Secret Wealthy Marriage-Chapter 62 - Post-meal Walk
Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Post-meal Walk
Chapter 62 -62: Post-meal Walk
Fortunately, the kitchen was well-equipped with advanced appliances. Carolline started by steaming the rice, then washed the beef, pork, and chicken legs separately. The beef was cut into small cubes, and the pork was minced into slices using a meat grinder.
She then hand-cut the potatoes into chunks, mixed them with the beef, and put them into the pressure cooker.
Although the kitchen had an oven, it was Carolline’s first time attempting to make crispy chicken legs, a dish her mother had made for her in the past. She followed the steps from her memory, but was a bit worried about the taste as she put the chicken into the oven.
The mushrooms were also sliced and fried with the pork slices.
By the time Bryan Hawkins came downstairs, all the dishes were ready except for the Tomato Egg Soup still cooking in the pot. There were Braised Beef with Potatoes, crispy chicken legs, stir-fried mushrooms with meat slices, stir-fried broccoli, the Tomato Egg Soup, and a plate of boiled shrimps.
Carolline had created her own dipping sauce for the dish.
It was quite a feast, comprising five dishes and one soup. When it was just the three of them, they would normally have only three dishes and a soup. Now, with only the two of them, Carolline was worried they wouldn’t be able to finish everything.
After cooking all the dishes, she regretted buying and cooking so much food at once.
Bryan Hawkins was not concerned about the abundance of food. He was simply impressed with how Carolline managed to make such simple, yet delicious dishes. The delicious smell coming from the kitchen made him realize how hungry he was.
His stomach even growled, which was something that hadn’t happened since he was a child. It was quite embarrassing for a man approaching his thirties.
“There’s a bit too much. We can put the leftovers in the fridge for tomorrow’s meals,” Carolline explained awkwardly.
“It’s not too much. Let’s start eating, shall we?” Bryan smiled, seeing Carolline’s embarrassed expression. He hadn’t seen her this self-conscious when she was his caretaker.
“Sure.” Carolline nodded, then poured the Tomato Egg Soup into bowls and added a soup spoon to each.
Bryan helped carry the dishes to the dining table, and Carolline followed with two bowls of rice.

Carolline wholeheartedly enjoyed the meal, eating a bowl of rice, two bowls of soup, and plenty of dishes, especially the crispy chicken legs. She ate more than half of them by herself.
As expected, Bryan was a carnivore. He ate a large bowl of beef, and Carolline just had a couple of beef cubes and some potatoes. He also finished the stir-fried mushrooms with meat slices and most of the boiled shrimps. In the end, they managed to eat almost all the five dishes and one soup, leaving only a few potatoes and some broccoli.
Carolline threw the leftover vegetables into the trash since they couldn’t be kept overnight. Even the soup was finished, not a drop left.
After washing the dishes, Carolline could hardly believe that the two of them had eaten so much. She couldn’t help but touch her stomach, which felt quite round and full.
They had to help digest all that food, especially the hard-to-digest meat. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.
“Are you ready? Let’s go for a walk.” Bryan changed into outdoor clothes and asked Carolline.
“Yeah, just give me a moment to wash my face.” Carolline nodded, then quickly went to the bathroom to rinse her face with water, wiped it dry with a towel, and followed Bryan out.
Bryan had already put on his shoes and was waiting by the door with his keys, ready to head out. Carolline had never expected Bryan to suggest going for a walk after dinner.
She had thought that after dinner, Bryan would lock himself in the study room for a video conference or some phone calls while she watched TV or a movie in the living room. Then they would both go to bed.
The leisurely activity of an after-dinner walk was an unexpected surprise for her.
“Have you ever considered being a chef? There’s a demand for private chefs nowadays, you know?” Bryan started the conversation as they walked. Carolline had always been quite taciturn, so it was better for him to initiate the conversation.
“…” Carolline had never considered it. With her cooking skills, she could only satisfy people who weren’t picky eaters. If she encountered picky customers, running a restaurant would lead to endless arguments.
“My cooking skills are really only suited for homemade dishes. I am a far cry from being a professional chef.” Carolline shook her head, aware of her own limitations.
“You are quite modest,” Bryan didn’t press the issue further, recognizing that everyone had their own dreams. Carolline loved being a nurse, and perhaps he shouldn’t interfere too much in that.
“It’s not modesty. It’s being self-aware.” Carolline argued that genuine modesty came from people with actual ability downplaying their own achievements, while she was simply admitting the truth of her limited cooking skills.
It was a newly purchased villa and not many residents had moved in yet. Bryan and Carolline hadn’t been seen at the villa for months, so the people coming and going around the area didn’t know each other.
However, the process of getting to know each other always began with a nod of acknowledgement and a simple greeting of “hello.”
They walked to a bench by Bluen Lake and sat down, enjoying the gentle southern breeze and the tranquility of the night, as well as the fresh air. Bluen Lake Wonderland was excellently landscaped, and out of respect for everyone’s privacy, the benches had been placed at a distance from each other so that people could chat without worrying about being overheard.
Bryan remained calm, but Carolline was the one feeling uneasy in his presence. She didn’t know why she felt so awkward around him.
Thankfully, Carolline’s phone rang at that moment, easing some of her tension.
