Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 598: Disturbance in the force
The laughter and banter between them was like a familiar melody in Qie Xieling’s ear. He wanted to join them but he realised that his father and uncle didn’t have a beer. He decided to grab two and raid his nana’s wine fridge for himself.
He rushed back to the kitchen and saw that his boyfriend was thriving in the kitchen. He was eagerly learning from the two ladies who enthusiastically wanted to pass on their knowledge.
He smiled slightly as he walked to the fridge and grabbed two beers. "Don’t overwhelm him. He can only take so much information," he said while closing the fridge door.
Qie Xieling was suddenly startled when he saw Luo Muchen’s face so close to his. Dumbfounded he glanced at where Luo Muchen was standing before and where he was standing now.
How fast did he come over? Qie Xieling arched his brow and was about to ask him when his grandma yelled at him.
"Who are we doing this for? I tell you under no circumstances should you let him in the kitchen without supervision."
Qie Xieling, "..."
"I only burned down the kitchen one time," he said while tilting his head to look at his grandma because Luo Muchen was blocking his view.
Nana Qie waved her knife while saying, "That was one too many times and get out of the way. Ah-Chen needs to get me peppers."
"Oh sorry," said Qie Xieling as he took a step back. Luo Muchen opened the fridge door and it blocked the two ladies’ view. Luo Muchen didn’t waste time.
He pecked Qie Xieling’s cheek after grabbing the peppers.
Qie Xieling, "..."
His uncle was wrong. It wasn’t like father like son but like father-in-law like son-in-law. The one sneaking kisses at every turn wasn’t him but Luo Muchen.
Qie Xieling’s face flushed and he placed his hand on his cheek that had been kissed. The culprit had already walked away a long time ago.
"Lin Lin, what’s wrong with you? Did you get a sunburn? Thanks, Ah-Chen," said Nana Qie when Luo Muchen placed the peppers on the kitchen countertop.
"I I am fine. I have to go," he said running off shyly. Fuck, he knew his man was shameless but he didn’t think he was this shameless. What if his grandmothers caught them? Ahhh wouldn’t that be embarrassing?
Qie Xieling was so absent-minded that he walked straight into the glass door with a soft bam. Lucky for him he was walking slowly so he wasn’t hurt. He rubbed his forehead while his dad opened the sliding door for him.
"Are you okay?" asked Wen Qinxi while placing his hand on Qie Xieling’s forehead.
"Are you a bird that you can’t see through glass?" said Wen Danzhe before bursting into laughter. Knowing that he wasn’t seriously hurt he could make fun of him as much as he wanted.
"Maybe we should get him glasses. Why is your face so red?" asked Qie Ranzhe as he grabbed the beer from his son’s hand and rolled the can on his face.
Qie Xieling who couldn’t say could only lie. "It’s a sunburn," he said but his father glanced at his lip that had a blooming lip hickey and furrowed his brows. He didn’t want to know anymore otherwise he would have a heart attack.
"You weren’t even out that long to get a sunburn," said Wen Danzhe and Qie Xieling was now wishing to fight his uncle. He would disregard blood relations and seniority just to beat him up.
Wen Danzhe took the other beer from him but Qie Xieling dodged. "It’s not for you," he said and Wen Danzhe’s brow arched.
"You and your dad drink sweet things and you already gave one to your father. Thus the other one must be for your good uncle, right?"
Qie Xieling being the type to hold a grudge did the unthinkable. He despised the taste of beer and the way the bitterness seemed to cling to his tongue, but today he was about to prove a point.
The other time he drank it was for Luo Muchen but he didn’t know that his man was considerate and bought light beer which was low in bitterness.
The one in the fridge wasn’t so forgiving. With a defiant glance, Qie Xieling snapped the tab upwards. The can hissed as it opened, releasing a froth of bubbles that rose to the surface and popped in rapid succession. He lifted the can to his lips, the metallic scent of the beer filling his nostrils, and took a long, deliberate gulp. The liquid fizzed down his throat, the carbonation tickling and teasing as it went, making his throat feel peculiar and alive with sensation. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Wen Danzhe, "..."
This brat was actually so brave. Qie Xieling fought to keep his face impassive, to show no sign of the internal battle against the beer’s acrid flavour. But as the bitterness invaded his palate, his expression twisted involuntarily, a grimace he couldn’t control.
Wen Danzhe’s eyes twinkled with suppressed mirth, a knowing look that said he understood exactly what the brat was enduring.
Qie Xieling couldn’t take it anymore. He set the can down rushing to rinse his mouth. This was fucking poison. Who in this world decided that beer tasted good enough to sell?
Luo Muchen who had been sent to deliver some pork skewers bumped into Qie Xieling at the door and a can of beer was shoved in his hand.
"Here, you finish it," said Qie Xieling before rushing past him. The sound of laughter followed behind. It seemed the three men found it amusing.
"... hahaha did you see his face? He is cute when he tries to act tough hahaha," said Wen Danzhe almost crying with laughter.
"Tsk, why did he bother trying? He is just like his dad," said Qie Ranzhe only for Wen Qinxi to try and defend himself.
"I drink beer. Remember that time we were watching the game? I drank it," he said only for Qie Ranzhe to say,
"A sip doesn’t count and you had candy in your mouth."
Wen Qinxi, "..."
"How about you kid? Do you drink?" asked Wen Danzhe and Luo Muchen nodded his head before downing the entire can. He definitely proved his point with no words. Suddenly Qie Ranzhe’s spirit of competition sprung up again. He now had a much better way to punish Luo Muchen.
Feeling a disturbance in the force Luo Muchen suddenly shivered. It seemed a storm was coming for him soon.
