Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 800 - 797: Removing Memories

There were several ways Corey could have dealt with the artifact in the archway.

He could have subtly destroyed it, and he could have even done nothing, completely believing in the fact that his status as a Demi-Paragon would be too much for the artifact to process, he could have even used only Breath of Omniscience to hide his aura and make the artifact believe that there were three individuals in the carriage, or... he could have used the power of the void to even hide in space.

There were other methods Corey could have used, and with how powerful his mind was, he had close to a hundred methods.

However, a lot of these methods had their pros and cons, and could eventually lead to other annoying situations or were just annoying for Corey to use them.

At the end of the day, he decided to use his Breath of Omniscience to completely hide his presence.

Not only that, he also placed an illusion over the artifact in case anything happened to it so that nobody would see it.

To his surprise, something he was hoping not to happen, happened.

The artifact did not give out a green light, but a yellow light.

A yellow light was not as bad as a red light, but it was still a bad sign, and Corey was stunned as to why the artifact gave off a yellow light even after using Breath of Omniscience to hide his presence.

However, after he observed and analyzed the artifact once again, he saw something he had ignored when he was studying the artifact.

The artifact in the archway had a connection with the identification device of the guards, and when Corey noticed this connection, he almost slapped his forehead at his foolishness for ignoring and overlooking such a tiny yet important detail.

Because he used Breath of Omniscience to completely hide his presence, the artifact was not able to sense him, and this was the problem.

The identification device had registered that five individuals were going to enter the city- Jin, Chloe, Ava, Sean the driver, and Corey.

However, once the artifact sensed four people, not five, it knew that something was wrong and the yellow light was the sign that something was wrong.

’The artifact turns red once a non-reigstered non-human is trying to pass through it, but it turns yellow when it notices a problem or inconsistency like this.’

’The person that created this artifact is a genius.’

This were Corey’s thoughts as he observed and analyzed the artifact as the carriage passed through it.

He saw the artifact trying to subtly send a warning signal to not only the guards, but to several locations in Serithal.

’Luckily I was not arrogant and was careful, or I won’t have placed an illusion over the artifact.’

As Corey had this thought, he formed a lightning rune close to the artifact and sent out a hair-like strand of white lightning which then split into several strands of lightning, and entered the artifact.

The signals that the artifact was about to give out was disrupted due to the lightning bolts, and the artifact no longer released any light.

Through Infinite Mirage, what everybody could see was the artifact releasing a green light, meanwhile, it was not releasing any light.

’The artifact would restore itself back to normal in a few seconds, so that’s not a problem.’

’A little illusion here and there, a little lightning rune manipulation here and there, and a brief holding of the breath is enough to prevent any future annoyances.’

’Time to explore this city.’

Corey smiled faintly, but then he recalled something.

’Oh... And a little bit of tweaking in one’s memories too.’

Corey thought as he recalled removing the guard’s memories of his face, aura, and voice when he shook his hands using Cognitum Erasure.

’Hmm.’ Corey turned and looked at Jin, Chloe, and Ava, who also looked back at him with curious expressions.

Before they could speak, he spoke.

"I’ll be leaving. Thanks for your hospitality."

Chloe and Ava widened their eyes in disbelief and refusal, meanwhile, Jin was taken aback for a second.

"Won’t you like to spend a day at the Twin Coins Merchant Guild? We’ll surely give you a hospitable environment to rest along with some other benefits."

Corey looked at Jin for a few seconds, and then he smiled faintly, "Aren’t you just a guard? I’m sure you don’t have the authority to do something like that."

Jin was stunned, "Well- I- I..."

"Don’t worry. I have somewhere I have to be, so I cannot accept your invitation to your merchant guild."

"Oh..."

Jin looked a little bit crestfallen after hearing Corey’s thoughts, and then he nodded while knocking on the carriage wall behind him, signaling for Sean to stop the carriage.

"Alright. No problem. I understand."

Corey nodded with a light smile, and then he outstretched his hand.

"It was nice meeting you."

Jin looked at Corey’s hand, and then he shook it.

"And you too, Mr. Anon."

Corey smiled, and then he looked at Chloe and Ava who were visibly sad at his words.

"Ladies."

Corey said with a smile while putting his hand out for a handshake.

Chloe smiled sadly as she shook his hand, "Goodbye. I hope we get to see someday."

"Hmm." Corey nodded slightly with a soft hum.

"Please don’t forget about us, and come visit us at the Twin Merchant Guild whenever you’re free." Ava said with an unwilling tone, and her eyes threatening to spill out tears.

"Hmhm." Corey nodded while shaking Ava’s hand.

Without saying anything else, he stepped out of the carriage, and when he passed the driver- Sean, he patted his back and nodded at him with a light smile.

Sean nodded back, and then the carriage continued moving.

Corey’s smile slowly faded as the distance between him and the carriage increased, and then he stroked his hair to the back.

’Now that I’ve erased their memories of me, let’s go and get registered... Or... Let me try and look for a face altering skill crystal or skill scroll.’

’Unfortunately, I didn’t buy one before I left the Underworld and I don’t have the ability to create a face altering or body altering skill.’

’Hopefully, I find something.’
