Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 66 - Unexpected Surprise
66: Chapter 66: Unexpected Surprise
66 -66: Unexpected Surprise
At this moment, a figure entered the room, and Su Ming immediately raised his gun toward the incoming silhouette.
Chen Tong was startled by the sudden action and instinctively aimed his gun at Su Ming as well, but when he realized it was Su Ming, he exclaimed with surprise,
“It’s me!”
Seeing it was Chen Tong, Su Ming immediately lowered his gun and let out a small sigh of relief.
“I thought it was the mechanical spiders catching up, how are things outside?”
“They’re probably all wiped out.
After you got taken out, I got killed instantly as well.
But luckily, Lin Chuyu came to the rescue, and I was fortunate that they didn’t attack the cockpit, plus the mecha didn’t explode, so I managed to run inside.
That girl really has our back; wonder if she’s taken a liking to me.”
Chen Tong spoke with lingering fear.
“Enough with the vanity.
Let’s go, it’s not safe here!”
Su Ming decisively said to Chen Tong.
“You think?
That passageway was so small, they shouldn’t have been able to come down, right?”
“On your way in here, didn’t you see the mechanical spiders on the floor?”
“I did, let’s hurry and go!”
Chen Tong’s face changed slightly, and he wasted no more words.
The two of them immediately left the storage room and entered the passageway outside, only to bump right into the mechanical spiders descending.
These mechanical spiders immediately locked onto the two of them and quickly crawled over.
Su Ming and Chen Tong were both dumbstruck; it really seemed like they were down on their luck, as if even drinking water could choke them.
They instantly raised their rifles and sprayed bullets at the crawling mechanical spiders before turning to run.
The mechanical spiders relentlessly pursued them from behind.
Su Ming and Chen Tong ran while taking turns shooting backward.
“Up ahead is a crossroads, which way do we run?”
Chen Tong shouted anxiously.
Su Ming quickly scoped it out; the left led to the underground parking, the right to the storage area, and straight ahead to the equipment area.
“Right!”
“Got it!”
Chen Tong immediately followed Su Ming’s lead and turned right.
At this moment, the mechanical spiders kept pursuing them relentlessly, and Su Ming turned his head and sprayed gunfire.
Click-click~
His magazine was soon empty.
Su Ming felt around his waist, but couldn’t find a spare magazine, his heart sank.
He had picked up the rifle just to get by; he hadn’t taken a spare magazine.
So, he immediately asked Chen Tong who was beside him.
“Chen Tong, do you have any magazines left?”
“Not a damn one left, I’m out of bullets as well.
But I do have one explosive hand grenade!”
Chen Tong pulled out the last explosive hand grenade and threw it backward.
Boom!
A massive explosion swept through the area.
Su Ming and Chen Tong didn’t look back at the mechanical spiders, but mustered all their strength, and kept sprinting forward.
Soon they came across one junction after another that led to different areas of the storage section.
Su Ming and Chen Tong randomly chose a junction, turned into it, and then entered the main route through an artificial passage.
After about half an hour,
Su Ming and Chen Tong could no longer run.
They stopped and leaned against the wall, panting heavily.
“Su Ming, did those mechanical spiders catch up?”
Chen Tong asked breathlessly.
Su Ming glanced back, his throat dry as he responded.
“No.”
“That’s good.
But what’s going on, why do I feel so tired?”
Chen Tong said, nearly collapsing.
Hearing Chen Tong say this, Su Ming felt something was off and quickly looked down at his body.
To his surprise, he discovered his status indicators showed fatigue and hunger.
“We haven’t eaten, we’re in a state of fatigue and hunger, our physical strength has significantly decreased.”
Su Ming simply said to Chen Tong.
“Are you kidding me, what kind of test system is this, so twisted?”
Chen Tong couldn’t help but grumble.
“Don’t talk about that now, let’s look around and see if we can find some supplies.”
Su Ming spoke plainly.
Chen Tong turned his head to survey their surroundings, saying with a headache,
“How are we supposed to search a place this big?”
“We should be safe for now, let’s split up and look.”
Su Ming calmly suggested to Chen Tong.
“Okay!”
Chen Tong immediately agreed.
“Remember, don’t go too far.”
After Su Ming gave his instructions, he headed toward the B3 storage area on the right.
Chen Tong went toward the B4 storage area in front.
It wasn’t long before Su Ming reached the B3 storage area and saw one large sealed shipping container after another along the way.
Su Ming’s eyes lit up, he quickly went up to take a look and saw markings sprayed on the surface of the containers.
“Third Planet·Tianfu Interstellar Ore Group Company, HW-4751 shipping containers.”
…
Su Ming frowned tightly, the containers were filled with ores and such, which were of no use to him.
He immediately continued searching forward.
After several minutes, Su Ming briefly checked all the large containers in the B3 storage area, hoping to find some mecha weapons.
Unfortunately, they were all various mining raw materials.
He exhaled slightly, repressing his frustration and kept searching forward.
At that moment, he saw a work hut in front of him.
Su Ming immediately walked in; the door of the work hut was wide open, and bloodstains stained the ground by the door.
He carefully stepped into the work hut, which was incredibly messy inside with scattered documents everywhere and a shredded remains of a worker on the floor.
Su Ming cautiously looked around to confirm there were no hidden dangers in any of the dead angles.
Only then did he approach the deceased body and squat down.
The lower half of the body was torn apart, the face frozen in an expression of terror and pain that was deeply unsettling.
But Su Ming didn’t care about that, his gaze was fixed on the name tag on the chest.
“Manhavi Military Airport · Manco Data Clerk.”
Su Ming then stood up and began to look around at the scattered documents.
A document on the ground caught his eye. ƒreewebɳovel.com
“Lovosk Interstellar Heavy Industry Shipping…”
Just as he was about to walk over and pick up the scattered document,
Chen Tong rushed in, brimming with excitement.
“Su Ming!”
“What happened?”
Su Ming turned his head to look at the excitedly running Chen Tong and asked.
“I found a bunch of Second Generation Mecha, haha!”
Chen Tong declared ecstatically.
“Let’s go!”
Su Ming said to Chen Tong without a moment’s hesitation.
They were Mecha Drivers, and without their mechas, they were even less useful than infantry soldiers.
Chen Tong immediately led Su Ming running toward the B4 storage area.
“What model of Second Generation Mecha did you find?”
“Flame Knight, they are all Flame Knights, there’s about ten of them!”
“Good!
Flame Knights may not compare to Gun Cavalry, but they’re still very agile and barely qualify to stand in front of Gun Cavalry without being instantaneously crushed.”
Su Ming personally didn’t really like the cumbersome and sturdy mechas like Iron Head.
He preferred agile mechas that were good at close combat like Gun Cavalry.
“With Second Generation Mecha, we can try to go out and take on that Gun Cavalry.”
Chen Tong said more and more excitedly.
“That, we’ll have to plan carefully.”
Su Ming hesitated before replying, even with Second Generation Mecha, he wasn’t very confident.
