Shinji Matou at Your Service-Chapter 1079: Understanding Between Clairvoyants
Chapter 1079 - 1079: Understanding Between Clairvoyants
The matters of the world.
All can be seen.
And what cannot be seen can be analyzed.
Even the most boastful person would not dare utter such words, for saying them would surely invite ridicule. This is because such a claim approaches omniscience, an ability far beyond human comprehension.
However, the three men sitting in the Flower Garden, which existed in both reality and a strange otherworldly realm, did not laugh. To them, this was simply a matter of fact, an inherent talent and ability. Each of them possessed one of the three most powerful forms of clairvoyance in history, all evaluated at EX-rank.
Gilgamesh's eyes could traverse the river of time, seeing the end of humanity and even the planet itself.
Solomon's eyes could know both the past and the future, spanning the entirety of human history.
Merlin's eyes were focused on the present—anything happening now, he could see in an instant, as long as he desired.
These three highest levels of clairvoyance, combined with their vast wisdom, meant there were very few things in the world they didn't know—unless they chose not to know or purposefully avoided knowing.
"I've sealed my own Clairvoyance," Gilgamesh said, waving his hand as if it were a trivial matter.
"It's too boring otherwise. There's no joy in it."
Solomon, with a calm expression, stated, "Our eyes aren't as convenient as yours. We can't just look wherever we want, however we want."
"It's not as convenient as you think," Merlin said without hesitation, admitting the limitations of his own eyes.
"After all, I can only see the present. By the time I say one thing, the previous moment has already become the past."
These were words Merlin could only share with these two, an honest admission of his abilities' shortcomings.
Though the three men had never met in person until today, they had long been connected spiritually—through a miraculous, time-transcending bond.
"Still, even without using our Clairvoyance, you should already know what's happening in this city, right?"
"What are you planning?"
Gilgamesh asked, his tone suggestive.
Merlin smiled in response.
"I'm not planning anything. I want to know what you plan to do."
"I'm not planning anything either," Solomon said, his voice steady.
"If possible, I'd like to continue living as Romani Archaman. Drinking soda, eating popcorn, and watching little Marie grow up—Merlin, I think I understand how you must have felt."
Hearing this, Merlin's smile became even brighter.
"You've come to understand, huh? Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Watching someone grow slowly—it's the greatest treasure in the world. That's exactly why I snuck out in this form to watch over Artoria up close."
This odd reasoning naturally prompted Gilgamesh to chime in.
"You two... Could you stop saying such embarrassing things? It's disgraceful, like a bunch of mongrels."
"And what about you, King of Heroes?"
Solomon retorted without hesitation.
"How is your attitude toward that girl, Rin Tohsaka, any better than ours?"
"It's the duty of a king," Gilgamesh replied with grandeur.
"Rin is the daughter of my vassal, Tokiomi Tohsaka. As her king, it's my responsibility to ensure her well-being. She seeks to avenge her father, and I cannot stand idly by."
"You make it sound so noble," Solomon muttered under his breath.
"But aren't you enjoying it as well?"
"Guh..."
Gilgamesh's eyebrow twitched involuntarily.
Merlin stepped in to smooth things over.
"Whether it's the duty of a king or personal enjoyment, it's all the King of Heroes' business. It has nothing to do with us. Let's talk about something that is related. King of Heroes, when do you plan to take your revenge, and what will you do afterward?"
"I know what you're worried about," Gilgamesh said.
"It's the matter with the King of Knights and that clown, isn't it? Under normal circumstances, in a different time and place, I wouldn't let them off so easily. But this time, I'll let it be. In light of our meeting today, and because of all the interesting things that have happened."
At this, the three men—each possessing near-omniscience—smiled in unison. They all understood, to varying extents, the future of humanity, and they had each accepted that future with their own will, even though it was destined for destruction.
As they smiled, Merlin suddenly spoke toward a shadowy corner of the garden.
"Ah, we should also consider Lady Scathach's presence. With her here, dealing with her disciple won't be so easy."
As he spoke, shadows shifted, and Scathach emerged from the corner.
"Eavesdropping is a bad habit, Queen of the Land of Shadows," Gilgamesh teased with a light chuckle.
Scathach showed neither anger nor embarrassment, responding calmly, "I know it's a bad habit, but when three possessors of EX-rank Clairvoyance gather, I can't help but be curious."
"It's just a regular conversation."
"No," Scathach replied, "the fact that you're showing your true selves makes this far from ordinary."
Solomon, in a joking tone, teased her, but Scathach's sharp gaze made him freeze, his face stiffening as he chuckled awkwardly in an attempt to backtrack.
"Ahaha... ahahahaha..."
Seeing this, Scathach sighed and said, "Besides, after today, there won't be another opportunity."
"..."
Gilgamesh fell silent for a moment, then asked solemnly, "Have you made your decision?"
"Yes." Scathach nodded.
"Today's the day. If we don't leave, those twisted beings hiding underground won't come out. Shinji... He's good at many things, but sometimes he's too greedy. He wants everything, and in doing so, he overlooks the things he could have seen. Whether it's the Holy Grail or anything else, everything comes with a price."
"That's how young people are," Merlin said with a sigh.
"They're young, after all. Youth. Ah, youth. Even Artoria was like that in the past. This is when the guidance of elders is needed—like you, or like me."
Scathach naturally responded, "That's part of a teacher's duty, after all. So, I'll pay the price this time—dragging you along with me."
"Well, in that case, we can't let this banquet end so easily."
As Gilgamesh spoke, he opened his treasury and took out the divine wine and goblets that Iskandar had coveted for so long.
"Before the final climax begins, let's use this to heat things a bit."
"Just the four of us? Isn't that a bit too quiet? When I arrived, Iskandar was already gathering others to look for you."
"Then let's all join in. I don't want to hear that guy complaining later. You two—"
As Gilgamesh turned his head, the surrounding garden of flowers vanished, and the two companions beside him had reverted to their usual forms: a simple doctor and a black cat, continuing their slacking off without shame.
Before Gilgamesh could say anything, Iskandar's loud, booming voice echoed from the distance.
"King of Heroes! King of Heroes! Where are you? Don't hide! I've brought people to drink with you! Tonight, we're drinking until we drop—let me tell you all, this is divine wine brewed by the God of Wine himself! Once you've had a sip, you'll never forget it! Hic~"
"You're drunk, Iskandar," came Artoria's voice.
"No, I'm not drunk! I won't get drunk until I've had that wine! Hic~"
It sounded like he had already drunk quite a bit.
PS: Among the three EX Clairvoyants, based purely on the description, Gilgamesh's ability to see the future might seem a bit weaker compared to Solomon's ability to see both the past and future. But considering specialization, Solomon's clairvoyance may lack the precision or range that Gilgamesh possesses—assuming they are meant to be on the same level.
PS2: But even if there's a slight difference, it doesn't matter. Gilgamesh still has the Sha Naqba Imuru as well as the Tablet of Destinies.
