She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!-Chapter 139: From Dutiful Senior Sister to Demon Cultivator 13
Jing Zheng, Meng Yue, and others watched as Ah Chen and Ying Zhefeng left, not daring to say a word.
No demon cultivator wasn’t afraid of Ying Jianjun. They weren’t the kind who devoured cultivators’ flesh and blood, but Ying Zhefeng’s notorious reputation was real enough to instill fear.
"I didn’t expect this to be true. Ying Zhefeng was really bewitched by her." Tan Baolin looked in the direction where the two disappeared, "What kind of method did she use? She doesn’t seem like someone who would use such means."
"That’s where you’re wrong. She didn’t use any methods on Ying Jianjun. It’s just that Ying Jianjun took an interest in her." Liang Xiang smiled, "This is truly interesting. A righteous sword master falling for a demon cultivator. I wonder what the reaction will be when today’s events get out. Those righteous cultivators might panic."
"With Ying Jianjun’s appearance today, our goal can’t be achieved. Sect Master, do you have any ideas?" Meng Yue asked while feeling a sense of relief.
It seemed that Ying Jianjun would stay with Yun Chen. No matter what the Sect Master had in mind for Yun Chen, it was no longer possible.
That was Ying Jianjun, after all. Even if they all joined forces, they wouldn’t be able to withstand a single sword from him. What he said was true.
"Give up recruiting Yun Chen." Jing Zheng withdrew his gaze from the direction the two disappeared, a flicker of unwillingness in his eyes, but he was powerless. He was no match for Ying Zhefeng.
"Sect Master, are you really interested in Yun Chen?" Liang Xiang asked, eyes probing. She remembered they only met for the first time today. Did he fall in love at first sight after hearing Yun Chen’s reputation?
"Let’s go find another demon cultivator." Jing Zheng didn’t answer, shifting the subject, "That’s the real business."
The rest wasn’t important, unless one day he could surpass Ying Zhefeng.
Tan Baolin sighed, "There aren’t many demon cultivators that fit Ruyi Sect’s criteria. It’s so hard to find one who doesn’t devour cultivators. Everyone knows it’s a fast way to advance. Even outer sect disciples, the Sect Master doesn’t want that kind of person. We’ll have to take our time."
"Not to mention such a demon cultivator can’t even be an outer sect disciple, they can’t even be a servant." Jing Zheng’s face was cold, "Taking that path leads either to destruction or a real upheaval."
Overthrow the heavens? Unless the Heavenly Dao perishes, it’s never possible.
If the Heavenly Dao perishes, this world might not exist anymore, and both cultivators and demon cultivators would perish.
When Ah Chen and Ying Zhefeng appeared among the crowd, those who could recognize them were shocked and immediately worried. If Ying Jianjun was really entangled with Yun Chen, this demoness, could the Cultivation World remain peaceful?
"It seems many people are placing their hopes on you." Ah Chen spoke, completely ignoring those gazes.
Ying Zhefeng said, "I’ve never been their hope, just doing what I want to do. Maybe one day, I won’t want to do it anymore. It’s best to rely on oneself for hope. Depending on others can be revoked at any time."
The reason he slays demons isn’t for justice or to uphold the righteous path.
It’s simply because he wants to do it.
When encountering evil demon cultivators, he simply exterminated them, finding their deeds intolerable, so he went to kill them.
Compared to having this world dominated by those evil demon cultivators, he felt it was better for righteous cultivators to take the lead. He wasn’t sure if this view would change, but at least it hadn’t changed yet.
People called him the light of righteousness, a true gentleman, but he didn’t care.
Others said he had fallen, criticizing him for his weak will, but he didn’t care either.
When people said Yun Chen had bewitched him, he cared a bit. It’s not the truth. Yun Chen didn’t enchant him; he wanted to be close to her.
If he hadn’t wanted to seek her out, even a hundred words wouldn’t have made a difference.
"You’re quite interesting."
"It makes one even more curious," Ah Chen said.
Despite Ying Zhefeng’s calm exterior, his heart was already pounding in all kinds of chaos. Her gaze at him was something he couldn’t handle, making him want to get closer to her. He even thought, perhaps he should have agreed that day, and maybe they would already be Dao companions.
"What is Ying Jianjun thinking?" Ah Chen leaned over and asked with a smile.
