Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1080. Lily?
Chapter 1080. Lily?
I'm Dawn One?
Scenes from a distant memory seemed to surface from the depths of Lily's mind.
She was back to the day she was born. She saw herself being surrounded by scientists in white coats. They cheered and embraced each other in joy at her birth.
She recalled her infant-like self. Naive as she was, she listened to the scientists' teachings about her purpose and her greatness.
She also remembered the years of visits and inspection and periodic psychological assessments. Year after year, without fail. Until they no longer appeared.
You always told me I'm humanity's new hope...Then why did all of you disappear? Am I really humanity's hope?
Lily remembered how she hovered in solitude and loneliness above the empty Newbound City. Silence was her only companion as she waited for an extended period of time.
She missed those people who created her. She really longed for their presence.
However, they were gone—all of them.
She wanted to leave Newbound City to search for them. Yet, there was nothing she could do. The Foundation had restricted her movement. Her only mission was to cast her light over Newbound City for the rest of time.
And so she was stuck in her spot for years beyond counting. Until one day... something stirred in the crater in the distance.
Something's ascending from the crater. How odd. Huh... a few heavily wounded people. One of time only has a single arm left. What are they here for? They don't seem to be part of the Foundation.
The man with only one arm climbed to the rooftop of one of the skyscrapers. And for some unknown reason, the moment he laid his eyes on her, he collapsed onto the ground, his face painted with agony.
It was the past Captain Charles, Lily's Charles, the Captain Charles who believed that he had found the surface world.
Realization suddenly dawned upon "Lily". She wasn't Lily. She was Dawn One. When they merged, it was inevitable that some memories and identities would end up getting distorted and twisted.
As Dawn One flipped through Lily's memories, she felt a strong sense of injustice.
Why was Lily's short life filled with so many events? Unlike herself, even with her long lifespan, she spent every second of it suspended in the sky like a glorified light bulb.
A tidal wave of emotion surged through Dawn One. She didn't want that mundane life of boredom. She wanted Lily's life, her memories, her identity, and her purpose.
"No! I'm not Dawn One! I'm Lily!!"
"No! I'm not Dawn One! I'm Lily!!"
Pop!
At that moment, both voices suddenly fused into a single unison. And in that instant, Dawn One became Lily.
As the voice faded, Lily suddenly felt a surge of strength. Even though she no longer had limbs, she could feel power coursing through her.
Then she realized that she had gained an understanding of how to make use of this new body of hers.
It was a strange feeling, yet it came naturally, like how a newborn knew how to move its arms and legs.
A thought popped up in her mind. She wanted to stretch, and so Lily did.
The blinding light that coiled around her like a sleeping dragon seemed to be freed from their restraints as they burst outward in all directions.
Every inch illuminated by the light became part of Lily’s sight. Each ray that radiated from her body acted as her eyes—wherever the light touched, she could see.
Sunlight pierced the waters; she could see the creatures lying in the depths before they were forced to slither away into deeper darkness.
Sunlight swept across the rocky overhead dome; every crevice was mapped into her mind.
Sunlight soared past a volcanic island; she saw the horror on the islanders' faces and the despair in their eyes.
All of a sudden, a warning bell rang in Lily as she enjoyed her stretch and comfort.
Something was wrong! She couldn't do this! If she were to let her light run wild to illuminate the entire Subterranean Sea, then the survivors of the previous Death Light crisis would suffer another huge blow.
Above her, the rocky ceiling swiftly crumbled and gave way. A section nearly the size of an island came crashing down upon her.
Using her will, Lily halted the yellow-brown rock in mid-air before bending and moulding them. Chunks twisted and curved inward until they enclosed her in a protective sphere and also narrowed her vision to the minimum.
Tiny flecks of light peeked through from between the seams. At least she would still have some vision of the world around her.
"Mr. Charles, I think we succeeded. With this strength, I should be able to help you, right?"
"Mr. Charles, I think we succeeded. With this strength, I should be able to help you, right?"
Lily's joy was clearly being conveyed to the island beneath her.
With a flash of white light, a portion of Charles' power was transferred to the island. His temporary body seemed to be in an unstable condition as distorted growths branched off like warped bark.
Various sensory organs sprouted out of the ground like plants and curled upward at Lily.
"How are you feeling now?" Charles asked.
"Hmm... I don't know how to describe this feeling. I find it hard to put it into words. I'm just glad that I can still control my will."
"Hmm... I don't know how to describe this feeling. I find it hard to put it into words. I'm just glad that I can still control my will."
"I see," Charles answered. "It seems that I made the right choice of selecting the five Dawn Spectres to fuse with you. Without any consciousness, they are the perfect fit to be your vessel.
"Now, come into the sea. Let me test the limits of your true power."
The massive, glowing stone sun in the air crashed heavily into the water. Tidal waves rippled around it and surged outward in all directions.
Even within the sea, Lily was still exceptionally radiant. Fortunately, the darkness of the waters restrained its rays from killing the humans in other parts of the Subterranean Sea.
The battle between two Divinities was bound to cause a huge commotion and impact. It didn't take long before the waters started to stir and churn. Time rifts and space rifts began to materialize all around.

The island that had just ascended to the sea's surface quaked violently. It looked as though it would sink to the bottom of the ocean again.
When Charles finally resurfaced above the waters, a hint of satisfaction glimmered in his thousands of eyes.
"Not bad. At least you're pretty strong."
"Really? That's great!" Lily replied. "Then send me back to my original plane now! I can't wait to see him again!"
"Really? That's great!" Lily replied. "Then send me back to my original plane now! I can't wait to see him again!"
As Lily spoke, a trace of her sunlight shone upon a floating corpse on the seawater.
His identity was unmistakable due to the large head on his back, resembling a tortoise shell. He was one of the highly intelligent human beings who had gone through forced evolution under Charles' power.
It seemed like the minor scuffle between Lily and Charles earlier had caused the death of this unlucky fellow. The surging tidal waves had dragged him into the ocean depths.
Sunlight, a spectrum of seven colors, shot out of the seams in Lily's stone shell. Like a blanket of rainbow, it covered the man, and his body started to glow.
Soon, the man's engorged eyes snapped open, and he looked around in surprise. His voice couldn't mask his disbelief as he questioned, "I was actually revived?!"
Clearly, Lily was very satisfied with this newly acquired power of hers.
"Mr. Charles, look! I can bring back the dead! Perhaps we should revive everyone buried in Hope Island's cemetery."
"Mr. Charles, look! I can bring back the dead! Perhaps we should revive everyone buried in Hope Island's cemetery."
However, Charles' next reaction was beyond Lily's expectation.
A colossal, tower-sized, bloodied tentacle erupted from the earth and coiled tightly around Lily's outer shell like an iron chain.
"Who are you?!" Charles roared.
"What are you talking about? I'm Lily."
"You're Lily? Or do you believe that you're Lily?"
