Shadow Husband:I Have a Hidden SSS-Class System-Chapter 57: THE CHALLENGE
The morning after the guild meeting, Rama woke to find Sekar already awake, tablet in hand, frowning at something.
"Problem?" he asked.
"Hendra sent out the raid roster last night. Look at this." She showed him the screen.
CORRUPTED TOWER RAID - ROSTER
Team Leaders:
Hendra (Vice GM, Lv 62, A-rank) Sri (Officer, Lv 58, A-rank) Johan (Officer, Lv 60, A-rank)
DPS Squad: 12 members, all A-rank, Levels 52-59
Tank Squad: 6 members, A-rank, Levels 54-61
Support Squad: 8 members, B-rank to A-rank, Levels 45-53
Special Assignment - Mascot Support:
Rama Kusuma (Lv 48?, "System Player")
Rama read the designation and laughed. "Mascot Support? Really?"
"He’s trying to humiliate you. Putting you in a made-up role with a question mark next to your level." Sekar’s expression was furious. "I’m going to override this. Put you in proper DPS squad where you belong."
"Don’t."
"What? Rama—"
"Let him play his games. Let him assign me to ’Mascot Support.’ Let him put a question mark next to my level." Rama set down the tablet. "When I perform perfectly anyway, it’ll make his defeat that much more complete."
"You’re sure?"
"Completely. Besides, support role gives me more freedom. I can position anywhere, help anyone, demonstrate versatility. If I was locked into DPS squad, I’d be competing for kills. This way, I can show I’m good at everything."
Sekar considered, then nodded slowly. "Okay. But if he tries anything dangerous, anything that risks your life to prove a point—"
"Then I’ll handle it. I promise." He kissed her forehead. "Trust me. I’ve got this."
"I know you do. I just wish—" She stopped herself.
"Wish what?"
"I wish the guild would just believe you. Accept you. Instead of making you prove yourself like some applicant trying to join."
"I am an applicant, in a way. I’m asking them to trust me with their lives during the void war. They have every right to demand proof." He smiled. "And in three days, they’ll have it."
Later that morning, Rama met with the Network at their warehouse.
"You’re really doing this?" Yanto asked. "Walking into a hostile guild raid where half the team wants you to fail?"
"Not half. Maybe a third. The rest are neutral or cautiously optimistic." Rama pulled up a map of Corrupted Tower on the warehouse’s projection screen. "And yes, I’m doing this. It’s the perfect opportunity to demonstrate System Player superiority over traditional Hunters."
"Superiority is a strong word."
"But accurate. Watch." Rama zoomed in on the dungeon layout—a 20-floor tower, progressively harder floors, boss on floor 20. "Standard Hunter teams take six to eight hours to clear this. I can do it in four. While in a support role. While making everyone else look good."
"How?" Ratna asked. "Even with System powers, you’re still outnumbered by higher-level Hunters. The raid leader can make your life difficult."
"Because I’ve cleared this dungeon five times before. I know every floor. Every trap. Every monster spawn point. Every boss pattern." He highlighted specific sections. "Floor 8 has a hidden ambush that kills two people on average. I’ll prevent it. Floor 14 has a puzzle that takes thirty minutes normally. I’ll solve it in five. Floor 20 boss has a one-shot mechanic that nobody knows about yet. I’ll counter it before it triggers."
"You’re going to show off," Budi said, grinning.
"I’m going to demonstrate competence. There’s a difference." Rama turned to face them. "This raid serves multiple purposes. One, it proves my power to Eternal Bond Guild. Two, it demonstrates what System Players can do, which helps recruitment. Three, it builds credibility for the void threat warnings. Four—" He smiled. "—it shuts up Hendra permanently."
"You really don’t like this Hendra guy," Yanto observed.
"He insulted my wife. He called me a mascot. He’s trying to sabotage humanity’s void defense preparations because of petty politics." Rama’s expression hardened. "So yes, I’m going to make him look foolish. Professionally. Thoroughly. In front of his entire guild."
"Remind me never to get on your bad side," Ratna muttered.
"Just don’t insult my wife or endanger humanity. We’ll be fine."
Yanto pulled up additional data on his own tablet. "Corrupted Tower. A-rank classification. Level 45-60 monsters. Final boss is a Corrupted Archmage, Level 65. That’s higher level than you."
"Level isn’t everything. Skill, knowledge, experience matter more. And I have all three." Rama zoomed in on the boss floor. "The Archmage has three phases. Most teams wipe on phase two because they don’t know about the elemental immunity rotation. I do. I’ll call it out, coordinate counters, ensure clean phase transitions."
"You’ve really memorized this entire dungeon."
I’ve died in this dungeon. Watched teammates die. Learned through blood and failure.
"I’ve studied extensively," Rama said instead. "Three days until the raid. I’m using that time to prepare the team."
"The team that doesn’t believe in you?"
"The team that will believe in me after we clear with zero deaths and record time."
That afternoon, Rama received a message from an unknown number.
Unknown: This is Sri. From the guild. Can we talk?
Rama: Sure. Where?
Unknown: Coffee shop near guild HQ. One hour.
He found her waiting at a corner table, ice coffee already ordered for both of them.
"Thanks for meeting," Sri said as he sat. "I wanted to talk off the record. Away from guild politics."
