The first demon that I visited was one that had territory that was quite close to this place.

This demon was someone that was close to the previous demon king and had surrendered to the humans once the demon king died.

He was unlike the rest of the other demons that had been close to the previous demon king that had gone out in a blaze of glory trying to protect him. He was someone that was smart enough to recognize a bad situation and surrendered to save his own life.

But according to the stories that I heard, he was someone that had already made it clear that he would betray the demon king if it meant saving his own life.

Even then, he was allowed to be close to the previous demon king because of how useful he was.

That was why he had territory that was right by the demon king’s castle.

This was the kind of person that couldn’t be trusted since he only cared about himself.

As such, that was why he was the first one that I chose to visit.

Since he was someone that only cared about himself and he was the demon king, it was only natural that he would be the one that was the most suspicious,

It would only be too easy for him to claim the relic that the former demon king once possessed.

When I arrived at this territory, the first thing that happened was that this demon actually introduced his daughters to me. They were demons that had a humanoid figure, so they could be considered beautiful to humans.

And it was clear by the way that he was acting just what his intentions were.

Only I was surprised that he would do something like this.

As well, I was a bit afraid of how Klein and the others would report this.

It didn’t take long to figure out what he was after.

Since he was someone that only cared about himself, it was only natural that he wanted to obtain the most benefits from the trade with the humans. And since I was the one that was in charge of that, he was trying to get closer to me to receive beneficial treatment.

It was even to the point that he was willing to sell off his daughters for this.

It really seemed like he wasn’t anything good, which made me even more suspicious of him.

But it wasn’t as if I could just go snooping around his territory. Even if it was at night, it would be hard to do something like this and there was just too much to explore.

That was why I came up with something else.

What the demon lord of this territory never noticed was that there were bones that dropped in his territory as our carriage traveled across it. These were small bones that were hard to notice from afar and they had been planted all over the territory.

Once the carriage was gone, these bones picked themselves up and took the form of small skeletal creatures.

These were small rat skeletons that soon ran off in different directions.

With how small they were, people didn’t notice them at all. And even if they did, it wasn’t as if they cared about them.

Since the demons dealt with undead all the time, rat skeletons could even be considered common in these parts.

But after my mana pool increased, my control of the Orb of the Dead and the skeletons became even better. I could actually will these rat skeletons to act as my eyes and ears across this place.

With the rat skeletons doing the digging, it really was easy finding the different things that I was looking for, even though I was with the demon lord. Through the Orb of the Dead, I was able to see all the different things that the rat skeletons found.

They found plenty of things about the various demons that lived in this territory.

These were things that would be considered embarrassing if they were revealed, but there wasn’t a single thing that was incriminating.

Even the lord of this territory didn’t have anything that was incriminating.

Though it was surprising to find out what the secret of this lord was…

It seemed that he had a certain fetish that he didn’t reveal to anyone else, it was something that he even seemed to keep from his wife.

It was that he had a thing for playing with the back hole and it was something that he did in private. It was so private that he had even set up a room for himself to do it in that no one else would be able to find.

But that was the only thing that was there.

I looked up at him with a surprised look before suddenly remembering where we were.

We had been in the middle of the town that he had set up near his estate and he had been explaining the various specialties of his town when I said this. So that was why the demon lord had a worried look on his face when he heard what I said.

He thought that I was talking about the products that he had been introducing to me…

I shook my head and said, "No, no, it’s not that. I remembered something else while you were introducing these things to me and I was talking about that."

It didn’t really seem like he believed me with the way that he looked at me, but he didn’t say anything in the end.
