Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Attempted Escape_1

Chapter 50 -50 Attempted Escape_1

At midnight, a small hotel, on the third floor.

Colin, lying on the bed, suddenly opened his eyes, sat up, and furrowed his brow, feeling a sense of unease, as if something were about to happen.

“What’s wrong?” Tang Ken, who was also in the room on night watch, looked over curiously.

This chapt𝓮r is updat𝒆d by ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom.

“Not sure, let me do a reading.”

Without explaining much, Colin glanced outside the window. The city was brightly lit, much clearer than during the day, but the streets were deserted, almost devoid of people.

Outside the city, everything was dark, pure blackness where nothing could be seen.

On the whole, everything seemed normal and nothing out of the ordinary appeared to be happening.

Based on what he had learned today, aside from Beast Transformation Syndrome, there didn’t seem to be anything particularly dangerous in the vicinity, right?

“It can’t be that wherever I go, there’s a problem. I’m not the Grim Reaper in elementary school…”

Colin muttered to himself. His uneasiness grew stronger, mainly due to “Beast Transformation Syndrome” in his body, which was fidgeting restlessly.

At that moment, he felt as if he was missing something important.

But he couldn’t recall what it was in the short term.

After pondering for a moment, he decided to use a “Book of Fate” to have a look.

He then ordered Tang Ken to watch for any movements outside, but not to stare into the darkness, and closed his eyes. In his mind, three “Book of Fate: Fragment” cards appeared.

Two of the cards were next to each other, and the third was by itself.

Colin had compared them before and, apart from different summaries, didn’t feel anything peculiar about the rest.

One version he had bought mentioned “The Dice of Probability,” while the other, provided by Miss Bunny, did not.

Colin had used both versions and as far as the results were concerned, there was no real difference.

The only difference might be different editions?

Without much thought, amidst the unrest brought on by the tyrannical nature of “Beast Transformation Syndrome,” he used a “Book of Fate.”

[This night has just passed halfway, and your heart is shrouded by an indescribable unease, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. You realize that something big is coming, but you don’t know what it is.]

[You pray that even if something does happen, it won’t occur at this time, at least not until you leave this place.]

[But in the latter part of the night, screams begin to emanate from all around; the instances of “Beast Transformation Syndrome” outbreaks multiply, and you start to realize that something terrible is really about to happen.]

[What’s even more frightening is that, shortly after, even as daylight comes, you cannot leave this city. It seems that something has shrouded this entire area, preventing anyone from entering or leaving.]

[Even if you exhaust all means, you simply cannot get away unless you solve the root of the problem.]

[Out of no choice, you lead your men back to the city, where riots are breaking out at this very moment. All the displaced outside the city walls are undergoing transformation, launching attacks, and those within the city walls are also suffering from infections and uncontrollable transformations. The catastrophe cannot be stopped.]

[The mere thousand mortal soldiers are nowhere near enough to handle such a massive upheaval, and numerous tragedies unfold on the streets, with the town that was normal just the day before falling to ruins in the blink of an eye.]

[The “Beast Transformation Syndrome” within you becomes even more uncontrollable, and at this point, you realize that if you don’t find a way to solve the root of the problem, you’re heading down a dead end.]

[Carrying this thought, you head towards the source of the terrible threat you feel a kinship with, intending to resolve it in order to escape from this place.]

[You make your way to the Holy Healing Church, forcefully break in, and there you see a monstrous entity beyond your imagination, radiating an aura of tyranny, the strongest creature you have encountered in this world so far.]

[Its body is impaled with various weapons, bathed in blood, indicating that a battle had occurred before you arrived, one that ended with its victory.]

[In this battle, you exhausted all your strength, yet you couldn’t withstand his power.]

[After desperately fleeing the battlefield, “he” didn’t leave, instead controlling other sufferers of Beast Transformation Syndrome to hunt you down. You kept running within the city, enduring until the next day when you were exhausted and finally killed.]

[In the end, you became a part of him during a ritual that wasn’t complete.]

“Damn it!”

Colin couldn’t help but curse softly, using the “Book of Fate” to finally remember there was a problem lurking nearby.

A big problem!

“He”!

The first two times he used the “Book of Fate,” he died at the hands of this guy, no, to put it more accurately, he became a part of “him.”

“I shouldn’t have entered this city this afternoon!”

Colin felt somewhat of a headache, closed his eyes, and scanned the information again. If nothing went wrong, the source of danger was supposed to be a legendary Beast Transformation Syndrome that exceeded the Third Order.

No, it might even surpass the Third Order!

“I just absorbed a Second Order Beast Transformation Syndrome fluid, and it was already overwhelming. Who knows how much this guy has collected by now, the usual ranking of orders can’t even be applied to him.”

“I thought after that ‘Virtue Knight’ left, I would be invincible, but I didn’t expect this to be the real invincibility.”

“No, I can’t fight this battle, even if I give it my all.”

Colin pinched his forehead, feeling that the only thing he could do was immediately get out of this troubled place, carrying Tang Ken through the night.

“Book of Fate: Fragment” mentioned that he relied on good fortune and attempted to escape after daylight and failed.

But it didn’t say whether or not you could succeed at night…

“Why does it feel like I’m back in jail again, only that the jail has shifted to another place?”

Colin sighed. The last time, he was able to conjure some “Luck” with “The Dice of Probability,” but now everything was uncertain.

But this one could be used as the last resort.

For now,

he would first try to escape under the cover of night. If he could get away, then they would make a run for it; if not, then they’d have to come back and rally the others to fight.

Seeing Colin stand up, Tang Ken promptly asked, “What happened?”

He had noticed that his captain’s expression had been growing increasingly solemn, feeling that the situation might be developing in an ominous direction.

“Getting ready to run. Let’s see if we can escape the city tonight; if not, we’ll discuss other options.”

Colin picked up the robe on the bed, slipping it on, and confirmed through “Event 5” how much time had been activated this time.

The remaining time is 150 hours 27 minutes 34 seconds.

“I remember the earliest I used a ‘Book of Fate’ around 167 hours. Counting the time, to be safe, I can use the third one by 143 hours, which leaves me with a little over seven hours.”

Colin silently calculated in his heart, got ready, and headed downstairs.

Tang Ken quickly followed behind him.
