Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 363: Survival Gift Pack
The two of them were speaking in veiled terms, and Yu Xia didn’t listen much, choosing the card drawing task.
Even if Song Xi and the others completed the Fast Forward task and got the Fast Forward Card, even if they rushed to the first position and pulled down the flag, in terms of points, they might not necessarily outdo our group.
Upon receiving the task card, she glanced at it and then handed it over to Xie Qingci, before asking Lan Hui, "When are you planning to call the others over?"
Lan Hui was puzzled for a moment: "What, what do you mean by calling the others over?"
She raised an eyebrow: "Aren’t you hungry?"
"Hungry, yeah, do you have food?"
Looking somewhat cute, Yu Xia bent down and patted her face, patiently saying, "We don’t have any food. The food can probably only be acquired through the survival kit from the production team, so we need to quickly get everyone here, then we’ll receive the kit."
In other words, those who rush to the front are truly warriors charging ahead without expecting anything in return.
Lan Hui had never considered this question and looked at Song Xi.
They focused solely on speeding up to find clues so they could be the first to get the Fast Forward Card. This way, not only could they surpass Xie Qingci in speed, but they could also make up some points.
Never had they thought of benefiting others.
Song Xi was silent for a moment, then first asked Yu Xia, "How do you think we should notify them? We can’t just shout; that would only attract the pursuers."
"How would I know? We don’t have a phone to make a call." Yu Xia was swiping across the check-in machine screen.
If it were just the two groups of guests left, it would be great. They could immediately get the big survival kit and not worry about others.
But voicing this thought might spark discussion, given the current state of boredom among internet moral judges; if spoken out loud, it might even invite criticisms.
"If we can only rely on shouting, then before the others even get here, they might all be caught by the pursuers who hear the noise," Song Xi said thoughtfully.
Yu Xia paused her action, "Hey, is this episode actually a test of humanity? Either we riskily notify everyone here and go hungry for half the night, or we sacrifice their safety to call people over."
Either you die, or others die.
Xie Qingci: "Call them over, there likely aren’t too many pursuers released yet."
Song Xi seemed to be waiting for him to make this decision, as if even if the words weren’t from his mouth, doing so wouldn’t be his responsibility.
"Then we’ll call them."
It quickly grew dark outside, leaving only a faint layer of light. Yu Xia and Lan Hui stayed in the room, waiting as other guests gradually arrived.
In the meantime, two other groups experienced getting caught and had to use points to buy their release, gathering everyone with a somewhat somber atmosphere.
After all, the points were hard-earned over three previous episodes, and now they spent 199 in a flash—not without heartache.
However, this mood didn’t last long. Once everyone was gathered, the production team delivered the promised survival kit.
Speaking of a kit, it really was a big one. A half-meter-long box filled with scattered items.
A group of people gathered around to look.
"There’s even a handheld fan, which is more humane, but it’s not food, so it’s not very useful."
"What’s this, braised quail eggs?"
"There are cookies here!"
"Cookies that cost a dollar, and the price tag hasn’t even been removed... I’m speechless."
"There are also dates, and here are two packs of soy milk powder. Can you eat this dry?"
The variety of items was extensive, but none of it was real food.
With the food in hand, the next issue was how to distribute it.
Out of courtesy, the boys decided to give the tasty and easy-to-eat items to the girls.
Yu Xia received four braised quail eggs, a sausage, a handful of dates, a bottle of water, and half a box of cookies shared with Lan Hui.
This method of sharing food felt more like post-apocalyptic survival than in the previous three episodes.
After dividing the goods, everyone sat down on the floor and began to eat. Although there wasn’t much to stave off hunger, the atmosphere of everyone together, chatting while eating, was pleasant, like a picnic in spring, even making those cookies taste a lot better.
Yu Xia started with the cookies, eating them with sips of water and chatting with Lan Hui, then slowly nibbled on the dates.
The other items were stashed away in her backpack. When Xie Qingci put his water bottle in his bag, he felt the small packet of quail egg snacks and asked her, "Why aren’t you eating this?"
"I’ll save it; we don’t even know when the next meal will be."
Besides, they were hard to peel and messy, leaving sticky juices. In the end, eating it wasn’t as satisfying as a cookie.
It’s good for a snack when you’re full and have nothing to do.
Xie Qingci, holding that bag of quail eggs, replied with an "Mm" and returned it to the bag. Seeing her finish the cookies and gnawing on the dates like she was grinding her teeth, he asked again, "Is it enough? Do you want anything else?"
Yu Xia shook her head, "It’s enough, it’s enough."
His attentive care for the girls made Song Xi next to them seem lacking in gentlemanliness.
Soon enough, Song Xi politely asked Lan Hui, "Are you full? I still have some cookies here."
Lan Hui shook her head with some embarrassment, softly saying, "You go ahead and eat."
The amount of food was so little, asking if they were full was simply rhetorical.
Song Xi was silent for two seconds and then split his cookie in two, passing it over.
"It’s fine, you eat."
Lan Hui looked at the two pieces of cookies and gave him an "I understand" look, splitting a piece out and handing it to Yu Xia: "Yu Xia, you’re not full, right? Have another piece."
Yu Xia waved her hand: "No need, you eat it yourself."
One insists, so everyone ends up not eating.
Lan Hui insisted further, bringing the cookie to her mouth.
"Go on, eat it."
She had no choice but to take it, offering three dates in return as compensation.
Xie Qingci hadn’t said a word, busy unwrapping an oat milk candy and putting it in his mouth.
The taste was too sweet; he grimaced as he ate it.
After the makeshift community meal, they soon welcomed the long-awaited truce time.
The truce time in this episode was truly a welcome relief.
They got up and gathered behind the door, cautiously pushed it open to peek outside, and then quietly queued to walk out.
The pursuers probably went off to dinner; the dim, silent unfinished building looked increasingly eerie.
Someone suggested, "Why don’t we all stay here together? It won’t be as scary with more people."
Xie Qingci countered, "That’s not practical. We need to use this time to complete tasks and continue finding clues. Plus, if we stay until 8 a.m. tomorrow, the two pursuers standing by the door could capture us all in one sweep."
Although his reasoning was sound, many present thought he just wanted to be alone with Yu Xia.
After three episodes of interaction, everyone had a general understanding of Xie Qingci’s style; he wasn’t very chatty, carried an indifferent expression, and didn’t seem to enjoy interacting with others—his presence was just made more prominent by his physique.
But when it came to Yu Xia, it was a completely different story.
