Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 66: Searching for More
Chapter 66: Searching for More
Jax turned around to return to the room, but it wasn’t there anymore. Now that he had come out, the boss’s room was gone.
He fell back down, slowly realizing that his one safe spot to spend the day had disappeared. All because his mood had been ruined by that man before. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"I didn’t even get to see if any of them wore a useful piece of equipment," Jax whispered to himself, feeling down at the moment. He turned around and picked up his axe, wondering what he was going to do now.
Since his resting place had disappeared, his first thought was to quickly find another one. But upon taking a moment to think for himself, Jax came to understand that it was the wrong thing to do.
Because he had taken a sleep-depriving potion, it would keep him awake for many hours still. After that, he would crash out so much that it was unlikely he would have the time to search for the remaining bosses at all.
’Should I just accept the 1-star ticket I have and leave?’ he wondered. The idea of leaving was quite tempting, but Jax knew with 2 days remaining, he had to give it his all.
’What I really need to do is find another boss room as soon as I can,’ he thought. At that point, he could finally rest. ’Since the potion’s backlash will come sooner than that, I don’t even have as much time as I should have.’
Jax frowned rather openly at that point. The damn man he had killed had made things so much worse for him now.
What was he supposed to do now? Go searching for a boss to kill, or wait around and absorb some Navi?
He wasn’t so low that he needed to absorb any immediately, so Jax decided to search for a boss room as soon as he could. This time around, he didn’t just walk and instead ran around the maze, searching for bosses.
The unending maze was just so massive that Jax couldn’t find anything for an entire hour even after running around. When he eventually did find another boss room, it turned out to be a 1-star boss room.
So, he continued searching for others, since this was not what he wanted.
More hours passed at which point Jax began growing tired of searching. He had found 2 more bosses, but both of them were once again a 1-star boss room.
He hadn’t been using Navi in order to conserve it for the battle, so without his Body Fortification skill, he had truly grown quite tired from all the running around.
Jax met with a few people along the way, but thankfully none of them seemed to want to fight him at all. Each person was busy on their own, needing to find a boss before the time ran out.
Jax felt the heaviness in his eyelids slowly return. The potion he drank earlier was beginning to wear off his body. Soon, he would lose his reflexes too.
That would be a dangerous situation to be in.
’I still have time,’ Jax thought and continued searching for the bosses. The rooms became harder to find as time went on, and as the hours passed, Jax got closer and closer to giving up.
His sleep-deprived body was starting to show the actual signs of his lack of sleep as well at this point now that the potion’s effects were almost all gone.
Jax wanted to lay down on the grass and fall asleep right there, without a care in the world. But he had thankfully enough wits to know how stupid a thought that was.
The only thing he could do at this point was give up and use his ticket to leave the maze.
Only, fate seemed to have a twisted idea in mind for him.
As Jax was close to crashing out, he finally found another boss room. And this one had a blue ticket floating in the air, showing not one, not two, but three glowing stars within it.
Jax’s eyes went wide at the sight of that thing. ’A 3-star ticket!’
That was the rarest thing in the maze, considering that many believed 4-star and 5-star tickets to not exist at all.
As he stepped closer to look at it, something prompted up before him with information.
<You are about to enter another Monster Boss Room>
<Would you like to exchange your existing ’1-star Ticket’ for access to the room?>
"I..." Jax wasn’t sure what he was to do here. With a 3-star ticket, he was sure he would have a hefty advantage in the next carriage. But with his current sleep-deprived state, could he really beat a beast that was a 3-star boss?
That too all alone.
Jax scratched his head, trying to determine what the correct choice here was. However, even considering all the pros and cons was starting to get difficult at that point. His mind could barely stay focused on anything at all.
Sleep was catching up to him.
’I should give up on it,’ Jax thought, but that thought disappeared quickly when he listened to his heart instead.
Such an opportunity did not come so often that he could afford to give up on this chance. Besides, he was not doing this for himself. If he was, he would have come after the trial reset.
Instead, he had to come as soon as he could because he was low on time.
There was someone he needed to save, and while he didn’t know more, he could imagine that there wasn’t much time for him to get his wish fulfilled. Jax didn’t want to think about it, but the possibility that the person he wanted to save was already dead was quite high.
The Navigator could do many things according to Gemma, but even he could not bring someone back from the dead.
As a result, Jax needed to hurry as much as he could, and he needed to use every advantage he could get throughout his time in the train to save the person as quickly as he could.
The choice was obvious when he considered all of that.
So, Jax stepped into the boss’s room.
