Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 660: "Do you two want to get married?"
Luo Muchen’s hands roamed freely, exploring every inch of Qie Xieling’s exposed skin as they devoured each other with hungry kisses. The two figures rubbed up against each other creating an erotic scene in the dimly lit living room.
Unfortunately for them, someone didn’t want them to get busy. Qie Xieling’s phone shattered the intense moment, its shrill ringing piercing the air.
"Babe," whispered Luo Muchen his lips still on his lover’s unwilling to part with him for even a second.
"Just ignore it," replied Qie Xieling his hand sliding to grab Luo Muchen’s. He blocked it out and soon the call ended but the person was very insistent. Qie Xieling finally relented. He sat up and his hand reached out to answer the call.
Luo Muchen’s hands caressed his lover’s chest impatiently waiting for him but when he saw Qie Xieling’s expression change he stopped. "What’s wrong?" he asked while sitting up.
Qie Xieling was talking to Bo Ailun. The talking wasn’t accurate. Bo Ailun was wailing accusing him of not telling him that he was getting married.
"What? I am not getting married. What are you talking about?" he asked and Luo Muchen’s brows arched. Yes, they hadn’t talked about it but it stung for no reason hearing him say that.
Qie Xieling got off of him while urging him to turn on the TV. Luo Muchen picked up the remote and turned it on.
"What channel?... Channel three," he said before turning his gaze towards Luo Muchen. Having caught the hint he changed the channel immediately.
"Shit," swore Qie Xieling in complete disbelief. "I will call you back," he said to Bo Ailun before hanging up the call.
The well-dressed representative pushed back his reading glasses as he stood behind a podium. The contents of his announcement were flashing at the bottom of the newscast.
As the representative cleared his throat, the words that followed were like a bolt from the blue. "We are overjoyed to announce the upcoming marriage of the sole heir to GameX, Qie Xieling to his long-time partner the sole heir of the Luo Group, Luo Muchen, in a union that will not only celebrate their love but also unite two influential families."
Qie Xieling’s heart stopped. Marriage?
The men proceeded to announce the inevitable partnership between GameX and the Luo group. Qie Xieling couldn’t even look back at Luo Muchen right now. Now he understood why the family group chat was so active today before abruptly going silent. They usually did that when they were planning his birthday party or something.
He finally turned to look at his boyfriend, who was perched on the edge of the sofa behind him. Luo Muchen’s expression mirrored his own. He was equally shocked and confused.
Their families had orchestrated this moment, a public declaration without even giving them a heads-up. "I take it you don’t know about this either... shit," said Qie Xieling trying to stop himself from smiling. Fuck, he didn’t care how they got here. He wanted it so bad that he was struggling to keep a straight face. He looked away from him his back towards Luo Muchen so as not to expose himself.
Luo Muchen muted the TV but he soon regretted that. The silence in the room was deafening, punctuated only by the distant murmur of the streets below. Qie Xieling stood with his back towards him, staring into the distance as if it held answers to the turmoil within.
Luo Muchen watched his rigid posture, the set of his shoulders and the way his hands clenched at his sides and his (Luo Muchen) nervousness grew in his chest.
His fingertips pressed together as he opened and closed his mouth but his words failed to come out of him time and again. He thought Qie Xieling didn’t want to marry him thus he wanted to fix it. He wanted to make it right, but how could he undo this?
"I will talk to my mother," he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper, uncertainty lacing every word.
But Qie Xieling turned sharply, his eyes meeting Luo Muchen’s in a gaze that halted any further words. "So you don’t want to marry me?" Qie Xieling said firmly his voice a mix of anger and disappointment.
Luo Muchen’s heart skipped a beat, the tension in the air palpable. He got up and grabbed Qie Xieling’s arm his expression softening. "I want to... more than anything. I just thought you didn’t," he said his hand reaching to cup Qie Xieling’s face.
Qie Xieling’s stern expression relaxed, a rush of emotions flooding through him. He was about to ask him if he had a problem with their families’ arrangements when the main door swung open with a sense of urgency.
"... he should be here," said his dad as they entered the condominium one after the other.
Qie Xieling, "..."
Luo Muchen, "..."
Qie Xieling was now seriously considering limiting his parent’s access to this place otherwise they might walk in on something indecent.
Qie Xieling, who had been standing behind Luo Muchen, abruptly stood in front of him his heart racing at the sight of his parents.
The expression on Qie Ranzhe’s face was stern, a storm brewing in his eyes as they landed on Luo Muchen. It was clear that Qie Ranzhe’s presence was not just a courtesy visit; it was a mission to reclaim his son. He should have never underestimated Luo Shih. No wonder her competitors gave up when in a bidding war with her. Backed in a corner he could only agree to the deal otherwise, it would mess with his money. If his son didn’t want this he would have refused even if it would cripple his company. After negotiating this was the end result but he could still exercise his right as a father thus he came over.
"Do you two want to get married?" asked Wen Qinxi and they simultaneously answered, 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Yes." Wen Qinxi seemed very happy with the answer.
Without a word, Qie Ranzhe beckoned Qie Xieling over. Qie Xieling was worried that his father would get mad at Luo Muchen so he didn’t argue. Luo Muchen’s fingers tightened but when he met his future father-in-law’s expression he was forced to let go of his lover’s arm.
The room felt smaller as he approached, the distance between him and Luo Muchen stretching with each step. When he was close enough, Qie Ranzhe reached out, hoisting him over his shoulder with a strength that belied his age, treating Qie Xieling not as an adult but as a child to be whisked away.
"The fuck!" he swore having been caught off guard. He was slightly shorter than his father but damn he felt like he was back to his school days.
