Sinner System-Chapter 433: Memorable
"So, how’d it go? You manage to get her home okay?"
"Yeah, she was struggling but somehow managed to stay conscious long enough," Aria nodded, before flopping onto the bed beside me and snuggling up.
I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her closer towards me, giving her a kiss on the side of the head.
"That’s good. We’ll pick up where we left off in a day or two, then," I suggested thoughtfully.
"Yeah, sounds good. What did you think, by the way? I know it didn’t last very long, but I thought she put on a pretty impressive showing," She responded with a smile.
"Mhm, definitely. She’s got room for improvement, but she’s at an impressively high level considering her lack of experience," I nodded in agreement.
"I was thinking the same thing. Though, her inexperience did show at the end there...she opted to use lightning as a defense after I blinded her, even though she already knew I’ve got Elemental Immunity," She pointed out.
"Yeah, that’s true. Speaking of Elemental Immunity, I just realized, it kinda only applies to fire, lightning and ice. With the other elements, earth inflicts physical damage, even if constructed Magically, and Elemental Immunity doesn’t block physical damage.
The same goes for wind too...Wind Magic basically generates force through the air, the wind itself doesn’t have any real effect. As for water, well...if Elemental Immunity blocked water, you’d never be able to wash yourself.
You get burnt if you touch fire, electrocuted if you touch lightning, and touching ice also has a physical effect. But nothing happens if you touch dirt, water or air, not in the same way, at least. So, Elemental Immunity doesn’t repel the elements, it just negates the phenomenon that affect you," I surmised in fascination.
"Huh, I’ve never really put much thought into it, if I’m being honest. That is interesting, though...oh, even though heat and flames don’t affect me, whenever I bleed while using Blaze Ignition, whatever blood spills out before I regenerate ends up evaporating," She responded curiously.
"Good point...in theory, it shouldn’t. Is it only your skin that the passive resistance Skill applies to? Like, does your skin basically work as insulation against heat, electricity and the cold? But, then, your hair doesn’t get burned either. Wonder if Ai has the answers?" I mused, prompting her.
<No, you’ve pretty much covered everything about that Skill that I’ve got in my information reserves>
<I don’t have any additional details to add about that Skill>
"Well, that’s that, I guess. I suppose we might as well just chalk it up to Magic and move past it," Shrugged Aria with a wry smile.
"Yeah, guess so. Oh, by the way, before you began sparring against Cleo, you mentioned that you’re working on something in secret. Mind telling me what it is?" I inquired curiously.
"Heh, nope. You’ll find out sooner or later...well, maybe. It’s been really tough, my progress with it has been super slow. That’s actually part of the reason why I haven’t revealed it yet, since there’s a decent chance that it might end up not working out," She replied sheepishly.
"Ah, gotcha. I’ll be cheering you on, hope it works out, whatever it is. Oh, where have you been working on it?"
"Outside the Sanctuary. I head out there for a couple of hours every few days or so, just to be safe. Definitely wasn’t going to do it at home, and didn’t want to damage the Guild building either. I did consider using the training field, but I figured it wouldn’t be fair to hog it constantly."
"Yeah, fair enough."
"Oh, that’s right...it kinda slipped my mind, but I guess it’s now been over two years since we graduated and became Hunters," Realized Aria thoughtfully.
"Huh, yeah...around this time two years ago, we’d just graduated. And I guess it’s been around two and half years since we started talking and became friends. So much has happened since then, it’s pretty crazy...it honestly feels like a lot longer than just two years," I responded in bemusement.
"Yeah, in hindsight, time’s really flown. What would you say is the most memorable thing that happened during the last two years?" She asked me.
"Hm, good question. If we’re talking best memories, then it’s between the day we confessed to each other and the day we reunited after I returned from the Monster world. My last birthday is definitely up there too, that was an amazing day," I smiled, as I kissed the tip of her nose.
"Heh, just you wait, I’ll make sure to top it this year," She declared smugly.
"Guess I’ve got something to look forward to."
"Mhm, you sure do."
"What about you? What are your standout memories?" I inquired curiously.
"Pretty much the same, actually. Though, I’d also add both my birthdays that you celebrated with me, I had such a blast both times. Oh, and the first time we had sex, that too," She grinned, before teasingly pressing her thigh between my legs.
"Yup, that’s definitely another god-tier memory too. Okay, what about memories that don’t involve me?" I laughed in response.
"Hey, all the memories you mentioned involved me too, you know, you didn’t mention any that didn’t."
"I mean, can you blame me? You’re so fucking cute, so that’s only natural," I smiled, as I squeezed and pulled her cheeks.
"Mmm...honestly, I’m trying to think, but I just keep thinking of stuff with you. I guess...maybe graduating and becoming a Hunter? Or maybe when I was officially promoted to Ace Rank? I don’t know, nothing really comes close to any of my memories with you," She shook her head after mulling it over for a bit.
"Yeah, I’m drawing a blank here too. I mean, I was pretty stoked when I maxed out my Power Level, but the joy I felt then was nothing compared to what I feel when I’m around you," I replied, before adding with a wry smile, "Okay, that came out cheesier than I intended, but that doesn’t change the fact that I meant every word. I love you, Aria."
"I love you too, Kai."
