SEXY MECH SYSTEM-Chapter 34: Reminisces
Amy was a special case.
He hadn’t found what was troubling her at that moment. She was still keeping it in, holding secrets that ate her from within. She would always mumble about family issues and whenever asked, she’d deflect or give the classic "You can’t understand."
Even despite her troubles, she had still offered and was still offering a helping hand, going to lengths for the sweet, young man.
What more could they be hiding? How far would they go for him whilst they fight their own battles alone? Had he been selfish all this while?
How foolish he was to think he had been cursed all this while. He was surrounded by blessings, surrounded by beautiful women who were facing one or two hardships but still cared about him.
At this point, Syril didn’t know what to feel.
Anger?
Betrayal?
Remorse?
He couldn’t pinpoint anything. His head was a turmoil, an entanglement of emotions that hurt too much.
In that moment, he had opened his mouth to say something, to stop Sherry from expressing gratitude when he was actually the one in debt. However, despite his attempt to sound smooth, he hoarsed.
"No... You owe me nothing. I should be the one thanking you. You’ve done more than that for me. I..." He stuttered. "I’ll do that over and over again for you. You deserve more than this. You... You deserve the best."
Sherry listened to more soothing words from Syril, holding onto the Mech Controller as she poured everything without restraint.
Syril held her through everything, saying genuine words that carried the weight of unapologetic love.
It was the support Sherry never had. She couldn’t lament to her daughter, because she had to play her motherly role well. And since her husband was long dead and she had no relatives alive or any that wanted to see her to console or support, Sherry had to keep every hurtful emotion bottled.
Now, she had poured everything and it felt right. She felt light, better than she ever felt for a couple of years.
She didn’t pull away so fast. She stayed there, enjoying the comfort of the teenager’s sturdy arms wrapped around her.
Sherry started chuckling.
"Look at you. Look at me!" She laughed with genuine humor. "Who would have thought the same boy who stood outside my shop three years ago would be the one to help me now?"
"Do you remember?" She smiled into his chest, absentmindedly snuggling and squeezing the boy’s refined shape. "Do you remember what you told me that morning when I gave you two options? That was the day after your first visit, right?"
Syril too smiled back reminiscing how ’foolishly’ bold he was.
*FLASHBACK.*
That morning, knowing that the boy was all alone and had no one to look up to, Sherry had offered to raise the boy as her own, to adopt him as her own child, or be his guardian till he could fend for himself.
And Syril gave the most ’ridiculous’ answer. He didn’t pick any option. He didn’t go for the best offer.
Instead, his words were: "No. I’m sorry, ma’am. Mother wouldn’t have let me do that. Mother and Father wanted to see me grow into a successful, brave man. Now that they... Now that they are no more, I’ll have to fight to become the person they wanted me to be."
"But you can grow with me. You can become successful under my guidance. You can always be what you wanna be with my supervision, yeah?" A puzzled Sherry had asked.
"No, ma’am." Those two words struck Sherry like a physical blow. "You’re a kind woman, but I can’t accept those offers, ma’am. I already owe you for this, and I can’t begin that journey of indebtedness. I don’t want to grow up in someone’s shadow and I don’t want to be a burden. If I accept these, maybe I’ll grow weak. If I start fighting now, I’ll become who mother and father want me to be. Thank you, ma’am, but I have to do this."
Sherry was awestruck. She tried opening her mouth in persuasion, but words didn’t come out.
From that day, she knew the boy was special. And when he landed a job at a five star restaurant (Amanda’s), she was convinced the boy knew where he was going. She started looking at him from another perspective and supported with all she could.
Syril became an object of awe for her, and she was so interested in seeing the boy’s development till date.
Note: It was also this same mentality Syril had that he refused to accept Amanda’s grandiose offer. Part of the reasons the women in his life are so interested in him.
*PRESENT.*
"Yeah, I remember." Syril laughed out loud, scratching his head as he pictured how small and bold he looked then.
"You’re not that small boy now..." Sherry started, softly humming words into his chest. "You’re becoming that person your parents wanted you to become." She tried looking into his eyes from her position.
"They’d be proud of you, Syril."
"Yeah..." Syril trailed off, trying to remember what his parents’ face looked like.
Those faces were long gone, but he couldn’t forget what they looked like. The warm, smiley face of his mom etched into his memory like a scar.
That face that could perfectly discipline him for doing a bad thing and still beam happily in a tight embrace.
His father was taciturn and never spoke much, maybe Syril took this trait from him, but that handsome face never shied away from expressing unapologetic, immense love for his family.
Syril couldn’t forget them. He couldn’t bury those faces. He couldn’t bury those personalities. They had been the one pushing him. He couldn’t give up, because he promised to be a great man.
Sherry knew he was lost in his thoughts. She knew she had resurfaced memories of Syril’s loved ones and it probably hurt the young man.
She felt bad.
To pivot him away from melancholic thoughts she had incited, she asked a question that was tugging her mind.
"We’ve never really talked about this... There were always pressing issues that this never really mattered, but recently, I’ve been wondering. After seeing your performance in the store, my curiosity was spiked."
"Syril, what’s your ability?"

Hi, guys. Author here.
I’m really sorry this is coming late. Now, I’m confused on what to do. Release 32 Chapters in privilege tiers or put more in public?
I might need your opinion here.
Anyways, stockpile is being prepared, and we’re launching into premium entertainment.
I prepared tiers for everyone, namely;
A Rank Readers - 2 privilege Chapters. (3 coins.)
S Rank Readers - 5 privilege Chapters. (140 coins).
SS Rank Readers - 10 privilege Chapters.(275 coins).
SSS Rank Readers - 30 privilege Chapters.(800 coins).
And there’s more!
Webnovel suggested to increase the price to something greater, but I reduced it because the price might be heavy for my readers.
In addition to the price reduction, I also added discounts for the Chapters in the tiers. So, less spending for my readers.
If you have anything to say, any suggestions, let me know! I’m much open to em!
Don’t forget to vote and keep supporting.
Love y’all.
Kingnova.
