She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!-Chapter 217: Victim: Death of the Honest Partner 17
Xiang Yun watched as the concrete continued to pour in, holding her breath. Her earlier anxiety seemed to settle.
Huang Kejin was right; no one would look for someone in reinforced concrete.
Once the high-rise is built here, there’s even less chance anyone would tear it down to search for a person, right?
No, no one would ever discover that Gao Chengyu died here.
No one would discover it.
It wasn’t her fault, it was Gao Chengyu’s fault for insisting on being picky about the materials. The materials were all used, if they stopped or exposed it now, she and Huang Kejin would both be finished.
Honest people have their merits, but they also have this flaw—too serious.
Unable to stop them, he actually went to report to the police! This was sending her to prison.
Gao Chengyu was too heartless; she was at least his wife, yet he showed no consideration.
Gao Chengyu was too naïve. Once the money was taken, it wasn’t just between her and Huang Kejin anymore. Now it’s too late, and it’s his own fault for not being aware.
"Actually, I’ve long not wanted to be with that old man Gao Chengyu anymore. He’s dull, unattractive, can’t sweet talk, goes straight to sleep every day, and we can’t even have a proper conversation. You have no idea how I’ve endured these years." Xiang Yun recollected her experiences over the years, speaking with anger. "This is better; now we don’t have to keep up appearances."
"He would never have thought, even at his death, that the boy and girl twins were mine and yours, right? But, you still can’t acknowledge them openly, it would look bad, and he has a daughter who just started college. If she gets suspicious, it will be troublesome. If you show good behavior, after some time, we’ll register our marriage, and the kids will still call you Dad."
Huang Kejin comforted, "These years have been hard on you."
While operating the concrete pump truck to pour concrete, Huang Kejin’s thoughts drifted back to six years ago.
Back then, he was just a driver on the construction site and met the contractor Gao Chengyu. Upon knowing Gao Chengyu planned to start a company, he couldn’t help but be intrigued. After understanding Gao Chengyu’s temperament, he found he complemented Gao Chengyu well. But that wasn’t enough; he thought of his partner back home, Xiang Yun. Originally planning to bring Xiang Yun over, a new idea struck him.
How much could he earn just working for Gao Chengyu?
If Xiang Yun could stay by Gao Chengyu’s side and whisper in his ear, it would be more effective than anything.
Gao Chengyu’s wife had died unexpectedly, and he hadn’t taken another wife since.
After discussing it with Xiang Yun, she agreed.
He wasn’t afraid of Xiang Yun betraying; could an old man like Gao Chengyu satisfy Xiang Yun? On one side, there was the young, handsome him, and on the other, the old man’s money; Xiang Yun would choose both. He understood Xiang Yun well. Once this was done, they would have compromising information on each other, and neither dared to expose it.
Especially when Xiang Yun gave birth to a pair of twins, he felt even more assured she wouldn’t dare cross him.
As expected, things unfolded as he planned. By introducing the gentle and virtuous Xiang Yun to Gao Chengyu, he was treated like a brother by Gao Chengyu, involved in everything. Today, their joint company was prospering.
Originally, he and Xiang Yun planned to carry on like this, but Gao Chengyu couldn’t hold back.
It wasn’t their fault.
The materials were all used, construction had begun; could it really stop now? It might have been excusable, but the other party even wanted to expose this matter, was that not leaving him a way out?
"Brother Gao, this can’t be blamed on me," Huang Kejin’s gaze turned fierce, operating steadily.
Just then, a figure suddenly leapt out ahead, covered in concrete, faintly showing a human shape.
"Ah—" Xiang Yun saw it and screamed in fright.
"Ah—" Huang Kejin was startled too, shouting along, his hand trembling.
This time, Ah Chen was possessing a deceased middle-aged man, somewhat rare.
Though in this peculiar world, male victims appearing in these fragments wasn’t unusual.
"If it’s not your fault, whose fault is it?" Ah Chen wasn’t concerned about being covered in cement, looking toward Huang Kejin and Xiang Yun on the concrete pump truck, "Isn’t it Xiang Yun who deceived me here, and you taking the opportunity to stab me in the back?"
"So you two have been involved all along, and even made me raise your children," Ah Chen added, Gao Chengyu’s situation was rather pitiful.
This guy was truly honest.
"He’s not dead, he’s not dead!" Xiang Yun shrieked in panic, "What do we do? He’s not dead! If this gets out, we’re finished." She paused here, eyes sinisterly fixing on the cement-covered figure standing ahead. Instantly, she calmed, her expression much steadier, an eerie voice echoing, "Hit him! Run him over quickly! If he’s not dead, then kill him again, he’s not made of steel; he will die. Hit him down! If once isn’t enough, hit him ten times, he will die for sure." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Indeed, then let him die once more!" Huang Kejin hardened his heart, suddenly steering the truck toward Ah Chen, having no other thoughts; his primary concern now was finishing off Gao Chengyu.
If Gao Chengyu didn’t die today, it would be his end tomorrow.
Yet, as he reached Ah Chen’s position, the cement-covered figure vanished.
"Where is he? Where did he go?" Xiang Yun called out, looking left and right, even craning her neck to look outside.
Suddenly, she felt something wet on her head, reaching up to feel, she realized it was concrete.
"Ah—"
A high-pitched scream erupted, Xiang Yun’s eyes widened, a possibility striking her, she grabbed Huang Kejin suddenly, trembling, she said, "He’s not human!"
Huang Kejin saw the concrete dripping from Xiang Yun’s head to her forehead, also startled, the truck coming to a sudden halt.
They only felt a shadow in front, stiffly turning their heads, seeing the cement-covered figure lying against the windshield.
Their facial features obscured, it still shocked them into screams, almost fainting, yet they couldn’t pass out. They kept muttering don’t kill me, don’t kill me, what to do, what to do... Xiang Yun said this was Huang Kejin’s idea, Huang Kejin said Xiang Yun actually planned it, he merely executed.
[Host, when you were in that celebrity world, why didn’t you consider starring in ghost films? I think you’d be quite suited; you’ve set the atmosphere perfectly, your skills are excellent, it would surely scare a bunch of young people into tears if aired!] 997 suddenly chimed in.
Ah Chen:...
She didn’t exactly want to act in ghost films either, but they really were a bit menacing, so why not scare them a little for now.
[Why not scare the children?]
[Too terrifying, might get restricted.] 997 explained.
Ah Chen: Consider it a reason.
Huang Kejin and Xiang Yun both attempted to get out of the vehicle, yet no matter what they did, the doors wouldn’t open, fear draining all their strength. Blaming each other, they entirely failed to notice the doors were nailed shut from outside by Ah Chen.
As the two continued their quarrel, Ah Chen pulled out Gao Chengyu’s phone from her pocket.
It still worked, she had used it before; the world consciousness had finally done something right this time.
Sitting atop the truck’s hood, she dialed the police in front of the two inside.
The pair inside turned their heads blankly upon hearing her voice.
