Chapter 85 -85 One Not Less – 1
“I can see you didn’t want to come to this place either, so why did you come here? Just for fun?”
Colin listened to the echoing “clang clang” in the train car, holding back from making a snarky comment in his mind.
However, seeing the train start, he felt somewhat relieved at the bottom of his heart. This city was just too eerie and terrifying. He hadn’t even seen anything and it already made him so afraid that he almost fainted.
If it hadn’t been for the “Contrarian” showing its power for the first time, he might have really passed out.

What would happen then if something else popped up?
The level of horror here was much higher compared to the previous straw field!
It was definitely one of those places that you couldn’t just casually test for danger with the “Book of Fate”!
Because if he did, just the feedback from the “Book of Fate” alone would have a certain probability of killing him on the spot.
“Speaking of which, where exactly is that place? It’s noon but it’s dark, could it be a time difference? The time difference must be at least seven or eight hours… cities in the Americas?”
“It doesn’t seem like it, just now I saw that most of the places have Chinese signs, and some of the road signs are domestic, it’s just too far, and they seem worn out, so I didn’t see the specifics clearly…”
“And looking at the outlines of those skyscrapers, they seem to be either first-tier or new first-tier cities, but if any major city had really fallen into anomaly, it couldn’t possibly be hidden…”
As he pondered, Colin suddenly felt something, lifted his head, and saw a bridge spanning over a large river being gradually covered by white fog outside the train window.
With his vision beyond ordinary people’s, he vaguely saw that on the towering bridge head which pulled a large number of steel cables, there seemed to be four big red characters carved “Xupu Bridge”.
It sounded familiar, but he didn’t have much of an impression…
Only, before he could think further, Colin felt a sudden jolt in his heart and a sizzling sound of electricity reached his ears as the gas lamps inside the train car began to flicker.
A strong premonition told him that something terrifying was approaching!
“Everyone, close your eyes, hold onto your seats, don’t move, don’t look!”
Colin shouted, then without paying any more attention to others, he closed his eyes, braced his feet against the seat in front of him, and grasped the handrails.
Just as he finished doing all this, not two seconds later, the train car shook violently as if it had been hit by some monstrous thing.
The train wheels made a mournful metal scraping sound as they rubbed against the tracks.
Behind him were the panicked noises and screams of the other people…
But these screams did not last long before they abruptly stopped, as if their throats had been cut like those of decapitated chickens.
Meanwhile, even with his eyes closed, he could feel the lights inside the carriage seemed to have gone out.
A chilling sensation invaded him.
The entire train’s speed noticeably slowed, as though it was being dragged by some invisible force and mired in a quagmire, struggling to move.
“Colin, Colin, Colin, Colin…”
In the cold darkness, Colin thought he heard someone calling his name. He didn’t dare respond, silently shifting his attention to something else.
Like singing a folk song with the lyrics “This is the final struggle…”
This made Colin feel much better at heart, at the very least not being bewitched by that voice which seemed to come from nowhere.
The shaking of the train grew more and more intense, as though it could derail at any moment, but fortunately, even at its most violent rocking, it kept steadily moving forward.
A few more minutes passed…
The shaking of the train carriage gradually ceased, light appeared outside the closed eyelids, and the speed of the train seemed to gradually return to normal.
“Is it over?”
Colin had his suspicions, but he still waited a good while before tentatively opening his eyes. Then he was struck breathless and nearly jumped out of his seat.
Right there, on the glass of the train window beside him, appeared the obvious protruding outline of a human face, less than ten centimeters from him.
Fortunately, the train extricated itself in time, so he had no contact with whatever it was.
“It must have been the same thing that was calling my name just now.”
Colin glanced at the other parts of the window and noticed many dents and signs of damage in the carriage, with the glass bearing one chilling scratch mark after another, left by something unknown.
Obviously, while the train had just experienced its stationary attack, something had been trying to get inside.
But it seemed that, in the end, they had not succeeded.
And as the train smoothly escaped its predicament, the glass with the face beside Colin slowly returned to normal, the abrasive cracks disappearing bit by bit, as if the train were a living entity beginning to self-repair.
“Such good quality, so many frightful-looking damages and it didn’t let a single draught in, and now it starts repairing itself, feeling just like a living metal creature.”
Colin muttered to himself and turned to look at Jiu Tong “Money Slave,” who still seemed lifeless as before but appeared unharmed.
His gaze moved past Jiu Tong to the group of college students behind him, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, all safe and sound…
Well, it seemed… there was no problem.
Although the sudden encounter was horrific, luckily, not a single person was missing, and there were no casualties.
It wasn’t like last time, when someone had died just stepping out and coming back.
Colin withdrew his gaze, leaned back in his chair, and sighed with relief. At the next stop, he could safely disembark and complete the first phase of his mission.
“This promotion task doesn’t seem too difficult; it’s just bizarrely frightening.”
Colin shook his head, checked himself for any abnormalities, always feeling like something was off, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was.
Meanwhile, in that city shrouded in darkness, when the “Fog Train” gradually vanished, a scarlet light abruptly appeared below the city.
Soon after, a red “moon” quietly peeked out from the dim high-rises and seemed to be observing the departing train.
The city was instantly bathed in the sanguine glow of the light due to its appearance…
But it wasn’t long before everything returned to darkness, and the red “moon” disappeared from view.
…
Colin’s eyelids twitched twice, inexplicably feeling a heartbeat-skipping sensation of being glanced at by something.
But the feeling came quickly and went just as fast, almost like an illusion.
Thus, he didn’t pay it too much attention…
Moreover, at this moment, after passing through that eerie city, Colin suddenly felt overwhelmingly tired, even more so than after seven straight days and nights of running in the Other World.
He checked the time, twelve seventeen.
“Going by the schedule of this train, the next stop won’t likely be until this evening.”
Colin considered his options and decided it was best to eat something and then rest deeply for a while.
If he proceeded to the next phase of the mission in his current state, there was a real risk that his condition could lead to a disastrous oversight.
In general, safety was still assured while the train was in transit.
However, Colin had scarcely closed his eyes for ten minutes when, in his drowsiness, he was suddenly overtaken by a strong sense of crisis.
Immediately following that, a piercing scream echoed from the back of the train.
