Chapter 34 - 34: 3 Little Pigs

The skies over Wano reflected the chaos reigning under Kaidou's rule. Dark clouds swirled ominously, veiling the sun's light as the land beneath remained a shadow of its former self. Factories belched black smoke into the sky, rivers were poisoned, and the people, starved and exhausted, toiled under the brutal regime of the Beast Pirates. Amidst this despair, hope seemed distant, and many doubted that Wano would ever be free again.

Deep within the dense forests of Wano, hidden from Kaidou's patrols, a once-important figure sat by a small fire. Shinobu, the kunoichi formerly employed by the Kozuki family, worked on crafting a traditional mask out of wood. Across from her sat Tama, the young apprentice who watched her intently. Tenguyama Hitetsu, the enigmatic swordsmith and caretaker of Tama, leaned against a tree nearby, his tengu mask concealing his expression but not the weight of his thoughts.

"Big sis Shinobu," Tama began softly, her youthful innocence evident in her voice. "Do you really think Wano will be free again? Will we ever see a day when Kaidou's pirates are gone and the Kozuki clan is back in power?"

Shinobu paused, her hands stilling over the kunai she was cleaning. Her kind eyes met Tama's, though they carried a heaviness borne of years of struggle. "I believe in the spirit of the people, Tama. As long as there are those who fight for what's right, there is hope. But the road ahead is difficult, and Kaidou... Kaidou is a monster not easily defeated."

Hitetsu's voice cut through the silence. "Hope is necessary, but hope alone is not enough. Plans must be made, and allies must be found."

Before Shinobu could respond, the rustling of leaves interrupted the calm. Shinobu's hand instinctively moved to her kunai, her senses on high alert. Tama froze in place, eyes wide with fear, while Hitetsu stepped forward, his presence protective.

From the shadows emerged a tall, imposing figure. Black wings folded neatly behind him, dark brown skin glinting faintly in the firelight, and the flickering flame on his back made his identity unmistakable. King, Kaidou's feared All-Star and right hand, stood before them. His golden eyes swept over the group, lingering briefly on each of them.

"What do you want, King the Wildfire?" Shinobu demanded, her voice steady despite the tension in the air. Her kunai was gripped tightly in her hand. "If you've come to harm us, know that we will not go quietly."

King raised a hand, palm open in a gesture of peace. "I am not here to fight," he said, his deep voice calm but resolute. "I've come to talk."

"Talk?" Shinobu's eyes narrowed. "What could you possibly have to say to us? You, who have served Kaidou for years and helped enslave the people of Wano?"

Tama's small hand trembled as she clutched her pouch of dango, her only means of defense. Hitetsu stepped closer to her protectively, his voice sharp. "State your purpose quickly, King. We've no patience for games."

King's gaze moved to the tengu-masked man, then back to Shinobu. "I understand your suspicion," he began, his tone heavy with sincerity. "But I am not the man you think I am. Things have changed. Kaidou's vision of a world ruled by strength has poisoned this land, and I can no longer stand by and watch him destroy Wano."

The words hung in the air, their weight sinking into the minds of the listeners. Shinobu's hand remained on her weapon, though she did not move to attack. Hitetsu crossed his arms, his posture rigid.

"And we are supposed to believe you've suddenly grown a conscience?" Hitetsu asked, his voice laced with skepticism. "You, who have been complicit in Kaidou's tyranny?"

King exhaled slowly, the flame on his back flickering. "I know it's hard to believe. I was loyal to Kaidou because I believed in his strength. But strength without purpose is meaningless. I am Lunarian—a survivor of a race destroyed by blind ambition and power. Kaidou's rule will only lead to more destruction, and I cannot let that happen."

Tama's voice, small but brave, broke the tension. "If you're telling the truth, why are you here? Why talk to us?"

King knelt down, meeting Tama's gaze. "Because I need your help. The people of Wano need hope, and they need allies who will stand against Kaidou. I cannot do this alone."

Shinobu's eyes widened in shock. "You expect us to help you overthrow Kaidou? Do you understand what you're asking?"

"I do," King replied. "And I am willing to do whatever it takes to earn your trust. Kaidou's downfall is the only way Wano can be free."

Hitetsu stepped forward, his tone measured but firm. "You claim to have turned against Kaidou, yet you offer no proof. How can we be sure this isn't a ploy to lure us out?"

King's golden eyes met Hitetsu's unflinchingly. "If I wanted to capture you, I would not have come alone. Kaidou's men patrol these forests constantly. I have kept them away from this area to ensure we could speak freely."

Shinobu studied him carefully, her grip on her kunai loosening slightly. "If what you say is true, what do you plan to do? How can you hope to defeat Kaidou, the strongest creature in the world?"

King's expression hardened. "I know Kaidou better than anyone. I know his strengths and his weaknesses. But more importantly, I know his hubris. He believes he is invincible, and that is his greatest flaw. With the right allies and careful planning, he can be defeated."

"And what role do you expect us to play in this?" Hitetsu asked, his skepticism unabated.

"Shinobu," King began, his voice steady, "your knowledge of Wano and your ties to the Kozuki clan make you invaluable. When the time comes, the people will look to you and others like you for leadership. As for Tama—" he turned to the young girl, his tone softening, "your abilities could turn Kaidou's Smile users against him."

Shinobu's eyes narrowed. "Tama is just a child. I won't let you put her in harm's way."

"I understand your concern," King said. "But Tama's courage and abilities are more than most adults possess. She can help in ways no one else can."

Tama's small fists clenched at her sides. "I want to help! If it means freeing Wano, I'll do whatever it takes."

Shinobu hesitated, torn between her protective instincts and the growing realization that Tama's resolve was unshakable. Hitetsu, meanwhile, regarded King with a calculating gaze.

"You speak of allies and plans," Hitetsu said. "But what guarantee do we have that you won't replace Kaidou as Wano's tyrant?"

King's gaze softened, and for the first time, his stoic demeanor cracked. "I am not Kaidou. I don't seek power for its own sake. I've spent my life as a weapon, but I've come to realize there is more to this world than strength and domination. Wano belongs to the Kozuki clan, and I will see that it is restored to its rightful place."

The fire crackled softly as Shinobu considered his words. Trusting King was a gamble, but the sincerity in his voice was undeniable. After a long pause, she nodded slowly. "Very well. If you are true to your word, we will stand with you. But betray us, and there will be no place for you in Wano or anywhere else."

King nodded, his expression resolute. "I understand."

Tama's eyes shone with determination. "What do we need to do?"

King knelt again, his presence imposing yet strangely comforting. "Continue to be brave, Tama. The people of Wano need hope, and you are that hope. When the time comes, we will act together to bring freedom back to this land."

As the fire burned low, the group continued their discussion, laying the groundwork for the alliance that could change the fate of Wano (Afterall it's the MC's journey and he's special so something gotta happen lol) . The journey ahead would be fraught with danger, naturally as nothing great was ever done without risks or danger.