"About the raid?"
"About Hendra. And what he’s planning." She slid a document across the table. "This is the official raid plan he submitted. Read the special notes."
Rama scanned the document. Standard raid formation, floor-by-floor strategy, resource allocation. Then he found the special notes section:
Special Assignment - Rama Kusuma:
Position: Rear support, minimum engagement Restricted from main combat Limited to buff/heal support only If combat performance exceeds role assignment, assume System fraud and remove from raid Document any suspicious "perfect" knowledge of dungeon mechanics Priority: Verify claimed abilities or expose deception
"He’s setting you up to fail," Sri said quietly. "If you perform too well, he’ll claim you’re cheating somehow. If you perform normally, he’ll say you’re not really Level 48. It’s a no-win scenario."
"It would be. If I cared about his opinion." Rama read through the notes again. "He’s assuming I’ll either fail to prove myself or succeed in ways that look suspicious. He hasn’t considered a third option."
"Which is?"
"Succeed so thoroughly, so obviously, so publicly that claiming fraud would make him look delusional." Rama smiled. "I’m not going to barely pass his test. I’m going to exceed every expectation so completely that skepticism becomes impossible."
"That’s... ambitious."
"That’s necessary. The void war starts in forty-one days. I don’t have time for guild politics and personality conflicts. I need believers. Soldiers. People ready to fight extinction." He looked at Sri. "Are you one of them?"
"I want to be. But I need proof. Real proof. Not just claims and prophecies."
"You’ll have it. In three days. I promise."
Sri nodded slowly. "I’m rooting for you. Genuinely. Sekar’s a good Guild Master. If she believes in you, there’s probably something there. But Hendra commands a lot of loyalty among the older officers. If this goes badly—"
"It won’t."
"If it does, it’ll damage Sekar’s position. Undermine her authority. Make the guild question her judgment." Sri leaned forward. "I’m telling you this because I don’t want that to happen. So please. Whatever you’re planning, make sure it works."
"It will. I’ve bet my life on worse odds and survived." He stood. "Thank you for the warning. And the coffee. See you in three days."
The next morning, Rama hit Level 49.
Not from grinding—he’d been avoiding dungeons to save his best performance for the raid. Instead, from completing System quests. Small ones. Efficiency tasks that granted steady EXP.
[LEVEL UP!]
[LEVEL 49 → 50]
[CHAMPION THRESHOLD REACHED]
[BEGINNING CHAMPION ASCENSION...]
The transformation was immediate and overwhelming.
His body felt different. Stronger. Denser. Every cell upgraded. His System interface expanded, showing new abilities, new possibilities.
[RAMA KUSUMA - LEVEL 50]
[STATUS: CHAMPION]
[CHAMPION ABILITIES UNLOCKED]
[NEW SKILL: CHAMPION’S PRESENCE - Allies within range gain +15% all stats]
[NEW SKILL: TACTICAL OVERSEER - Enhanced perception of battlefield, predict enemy movements]
[NEW SKILL: PERFECT COORDINATION - Grant temporary champion-level buffs to chosen allies]
[ACHIEVEMENT: FIRST TO CHAMPION (TIMELINE 2)]
[BONUS: REGRESSOR’S EDGE - Additional +20% effectiveness in party situations]
Sekar found him sitting on the balcony, staring at his hands.
"Something wrong?"
"Something right. I just hit Level 50. Champion status achieved."
Her eyes widened. "Already? That’s—you’re ahead of schedule."
"Two days ahead. Which means for the raid tomorrow, I won’t be Level 48 like Hendra thinks. I’ll be a Level 50 Champion with abilities he can’t imagine."
"Should we tell him?"
"No. Let it be a surprise." Rama pulled up his new abilities. "These champion skills—they’re designed for party support. For making allies stronger. For coordinating teams. It’s like the System knew I’d need them for this exact situation." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"The System knew?"
"Or maybe I manifested abilities that matched my needs. Either way, tomorrow’s raid just became even easier."
Sekar sat beside him. "You’re really confident. No nervousness? No worry?"
"Should I be nervous? I know the dungeon. I know my abilities. I know what’s coming. And now I’m a Champion with skills specifically designed to make party raids trivial." He took her hand. "Tomorrow, I’m going to show your guild what a System Champion can do. And Hendra’s going to regret every doubt."
"Promise me you won’t take unnecessary risks. Just to show off."
"I promise. No unnecessary risks. Just necessary excellence."
She laughed. "I love this confident version of you. The old Rama would’ve been terrified of tomorrow. This Rama can’t wait."
The old Rama died in a void dimension at 100% corruption. This Rama has fought Level 167 entities and won. An A-rank dungeon and office politics are nothing.
"Tomorrow," he said. "Everything changes."
"Tomorrow," she agreed.
The night before the raid, Rama received one final message. From Hendra.
Hendra: Tomorrow, we see if you’re real or fraud. For Sekar’s sake, I hope you’re real. For your sake, I hope you’re ready. Because if you fail, I’m recommending your immediate removal from guild affairs. Permanently.
Rama stared at the message for a long moment. Then typed a reply.
Rama: Tomorrow, you’ll learn why questioning a Champion is a mistake. See you at the raid.
He sent it and turned off his phone.
