Chapter 442: Chapter 442: Relent

"They’re in here, sir."

"Cool, thanks for showing me the way," I nodded, before opening the door and stepping inside.

There were two people in the room, a man and a young woman, both glancing up as I entered, before I used Appraisal on each of them. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

The woman’s the Detector, she’s a couple of years older than I am. As for the guy:

One of the currently active Arcane Ace Hunters, Petrus Le Roux. I don’t know much about him, but I have heard of him. He’s the strongest and most popular Hunter in Sanctuary Epsilon, if I’m not mistaken.

He had medium-long, wavy dark blonde hair, bright red eyes, a fair complexion with a heavily scruffy face, and a strong, muscular build.

He wore silver cross earrings pierced in his earlobes, with a white, hooded cloak that draped halfway down his calves, over a black shirt, trousers and boots.

He had heavily armored gauntlets on his arms, with thick, sharp spikes over the knuckles, and Mana Orbs with a dark, shadowy hue embedded in the spots on the gauntlets over the back of his hands.

His Aura was of a similar hue to the Mana Orbs, it doesn’t look too different to the energy of Devour. It isn’t quite as dark as Demon Auras, it was closer to a really dark gray than outright black, like a thick smoke.

Based on his Aura and Power Level, he’s just about at the peak of Ace Hunters, pretty much as strong as you can get without crossing into X-Ace territory.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kaivel Intrix. My name is Petrus Le Roux, an Ace Hunter here in Sanctuary Epsilon, and like you, an Arcane Hunter," He introduced himself in a formal, polite tone, as he gave me an elegant, respectful bow of his head.

He certainly carries himself with dignity, he’s got an air of quiet confidence about him.

"Yeah, I know who you are. And likewise, it’s nice to meet you," I nodded politely.

"Um, and I’m Charlize Botha. I’m a big fan, it’s so great to meet you," Spoke up the Detector with a giddy smile.

She had light blonde hair, blue eyes, a pale complexion and a slender figure. She’s a K-Ranked Detector, though her physical stats are on the lower side, even for a Support Mage.

Well, it’s fine, if I end up in a situation where I’d need help from the back line, I’m probably fucked either way.

Now, then...

"Sorry to cut the pleasantries short, but let’s address the elephant in the room. When I agreed to take care of this Dungeon, I said that I’d do it by myself with my summons, and would only need a Detector. But I’ve been told that you’re insistent on joining the raid as well, Mr Le Roux," I remarked, as I glanced at him.

"Please, just call me Petrus. And yes, that’s true. I know I’m not strong enough to take on a Calamity Level Dungeon by myself, and I certainly won’t delude myself into thinking that I can. Since Sanctuary Epsilon doesn’t have any X-Aces, it was inevitable that we’d need to request back up from one of the other Sanctuaries.

I accept that, but even so...as the strongest Hunter in Sanctuary Epsilon, I have responsibilities to bear. At the very least, this experience is sure to be valuable going forward. There may well come a situation where we won’t have the luxury of requesting back up. So, please, I implore you to allow me to join you. If nothing else, I can assure you that I won’t get in your way," He stated, as he met my gaze with a determined gleam in his eyes.

Yeah, he definitely seems pretty dead-set on this. It isn’t worth the trouble arguing and trying to convince him to change his mind, and I can’t deny that he does make some good points, so...

"Fine, do as you please. But I’m not going to be responsible for your safety, and if you do end up getting in my way, I’ll have to insist that you leave. If you agree to those terms, you can go ahead and join the raid," I relented with a sigh.

"Thank you, I truly appreciate it. Rest assured, you won’t regret this," He declared with a smile.

"Yeah, we’ll see. Alright, we still have some time, so let me know what exactly you’re capable of, and what role you intend to play," I replied, as I took a seat on a couch in the room.

"Actually, I think it’d be best if you decided that. I have no intention of overstepping and asking you to adjust your plans to revolve around me. Instead, just fit me into your plans. I’m strongest at close-range, but I’m also perfectly capable with ranged attacks," He informed me.

"In that case, stick to the mid-line and back up my summons and I."

Invidia can fight at long-range since he’s got Negative Energy Generation, but he’s definitely more effective at close-range. The same goes for Invidia, and to a lesser extent, Luxuria too. Superbia pretty much specializes in close-range, and Ai is the same.

So, yeah, I’ve already got an excess of front-line fighters, I’ll probably need to rotate a couple of them between the mid and front lines to keep things from getting too cramped up front.

"Understood, you can leave it to me," Petrus nodded with a smile.

"Alright, cool. Let’s discuss a few more specifics and fine-tune our strategy in the time we’ve got left before we need to head out."
