsters in these Dungeons...well, minus the number that was killed today, of course.
Though, some of our analysts have suggested that we should prepare for numbers upwards of twenty million, since there could be a higher average number of weaker Monsters. There’s also Monsters like Queen Ants, Queen Taractects and Slimes to consider, those species that reproduce at rapid rates.
Of course, the vast majority of these fifteen to twenty million or so Monsters are almost certain to be lower-ranked Monsters. We’ve estimated two hundred to two fifty Calamity Levels and somewhere between ten to twelve thousand Critical Levels. Of the rest, around sixty percent are estimated to be Low Levels, thirty percent Mid Levels and ten percent High Levels."
"Yeah, that’s, uh...that’s real bad. You’d need two or three Aces to deal with Calamity Levels, but if those estimates are right, there are around five times as many Calamity Level Monsters as there are Aces," Pointed out Aarav grimly.
"I can take multiple Calamity Levels by myself, maybe around five at the same time, at most? And I’d say at least a couple more of us should be capable of that too, but it’s just not going to be enough," I added with a frown.
"Mhm, I agree. As things stand, even if we do manage to defeat the Demon Lord and the seven Sentinels in the Final Dungeon, humanity will be driven to extinction regardless, or near-extinction at best," Jaden nodded in agreement.
"If we had a safe place to evacuate all the civilians, then it wouldn’t really matter. The Sanctuaries may get destroyed, but so long as no one dies, we can just rebuild," Aria sighed wistfully.
Yeah, if we had a place like that to evacuate everyone to, we probably would’ve used it already.
"I’m almost certain that the Demon Lord brought the entirely of his forces to this world...which would make their world the ideal place to retreat to. But we have no way of getting there."
"Yeah, after you ended up there, we did have our research departments try to find a way to open a rift or portal into that world, but we simply don’t have the technology to pull that off."
"U-Um, what...what about space?" Chimed in Cleo, as she peeked over my shoulder. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Unfortunately, no. Since we’ve been at war against the Monsters for so long, space travel was rather low on our list of priorities, we haven’t made any advancements in that field since the era before the Monsters showed up."
Seems like a missed opportunity...I mean, wasn’t fleeing into space an option that should’ve been considered to escape the Monsters, especially when humanity was on the brink of extinction before the Sanctuaries were established?
"At the risk of getting all your hopes up...Sanctuary Eta has made some encouraging progress with a defensive barrier to place around the Sanctuaries. However, while our research team is working tirelessly, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be able to finish it by the end of the week."
"Well, that’s something, at least."
"We also have the underground shelters in the Sanctuaries, we’ve never actually used them before, though. But, frankly, if the Monsters do break through the Sanctuaries, those shelters will be nothing more than glorified coffins."
Hm...yeah, this isn’t really going anywhere. Is there really no solution here?
"I suppose we’ll just have to hope that someone comes up with a brilliant idea before the end of the week, huh? We have until the 13th before the Dungeons reach their Stampede points," Remarked Jaden with a grimace.
"Yeah, and until then, all we can really do is conquer as many Calamity Level Dungeons as possible," Added Iseul, as she let out a sigh.
"Hm...while these Dungeons are definitely way tougher than we’re used to, we can clear them much, much faster than usual. Since the Monsters come to us, the time it takes to travel through the Dungeon is all but negated, we just start fighting the instant we enter. If we count Kai’s summons and Cleo, we have nine fighters at X-Ace level. If we split up into three groups of three, we should be able to handle these Calamity Level Dungeons," Suggested Aria thoughtfully.
Wait, nine?
Let’s see, there’s me, her, Cleo, Jaden, Iseul and Aarav, that’s six, plus Ira and Acedia, which makes eight. Who’s the ninth?
<Ahem>
Huh?
Oh, right, you’re at X-Ace level too. My bad, guess I overlooked you.
<It’s fine>
<I’m well aware that at my current level, my capabilities don’t quite match my stats>
Yeah, I’d say you’re right at the threshold between Ace and X-Ace at your current skill level. Well...this is a good chance to improve.
<I suppose so>
Let’s see, the others took about an hour to two hours to clear their Dungeons, while I took about half an hour.
But, to be fair, I had the help of Ai and all my Apostles except Ira and Acedia, plus Cleo fought the Dungeon Boss.
"Hey, that’s a pretty good idea. We could probably clear a Calamity Level Dungeon in about an hour with groups of three X-Ace level fighters. Okay, so, that’s twenty-four per team, which makes seventy-two per day. Woah, we could conquer all the Calamity Level Dungeons in, like, three days!" Exclaimed Jaden excitedly.
"Come on, man," Sighed Aarav in bemusement.
"Yeah, there’s no way in hell any of us are fighting at that intensity for three days straight," Pointed out Iseul in exasperation.
"Oh. Right..."