Her sudden approach startled Ying Zhefeng, nearly causing him to hold her directly. He wondered what it would feel like to hold her. It must be wonderful.
She was indeed beautiful.
He quickly came to his senses, chastising himself for his increasingly wicked thoughts.
He averted his gaze uncomfortably, "Thinking about important things."
Thinking about becoming Dao companions with her was also important, wasn’t it? He hadn’t deceived her.
Ah Chen pressed her lips into a smile, about to say something when her smile suddenly disappeared, her gaze directed forward. From the momentum, their cultivation levels were quite high, not just in the Divine Split Stage.
The foremost three were two in the Divine Gathering Mid Stage, one in the Divine Gathering Late Stage.
Were they coming for her?
"Mr. Ying, long time no see." The speaker was a cultivator in a purple robe, looking plain, so nondescript they would be hard to find in a crowd.
It seemed they were looking for Ying Zhefeng.
Ah Chen’s interest piqued, eyeing the three continuously, wondering if they were here to persuade Ying Zhefeng to stay away from her, a demon cultivator. If so, they’d surely fail.
"Master Zhu, long time no see." Ying Zhefeng responded and added to Ah Chen, "Qianyuan Sect, Seventh Peak Master Zhu Hui."
"Elder Li Qingfeng of Kaisan Sect," he continued, introducing another handsome grey-robed male cultivator, then his gaze fell on the slightly stern but beautiful yellow-robed female cultivator, "Pang Xuan, Pang Palace Master of Wulian Palace."
"The three are fellow cultivators from around my time, not much interaction, just fleeting encounters." He added.
He had always been alone, never forming deep connections with anyone.
He couldn’t quite recall how he embarked on the path of cultivation. If he thought carefully, he might remember, but it was unnecessary, just insignificant memories.
Since Ying Zhefeng introduced them, Ah Chen graciously smiled and greeted them, "Master Zhu, Elder Li, Palace Master Pang, hello."
Zhu Hui twitched an eye, but remained silent.
Li Qingfeng didn’t speak either, not even looking towards Ah Chen, as if she didn’t exist, his gaze even showed disdain.
Pang Xuan scoffed, ignoring her, her attention instead on Ying Zhefeng, "Mr. Ying, are you really going to entangle with this demon cultivator? What sort of fantasy has she filled your head with? It’s fine if you find a proper cultivator, but why insist on a demon cultivator? You have slain so many demon cultivators, lauded as the beacon of righteousness, a true gentleman. Are you really going to let your reputation be ruined for a single demon cultivator?"
Ah Chen raised her eyebrows gently, realizing it was a romantic rivalry.
No wonder Pang Palace Master looked at her with such animosity, harboring intentions for her man. That would end poorly, idle thoughts in vain.
Ying Zhefeng wasn’t pleased with their attitude, introducing them out of goodwill, only for them to dismiss her.
"You meddle too much."
Facing the trio’s manner, Ying Zhefeng felt that saying anything more would be pointless, their connection wasn’t deep, perhaps they thought more of it, but his ties with anyone were shallow.
"No need to mind them," Ying Zhefeng said to Ah Chen, "They’re rude, if they won’t even acknowledge a greeting, better to avoid such people."
With that, he pulled Ah Chen away. Only after taking a couple of steps, he realized something was amiss. How could he justifiably hold her hand like this?
Once he held it, he didn’t want to let go.
Especially since she didn’t try to pull away, the thought made his heart race, his heart pounding wild, and he desired even more.
"Fine, if you say ignore, I ignore." Ah Chen didn’t just not pull away; she twisted her wrist, holding his hand, fingers intertwined.
Ying Zhefeng tensed up completely, was this too intimate?
"Don’t you like it?" she leaned in to ask.
Ying Zhefeng was thrown into disarray, though she spoke softly, everyone had keen ears. How should he respond?
"If you don’t like it, then let go."
Ying Zhefeng didn’t let go, body tense.
Feeling the subtle gazes around, he finally whispered two words, "I like it."
"Then let’s hold for a while longer." Ah Chen smiled, holding his hand tightly.
Contentment filled Ying Zhefeng inside, gripping back.
He liked it, liked it so much he couldn’t help himself.
But, just holding for a while wasn’t enough...
Zhu Hui and the others were taken aback, followed by a silent curse at Ah Chen’s words, truly a demoness!
The three hurriedly leaped forward to block their path.
