Secretly Married to the Ice-Cold CEO-Chapter 623: The Young Master Has Made Great Progress
Younger sister Ai Xi seemed even happier than her brother on his birthday. She asked her father, "When is it my birthday?"
An Junxi counted the days. Indeed, Ai Xi’s birthday was approaching soon. Time flies. "After your birthday, Ai Xi, you need to go to kindergarten."
Ai Xi hugged her father’s neck and acted coquettishly, "I don’t want to go to kindergarten."
Gu Yikun looked at his wife with a troubled expression, "How about we delay it for another year and hire a teacher to teach her at home first?"
An Junxi said, "There’s no room for discussion."
Gu Yikun knew it was hopeless to persuade his wife, so he comforted his daughter, "Daddy will pick you up from school every day."
"Really? Daddy is so handsome. Will the other kids try to take you away?"
Gu Yikun proudly said, "Daddy is indeed very handsome, but no one can take me away."
Ai Xi, acting grown-up, said, "Well, I’ll try my best, okay?"
"Okay, that’s great."
An Junxi tapped her on the nose, "You little rascal."
The children had a wonderful time at the amusement park all day. Some people recognized President Gu’s family and secretly took out their phones to take photos.
Ai Xi waved cheerfully to everyone, looking every bit like a little child star. As for her brother, young master Gu Jingxiu, he maintained his usual aloof demeanor.
In the evening, they went to the themed restaurant in the amusement park for dinner and booked a private room.
The manager respectfully led the way, "President Gu, Mrs. Gu, the revolving private room upstairs offers a view of the amusement park at night. The kids should like it."
An Junxi, still child-like at heart, liked it very much herself.
Walking down the hallway to the private room, Gu Yikun carried his daughter, while An Junxi held Jingxiu’s hand. Gu Jingxiu habitually scanned his surroundings, a precaution instructed by Uncle Cheng to never let his guard down while outside.
A few service staff walked towards them. Upon seeing the manager and President Gu, they quickly stepped aside against the wall, holding their trays high above their heads to clear a path for the guests.
Having experienced many things, young master Gu Jingxiu looked at them suspiciously. Well-trained staff at such a restaurant would never lift trays above their heads—the act was extremely rude and uncouth.
He observed them a bit longer. One small, skinny man turned his body slightly, seemingly to make more room for them. This made his position even more conspicuous, as though concealing something.
Gu Jingxiu’s small face suddenly grew tense after watching a bit. He looked up to call his father, Gu Yikun, who with one arm carrying his daughter, patted his shoulder with his free hand, "Go see if Uncle Yue has arrived."
An Junxi wondered, is Yue Xiaoyang coming for dinner too?
Before she could ask, Gu Jingxiu dashed off. Gu Yikun wrapped his arm around An Junxi, "Xiao Yang is almost here, and your senior is coming too."
An Junxi didn’t sense anything unusual, "Then we’ll have a gathering."
Gu Jingxiu ran to open the door of the private room. The manager smiled and said, "Young master is so lively."
Upon entering, Gu Jingxiu first surveyed the room. Gu Yikun followed, carrying his wife and daughter. He placed his daughter in a high chair and seated An Junxi beside her.
Ai Xi, not yet able to read, wanted to order by herself. An Junxi handed her the menu, and Ai Xi randomly chose dishes by recognizing pictures.
Gu Yikun told the manager, "We’ll order later. Kindly step out for now."
The manager left. Ai Xi asked, "Daddy, didn’t I get to order?"
Gu Yikun said, "Take your time, no rush."
An Junxi and her daughter looked at the menu together. Ai Xi could recognize a few simple characters and pointed them out to her mom, "Mommy, I know this one."
An Junxi taught her to read the others. The revolving restaurant offered a full view of the amusement park, but Ai Xi lost interest and only wanted ice cream.
"I see ice cream! Mommy, let’s have this!"
An Junxi and her daughter had a tug-of-war, debating against the ice cream. Gu Jingxiu, however, didn’t have it so easy. He watched his father, curious about his next move.
Those men outside were bad. He had seen the hidden gun in their hands.
He knew his father had noticed too, hence mentioning Uncle Yue to buy time.
Gu Yikun discreetly observed the private room, ensuring safety before telling his wife, "I’ll step out for a bit."
An Junxi, still reasoning with her daughter, didn’t pay much attention to her husband, "Okay."
Ai Xi pleaded with her father, "Daddy, Mommy won’t let us have ice cream but my brother and I really want it."
Gu Jingxiu was dumbfounded, this little trickster sister; he never mentioned wanting ice cream!
Gu Yikun replied, "Listen to Mommy."
As he stepped out, Gu Jingxiu locked the door and returned to sit beside his mother, eyes glued to the entrance.
He knew his father could handle those men outside in less than ten minutes.
Gu Yikun continued walking out. A few service staff approached; seeing President Gu, they stopped to greet, "President Gu."
Casually dressed today, Gu Yikun took off his watch, worth over seven hundred thousand, and put it in his pocket, lest these bastards scratch it.
He said, "We don’t need private room service, you all can leave."
The men exchanged glances. One stepped forward intending to speak, "President Gu, we..."
Before finishing, he suddenly took out a knife from the tray and lunged at Gu Yikun’s shoulder.
Prepared, Gu Yikun sidestepped, grabbed the man’s wrist, and twisted hard. The man, writhing in pain, swung his left fist to regain control, but it was too late. Gu Yikun already delivered a swift kick to his lower abdomen.
The man was down before he knew what hit him. Meanwhile, the other assailants closed in. The small, skinny man reached behind his waist. Gu Yikun grabbed a nearby plate and tossed it. As they dodged, he swiftly took down two more with lightning speed, pinning the small man against the wall, extracting a concealed black handgun from his waist.
The gun twirled in his hand, the cold barrel aimed at the man’s head.
Feeling the cold steel, the man opened his mouth to scream. Gu Yikun struck his neck with the gun, and the man crumpled silently to the floor.
After kicking the men aside, Gu Yikun had handled them all.
Looking to call for cleanup, a strange sound arose from the corner ahead. He glanced back at the private room door, checked the gun’s ammo, then cautiously approached.
Rounding the corner, he spotted someone and lowered the gun.
Uncle Cheng said, "Young master, I took care of two."
Gu Yikun advanced, confirming two men lying on the ground after rounding the corner.
Inside the private room, Gu Jingxiu monitored the time. When his father didn’t return after a while, he told his mom, "I’ll go find Daddy."
Opening the door, he saw several men on the floor, with his father and Uncle Cheng talking at the hallway’s end.
To avoid scaring his mom and sister, he quickly shut the door, approached his father.
As he walked past, one man suddenly grabbed his leg, but Gu Jingxiu reacted swiftly, punching the man in the temple, then kicking his stomach. The man collapsed unconscious.
Uncle Cheng, about to help, watched the young master handle it quickly, gave a thumbs-up; the young master had shown great progress.
