Chapter 384: Chapter 384: Sweet Little Moments at the Nighttime Party

This is the shortest flag-lifting trip so far, and it’s not even noon.

Yu Xia waved a little flag as she passed by the pursuers, sincerely inviting them to join their fun.

"What’s so good about a working lunch? Come have a seafood feast with us. After all, it ended so early, you must be bored."

The pursuers were very tempted and agreed without a second thought.

So the group hurried back to the beach with great excitement, waiting for the disheartened director to announce the results, before reaching out to ask for things.

"Quick, quick, where’s the seafood and the tools?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Are there any LED strips? Having lights in the evening would definitely set the mood!"

"Are there any big prawns? I can handle big prawns!"

"Spices, spices! Spices are the most important!"

The cameras were still rolling, almost like an additional live broadcast of a guest dinner party; the director went from helpless to participating, happily calling on a few staff members to set up cameras for filming.

Tan’s husband even went to request a case of alcoholic beverages, courtesy of the show’s sponsors, making everyone even more excited.

The beach was lively, filled with laughter and joy.

Yu Xia learned how to wash clams from Tan, soaking at the water’s edge, occasionally being amused by what Lan Hui said.

Fang Yuanzhou, not giving up, dragged a fishing net into the water again, and after two tries finally caught a fish.

Yu Xia stepped into the water to take a look. The fish was only palm-sized, not enough for one person.

"You should just release it. It’s better if the show gives you a fish."

Fang Yuanzhou grinned and said, "Sure," and indeed let the fish go.

The little fish, saved from the jaws of death, darted away as soon as it hit the water, swishing past Yu Xia’s calf. Its tail startled her into kicking her foot out of the water.

"Its tail slapped me!"

Xie Qingci heard her voice and immediately turned to look.

Under the sunlight, that foot, splattered with tiny water droplets, was so dazzlingly white, with toes curled like a cat’s paw, and the ankle was slender and pale.

In an instant, the foot was back in the water as Yu Xia walked ashore, sitting down and scratching her calf with her foot raised.

"That fish is ungrateful."

Lan Hui said something, even reaching out to touch her.

Xie Qingci squatted down beside her.

"What’s wrong?"

"Huh?" Yu Xia turned to look at him. "Nothing much, earlier Fang Yuanzhou released a fish and it swam past my leg."

"Oh."

He absentmindedly responded, and after a brief silence, he joined them in cleaning clams from the bucket, pointing to her foot, saying, "Why don’t I do it? Yu Xia, your foot has been soaking for too long, that’s not good."

Lan Hui and Tan both turned to look at him.

Lan Hui: This man knows what he’s doing.

Tan: Oh, look who’s caring.

"Yu Xia, you should put on your shoes. It’s not good to soak for too long."

Yu Xia studied Xie Qingci’s expression, then stood up, brushing sand off her pants.

"That works, thank you, little brother."

She went back to put on her shoes and socks and bumped into Song Xi coming out of the tent.

Song Xi opened his mouth to speak, but she ignored him, walking past him without a glance.

The words "Yu Xia" didn’t even leave his lips. He swallowed, self-deprecatingly, and walked outside.

Amidst the laughter and cheer, the timeline moved to the evening.

The barbecue setup was ready, large bags of seafood were being grilled, spices sprinkled, the aroma was mouthwatering.

LED strips on the tents blinked rhythmically, the team played music from drones, and the pursuers handed out grass skirts to everyone for dancing, adding to the atmosphere.

Fang Yuanzhou, living by the sea, was expert at grilling seafood. Yu Xia wore disposable gloves to peel and eat shrimp, while waiting by the pot for the clam soup.

Lan Hui stayed with her the entire time, they worked well together; Yu Xia peeled shrimp for her, and she fed her drinks.

It was as comfortable as if they were sharing a royal meal, feeding each other, in a playful scene.

Xie Qingci, of course, was involved too—he was in charge of the clam soup, which, to put it bluntly, made him an outsider.

Occasionally, out of the five shrimp Yu Xia peeled, he might get one, usually the one Yu Xia had messed up.

When the clam soup was finally ready, Xie Qingci served a bowl just for her, sent Lan Hui to get other bowls, and then quietly said to her:

"For as many shrimp as you peeled for Lan Hui, you owe me as many clams."

Yu Xia raised an eyebrow at him, her face flushed from the alcohol, looking exceedingly beautiful, exuding a lazy charm.

"Clams can be eaten as is, with chopsticks, no peeling necessary."

"I don’t care," Xie Qingci held up her wrist, lightly brushing her fingers, hidden from view of others.

"I’m starving."

Judging by his eyes, this hunger likely had a double meaning.

Yu Xia, amused, wiggled her fingers at his lips, watching his eyes deepen before quickly slipping a piece of shrimp into his mouth.

When Lan Hui returned, she saw Yu Xia picking clams out one by one, eating one herself and feeding one to Xie Qingci.

The remaining large shrimp also ended up in Xie Qingci’s mouth.

Lan Hui immediately gave the pair a meaningful look.

There was definitely something going on.

Since that was the case, it was best not to disturb them, so Lan Hui took a bowl of clam soup to the lonely and pitiful Song Xi and gave him two shrimp.

Watching her retreating figure, Yu Xia nudged Xie Qingci with her chin and said, "Look, you’ve scared everyone away."

Xie Qingci, chewing on clams, was not concerned with unrelated people, lazily saying, "I want that clam."

He was even specific.

Yu Xia indulged him, fishing out the damaged clam, and threw in some abalone too.

"You can’t eat too much seafood, you might get gout."

Xie Qingci couldn’t swallow, replying, "I don’t think I’m that old yet."

Yu Xia chuckled softly, "Sorry, my mistake."

In the second half, except for a few people coming by for clams, no one disturbed them, as if intentionally giving them a chance to be alone.

The couple, seeing eye to eye, also had their moment of solitude, already boldly feeding each other.

Unlike them, peeling clams and chatting about life.

"We’ll take the cruise back later, spend a night at the hotel across the shore. If you aren’t full, order something at the hotel," Yu Xia said.

Xie Qingci nodded, "I’ll bring the food to your room."

"I’m done eating, no need to come."

Xie Qingci said, "It’s fine; it’s not really about the food."

Yu Xia: "..."

He even raised his brows, saying, "Don’t get the wrong idea, it’s not what you think."

"If it isn’t, why go to my room? Midnight script discussions, early morning dream talks?" She didn’t believe him at all.

Xie Qingci, finishing the abalone, said blandly, "I’ll keep watch in case anyone isn’t thinking straight and comes to chat about life."

She immediately denied, "No way, you think everyone is like you?"

"If everyone were me, you’d be the damsel protagonist. So, will you open the door for me or not?"
