Chapter 50: Sport’s Wear

The second ring from the alarm clock woke Candy up. She looked at the time... it was past 5 a.m. Gasps escaped her throat. Raymond told her to be in his room immediately at 5, but here she was, still in bed. Thinking about the intense kiss they shared last night made her sleep late.

She immediately flipped the duvet off her body and jumped out of bed, rushing to the bathroom. That sudden movement woke Rose up. Diana wasn’t in the room. Since Candy started sharing the room with them, she didn’t sleep there at night anymore.

"What the hell, Candy? Where are you going this early?" Rose asked, yawning, her sleepy eyes staring at Candy as she changed clothes fast.

"Boss’s room," Candy replied, her voice faint and hurried.

"But you usually go there around eight for work. Why now? Hope you haven’t done anything wrong... you’ve been acting strange since last night," Rose said. Candy shook her head.

"I didn’t do anything, see you later." She dashed out, leaving Rose sighing and going back to sleep.

...

Candy knocked and entered. Her eyes landed on him—Raymond sat with his leg crossed, head thrown back, chewing gently on his bubble gum.

"Good morning, boss," she greeted brightly. Raymond turned his gaze to her... their eyes locked. Candy’s gaze traveled from his eyes down to his lips, her mind flying back to the kiss from last night. She gulped and lowered her head.

"Sorry for being a few minutes late, boss," she added, raising her head to look at him.

Raymond looked away, uncrossed his legs, popped a bubble from his gum, and marched toward her. Candy’s heartbeat shot up as he came closer. She found herself gulping. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Change into the clothes on the cushion. Take the bag beside it when you come out. I’ll be waiting outside," he said gently, then left. Candy’s eyes followed the door he walked through.

"Why would he want me to change?" she muttered, walking to the cushion and picking up the clothes.

She tilted her head, studying them, trying to guess why.

"Sportswear? Why...?" she paused, surprised.

After changing, she stepped out and saw Raymond, head lowered, blowing off invisible dust from his nails, the other hand in his pocket.

As soon as he sensed her presence, he raised his head and looked at her, scanning her from head to toe. The sportswear really suited her. Candy’s eyes drifted over his body, remembering he was wearing his own sportswear too.

"Follow me," he muttered, turning and walking away. Candy didn’t say anything and followed.

Unseen, Diana stepped out from her hiding place, secretly following them.
