Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 344: Rivals Hurl Insults
The truce time arrived quickly.
Yu Xia’s team was still in the lead, strolling leisurely down the street in their ancient costumes, happily greeting other guests they met.
When they encountered Tan and her husband, Yu Xia invited the couple to join them for a rest at the inn.
Tan shook her head and declined, "We’ve already been caught."
The couple was a bit older and couldn’t keep up with the energy of the younger participants. They were at a disadvantage in these small-scale running and jumping games and were caught right after leaving the second station in the afternoon.
But they didn’t seem upset. The couple wandered around the film base, and Tan’s husband even bought her an ice pop, happily taking photos to remember the day.
Yu Xia was a bit surprised but then realized that they would only share the cost of the room with Song Xi’s group tonight.
She glanced at Xie Qingci.
Then she smiled and took out two Red String Copper Plates from her pocket and handed them to Tan.
"Here’s a game keepsake for Tan and her husband. Now you can rest well."
Tan took the copper plates, smiling kindly, and patted her hand. Then she looked at Xie Qingci and said in a matchmaker-like tone, "You guys are strong, you should be able to take first place this time; give it your all. I’m waiting to hear your good news."
Yu Xia chuckled twice and nodded haphazardly.
She thought the "good news" that Tan mentioned was likely not about taking first place but rather a hint about marriage and starting a family.
Xie Qingci didn’t hide his joy and continued smiling.
After bidding farewell to Tan and her husband, Yu Xia turned to look at him, and he stopped smiling seriously, looking back at her and asking, "What’s up? Are you hungry?"
She wasn’t hungry, just thirsty, suddenly craving Bi Luo Chun tea.
They barely settled dinner and returned to the inn, and as usual, turned off the camera. The previously harmonious atmosphere quickly changed to everyone minding their own business without much interaction.
Artists are not necessarily close to each other, some of them even have competitive relationships, making it even harder to be friends. Off-camera, this state is the most normal.
Yet, under normal circumstances, there are always those who act unusually.
Yu Xia’s legs were sore from running today. Once the camera was off, she found a place to stretch and relax her muscles with Xie Qingci guiding her nearby.
The calf ache was strong, and she controlled her breathing while stretching her calf, her head leaning against the wall, only able to hear Xie Qingci counting down from twenty.
Halfway through, another voice came.
Song Xi walked over holding a tube of medicated oil, squatted beside them and said, "Yu Xia, I brought some medicated oil. Do you want to use it? It’s very effective for muscle soreness and relaxing muscle groups."
Yu Xia was quite surprised, turned around to sit on the ground and looked at him.
With a gentle smile and a calm demeanor, seeing her turn around, he smiled and handed the medicated oil closer to her.
"Give it a shot. I saw you keeping a stern face while running outside; it must be uncomfortable, right?"
Yu Xia didn’t take it, silently looking at the nearby Xie Qingci’s cold face.
Pausing, she glanced past them towards the fourth person in the room.
Lan Hui seemed to have been through some major gossip melt-down, not appearing shocked by Song Xi’s behavior. At this point, she probably felt a bit redundant and casually opened the door to walk outside.
It looked like she wanted to avoid this gossip-filled battle.
She withdrew her gaze and asked Song Xi, "What did you say to Lan Hui?"
Song Xi kept his smile intact and saw she still hadn’t accepted the oil, then directly opened it, saying while opening, "Nothing really, she’s been in the entertainment circle for some years now. Even without anyone telling her, she knows what gossip is only meant to be watched, not discussed."
Yu Xia was about to express her thoughts when Xie Qingci sneered, lazily saying:
"Did you tell her in advance not to be surprised? You think handling her well allows you to come here to fawn over someone? Actually, you only dare to do some irritating acts in this room to express your unsettled desire to show off."
His secretly-admitted affection, his clandestine pursuit, besides touching yourself, it’s of no use.
His voice was chillier than cursing, even without profanity, hurting more than a national swear word.
Yu Xia was hearing him unreservedly rebuke someone for the first time, raising her brows to look at him.
Then she turned to Song Xi.
From previous exchanges with Song Xi, she judged that he had a strong sense of dignity and always headstrongly came looking for trouble, embarrassedly lashing out when poked with a few sharp words.
She assumed his reaction would be similar this time, yet Song Xi simply tightened his lips, calmly glancing at Xie Qingci, and poured a bit of the opened oil onto his palm, rubbing it.
"Try this first," he said while lowering his head, rubbing his wrist a couple of times, and then addressing Xie Qingci, "Cannot deny its effectiveness just because it’s given by someone you dislike, can you? Her comfort should be the priority, right?"
Inwardly, Yu Xia went wow, eyes wide open.
Whoa, where did Song Xi get trained? Suddenly he’s acting so adept.
If she wasn’t the heroine, she would surely shout "Interesting" at this moment.
But she was sitting between the two, turning her head would immediately meet her boyfriend’s icy expression, so she couldn’t voice any excitement.
After a brief moment of dead silence, Xie Qingci restrained his anger, tossing the bottle of oil directly, hitting Song Xi, with the contents spilling all over him.
"What thing, worthy for her to use?"
Song Xi closed his eyes after being hit, then cooled his face: "The bottle’s spilled, only my hands are left with a bit. Seems like you want me to give it to her."
Xie Qingci kicked hard.
Yu Xia flinched, sticking against the wall without moving.
She felt this scene was beyond her, completely a battleground where the two gentlemen unleashed their full firepower.
Xie Qingci stood up, strenuously controlling himself, sternly warning Song Xi once more: "You better stay away from us. If you care about your career, just behave yourself as a guest."
Song Xi also stood up, the previous kick having put him in a slightly awkward position, yet with his cold face, there was an unusual allure.
"Are you in a fit of rage already? What did I do? Just kindly brought over some medicated oil. What are you worried about? This angry, are you afraid I’ll compete with you?"
He seemed different than usual, as if angering Xie Qingci made him feel refreshed, speaking more skillfully, not minding his awkward state in the slightest.
"Are you worthy?" Xie Qingci said, one word at a time, "Just offering a little fawning makes you feel possessed of threatening skills? How did I not know you could be so self-congratulatory?"
Song Xi: "Whether worthy or not isn’t up to you to decide; acting deep on camera, haven’t you asked yourself if you’re worthy?"
"Am I worthy? I am her boyfriend. Do you think I’m worthy? How about you? Who are you? A cowardly turtle, knowing our relationship but still fawning over her. Song Xi, aren’t you being low?"
Yu Xia listened, shocked and bewildered.
She guessed Xie Qingci was probably aggravated by Song Xi’s attitude of pretending he didn’t exist, which led him to speak such words. Say a couple more lines, wouldn’t they be fighting?
She reached out to pull Xie Qingci, shaking his wrist.
"Alright, aren’t you thirsty? My legs still hurt, how about massaging them for me?"
