Silent Witch-I Heard There Was A Prophecy That I’d Die At Eight 2
"AWIGHT, WETS GO!"
What she wanted to say: Alright, let's go!
Though treated like a nuisance, Thenesis received regular meals morning and night, and she had the minimum attire befitting a duke's daughter. Even though her father had given up on her, her birth had been reported to the royal court, so he couldn't simply pretend she didn't exist…. At least, on the surface.
However, whenever she mentioned wanting a stuffed animal or picture book to the apprentice trio, who would then relay the request to the butler or head maid, nothing ever came of it. Perhaps her father, Ressel, considered such expenses unnecessary. Or perhaps the requests were simply ignored to avoid bothering her mother, Theresa, who was constantly grieving. Whatever the reason, the fact remained Thenesis was never given what she asked for.
As a result, while Thenesis wore a simple silk dress, a luxury item that would be considered plain by other duke's daughters, it was the bare minimum expected of a duke's daughter. She tore the silk dress, which would have cost an ordinary person's entire year's wages, to shreds. Just now.
What on earth is going on? you might ask.
Well, based on the apprentice trio's statements about her, she had come to the skewed conclusion that she wouldn't die until she turned eight, no matter what she did. With this in mind, she decided to do whatever she pleased or wanted. It's astonishing that she grasped the concept of dying at three years old, and even more bizarre that she twisted the prophecy to convince herself she was invincible until eight.
Although completely unaware of it herself, she had some memories of a past life.
Because she was unaware, her past life memories remained faint and largely useless. They merely fueled her vague understanding of death and her penchant for twisted logic, all without her conscious realization.
Her memories of her previous life felt slightly off, but it was nothing more than a fleeting sense of unease, something she and those around her failed to notice. That was the reality.
So, with this unconventional idea in mind, she reasoned that she could survive until she turned eight. She decided to make the most of it by doing everything she wanted to do before then.
So, she thought about what she wanted to do.
She began a game of climbing the small steps next to her bed and leaping onto the fluffy bedding, thoroughly enjoying the plush comfort.
The apprentice trio stood frozen, their mouths agape. Do children really do things like this? they wondered in astonishment. Ada, the apprentice maid, snapped out of her daze and frantically called out to Thenesis,
"M-My lady, that's dangerous! You could get hurt!"
Ada's reprimand was loud, startling even herself. She was flustered, having never spoken so harshly or raised her voice like that before.
Oblivious to Ada's scolding, Thenesis brushed it off like a breeze and leaped off the bed with another grand jump. While a three-year-old's "grand jump" was barely a hop, Ada's loud voice snapped Leo, the apprentice attendant, and Theo, the apprentice guard, out of their daze. Fearing Thenesis might twist her ankle, they frantically reached out and caught her.
Having successfully caught the small child, the two boys exhaled in relief simultaneously. Thenesis, however, erupted into gleeful giggles, her entire body radiating joy… which she expressed by squirming wildly in their arms.
The two boys panicked, trying not to drop her. Amidst the commotion, a tearing sound ripped through the air. Ada, who had been trying to calm the squirming Thenesis, and the two boys, desperately trying to keep the little girl from falling, traced the sound to its source. Their blood ran cold when they saw the tear in Thenesis's dress.
